Lovely to see the museum , how hard life was in those days was there the window tax then or was it to bring light more from roof than the side. Thank you for showing how they lived and the way they survived. 👍👍🙏
People could not always afford a proper window. So they started putting the little windows in the roof to get light in. That is my understanding. But I am not a Shetlander. 🙂
Wonderful history!

WOW! Thats pretty impressive! How old is that building?
@@michael.cschrubbe5879 thank you for the feedback. Sorry, not sure how old the building is. But I recommend a visit! 😊
The house looks as though it is made really well. It must be at least a few hundred years old?
@@Brianthecitizenjournalist It is a restored 19th century thatched cottage. It shows how Shetlanders would have lived in the 1870s.
The winters must have been hell
@@nancya.nelson5810 I was told that around winter solstice there are only 4 hours daylight in Shetland.
I look forward to other videos. What will you do next?
@@luciaroslingshaw2112 I have got some more footage from Shetland and Orkney. Let’s see. Watch this space! :-)
