"I've been meaning to ask you...What was it like? Strapping that thing to your back and flying like a bat out of hell?
"It was the closest I'll ever get to heaven Mr. Hughes. Well, maybe not."
I've loved this movie since I was a kid. The cinematography in this movie is brilliant, and there's so many iconic shots bringing the character to life. A classic!

I loved this movie when it came out. It makes me so happy that someone else thought of it so fondly. Thank you. I can't wait to watch it again.

The Rocketeer is one of my favorite movies in general and superhero ones in specific. For me even the best MCU (which has some great ones) doesn't come close to the Silver Age comic and Wonderful World of Disney feel the way the Rocketeer does. And this period had gotten my hopes up that we'd get a full pulp and/or serial revival. Even moreso than after seeing the Shadow, I thought Rocketeer was so good that I took it for granted there'd be a sequel. I dreamt we'd be getting Doc Savage, Justice Inc/the Avenger and even a Doc and Shadow team-up. With Rocketeer I hoped we'd get homages to everyone from the Spider and Green Hornet to maybe even Superman and Orsen Welles' War of the Worlds. The Phantom gave me similar hope for more King Features heroes and villains (Mandrake and Flash Gordon especially). Greatful we got what we did but looking back what a shame the possibilities never were realized.

Howard in the Rocketeer is Mr Stark before the war. During and afterwards he became a weapons man and hated it thereafter. He wanted something different for Tony. That's why there's the film clip in Iron Man 2.

One very early quibble: you keep referring to "pulp comics" while showing the covers of pulp magazines, and some images from later comic books. Pulp magazines, covering all genres were popular through the 1920s, with a golden age in the 1930s. Comic books would follow in their wake, starting in the late 1930s. Pulps and comic books existed side by side, for a while, though, through the 1940s.

The Rocketeer was a comic and it brought back Bettie Page. Look it up!

Keep going bro. Must be hard putting together videos like these but try to upload at least once a month and making then longer even if your audience doesn't watch the whole thing.

I would personally put Conann the barbarian along side with the other movies, I know its not from the 90s. But I just love everything related to Robert E Howard's work.
