How would you compare them to the Notorious Lift Radix? I know you reviewed them recently as well but id like to hear your thoughts as far as a comparison goes. I'm predominantly powerlifting but I also wear my gym shoes everywhere else.
Radix has a heavier upper construction and if you pull sumo - they'll likely be a better bet since spillover can happen in knit models. Both are great, though, so if you're 50/50 and a conv puller - idt you can wrong with either.
Wore these shoes for a week hiking in the mountains of South America. First time in decades my feet didn’t ache and sting after a long hike. Though this activity is not quite what the shoe is marketed for, it performed outstanding for me. However on slippery surfaces there is lower threshold of traction than standard hiking boots.
I’m looking for barefoot shoes that are stylish and that I can do a lot of walking in. Seems that the primus 3’s wear down quicker than other shoes. Do these shoes use better materials than primus 3’s?
HFS feels better on feet regarding security. These can feel a bit floppy at times when trying to do faster pace stuff and that's pretty typical of knits lacking that security when doing rapid foot movement
@@thatfitfriend Thank you so much man! I think I'm going to buy the Prio again, for the gym, and the HFS for running. And I also want to buy the TYR weightlifting shoes, because my feet are so wide. LOL Regarding the TYR wl shoes, do you think I should go up half size, instead of my usual size?

You said in the video that there was no toe break. Did this plastic laces piece soften after breaking in?
@@thatfitfriend thanks for the reply! It’s about 1cm between the end of my big toe and the front of the shoe. The rest of the shoe seems to fit right from what I can tell. Seems odd they would shape the end of that plastic piece to a point right where your toes bend..

Hey Jake! I just recently got a pair of primus lite 3’s and now I’m all in on barefoot shoes. I love how they feel but my only issue with them is that for work doing valet and running on concrete for a full shift, I feel like I could use a bit more cushion. Not like Hokas but just more than the primus. What shoes would you reccomend? They preferably have to come in an all black color, but feels like most shoes do. Thank you? Love the reviews.
Look into the Icarus Ascent Gen 2. They come with diff insoles with varied thicknesses and they look solid for work contexts. Think you'll love em! I have reviews on them. Outside of those, WHITIN can be solid and so can Lems models!
Appreciate your content Jake! Very insightful! Would you recommend these for power/olympic lifting? Or is there another barefoot make/model that would be better suited please? Many thanks
How would you compare this to the vivobarefoot motus strength for compound lifts like squats and deadlifts. I don’t do very many CrossFit like exercises besides box jumps. I also do the occasional jog after my lifts
Hi. I'm looking for a zero drop shoe with cushioning. I usually use the vapor gloves by Merrell for training and running, and I am happy with that brand. But I've been doing some more CrossFit esq workouts lately, and sprinting, and I think it might be better to have a shoe with a bit more cushioning for those more intense workouts. I would still like something with a zero drop though, and no heel raise. I would like it to be a bit durable as well for rope climbs. So winding if you have any recommendations?
That's a tough one - there's aren't a ton of options out right now that are zero-drop training shoe dialed for CF. The old NB Minimus used to fill that void, but they've since raised the drop in the latest model. You could look into the Trail Glove 7 - it has a bit of midsole a tad more rigidity for protecting the upper. Feel like that could be a good bet here since you already like Merrell, too!
Honestly, i don't think you need to spend much on a barefoot shoe, there is not much to get wrong on a flat sole light shoe, I bought kivors on amazon for under 50cad, I love them for lifting and they are great for walking on flat surfaces, So far i just had 2 instance where i didn't like them, Walking on rough surfaces, like over roots in trails you can feel every imperfections and not being used to it it can hurt I also didn't liked them for a farmer carry, going slow its fine, but as a strongman competitor, i need to go fast and i felt it to much in the hips and knees to my tast, i still prefer my reebok nano for those kind of mooving events
I’ve been thinking about going back to minimalist/barefoot shoes for at least training. Which would you recommend between these and the Vivobarefoot Motus Strengths?
@@thatfitfriend Thanks. And do you think the motus have a better (thicker feel) sole than the Primus lite knit, I find the primus lite knit are too thin on the sole and have too much flex, floor feel and the the side crease and rub my feet below my toe…
Should be fine! Keep in mind with most knit models though there can be a threshold of lockdown capabilities when doing stuff like wicked heavy sled work. I always tend to learn towards other models for those specific contexts. If you're just doing sled work for conditioning and not going crazy, you're prob fine!
Looks a smidge narrow, honestly. I'd say go Mizuno TS-01 or UA PR BSR 4 if you want something strong for around $100! Nanoflex V2 may be even less and also solid!
materials and construction of this shoe don't justify it's pricepoint. again, companies taking advantage of the barefoot shoe hype. It does look like a comfortable shoe that can perform pretty well.
I'll let Jake address that question but you can find models for as low as $100 that he's previously reviewed. I haven't tried it yet but the Notorius Lift Radix looks like a solid shoe, imo.
A few options for $90-110ish. These are shoes I regularly train in and rock casually. Tolos Arch 2.0, 1HUND Aerolux, Notorious Lift Radix, and Xero Shoes Prio Neo.
I think it would actually take using these shoes for awhile to see how well the materials hold up and keep performing. I’ve used TYR tech suits for swimming meets, the company definitely has a solid reputation there. I’ve had the shoes for a month now and have used them for 200 sprints, lifting, hiking through mountains and jungle (literally), if they last until winter (in 8 months) then they are worth it
hello! do these shoes still hold up? I ordered a pair for my wife and I this will be our first pair of barefoot shoes. We were aiming for a do it all shoe. Are they worth it in your opinion? I got them on sale rn for 100 dollars thanks!
I bought these shoes. They are terrible! After two months of working out they stretched out and don’t fit the same. Then when I try and tighten them down they bunch up because they don’t have a tongue.
My feet are about 27.2 cm. With my Primus Lite 3s, I’m a 10. For Xeros, I’m 10.5, and regular shoes I’m usually an 11. Looking at the TYR size chart on the their website, the 11 is 28 cm and the 11.5 is 28.4 cm. I even did their AI foot-size finder tool and it suggested 11.5, but I’m not sure. What do you think?
IMO, their sizing chart is not super accurate. I’d go 10 in em. They run a smidge longer similar to Vivo. If you’re down to hold off on buying for a week I can send you a video of my 2 10s when I get home. Traveling now and will be back home Sept 8th 🫡
I have the Vivo Primus knits but sent the first pair back because the soles were falling off after a week, then the next pair did the same thing after they sent me another. They were good about refunding me and told me to keep the last shoes they didn't want to ship them back so I bought some Amazon glue and every week I have to add some glue here and there. Just added glue to both shoes as they were coming apart big time. So while I love them, I don't know why the soles keep separating on a shoe that expensive when all I'm doing is walking. I just bought some of these TYRs and I'll get them tomorrow. Your video was great and was hitting all the points I was wondering about. Now your cons aren't really cons to me. They're pricy but I found a coupon and got the price down to about $135 or so and I do live in a hot climate so I'll appreciate the ventilation. Is there a shoe like this in performance and style that would be better for cold weather though?
That's so wild. I feel like Vivo shoes either last forever or break down super quick - no in-between it seems with comments and feedback I receive. Yeah, a lot of times pros/cons in these videos are highly contextual based on how someone wants to use the shoes. You'll have to keep me posted on the TYR model! The Tolos Arch 2.0 could be a good option. They can give you a bit more warmth with their upper. I'll rock em for training/casual wear the most!
