I was in Vegas for this fight... I just love Hatton's heart in this fight... He never stops coming forward. Mayweather is simply the greatest boxer of all time, surely he has proved that by now...
The body work by Floyd beginning at 5:30 is tremendous. As a boxer you can't help, but appreciate those types of punches because of how quickly they can wear you down.
I would love to see a movie, someday, about Mayweather Jr.'s life just like what was done for Micky Ward in "The Fighter". I really would like to know what he's thinking about in the ring against other fighters. Should prove facinating!
Round 8 really showed where the fight was going, and who was getting the better of it. The previous 7 rounds of eating quick lead right hands and not being effectively aggressive at all took its toll on Ricky. After 7 he looked like he had just fought 12. And Mayweather was fresh as he was in round 1.
The main chant is, 'there's only one Ricky Hatton...walking along, singing a song, walking in a Hatton wonderland'. Occasionally there is beating of drums with chanting copying the sound created and it goes something like this, 'da-da-dadadada-da...Hatton'.
if u want to appreciate floyds punches watch them in slow motion esp that straight right hand and left hook..... brings it from below the belt, tilt his head to the side and it comes in unstoppable like a charging bull
smh people never give this man the credit he deserves. Regardless of he talk a lot but that man is a genus inside the ropes. Smh probably one of the greatest of all time. what separates floyd from many is his ability to think under pressure and adjust. He fought hattons fight and destroyed him as he did Mosley. He stood toe to toe and battled. Pure skill, IQ, Talent, and heart. Much respect to Floyd!!!!!!!!!!
Floyd showing his boxing skills, his heart, his determination, his stamina and his dominating Hatton in the 8th. So that is why you hear nothing from Merchant.
I agree, and it really depends on Manny's game plan. He did manage to get past Cotto's jab, but Cotto didn't have a good defense, and couldn't stop Manny's body attack. So Mayweather is gonna be an entirely different fight.
@munsayac13 Imma ask you a question either if you had these two options which one would you choose? Option 1. 12 mill garunteed and a welterweight champion fight or option 2. 4 mill and a non title shot
@courage544 Exactly. That 8th round is where Floyd took Ricky's soul. After that 8th round, Hatton was never again the same fighter in his career. That 8th round is what led to RIcky Hatton's depression and cocaine in hotels. Mental warfare at its best punctuated by punishing blows.
Floyd put literal beating on Hatton. Before the fight the kid was undefeated ( He didn’t know how to lose), Floyd showed him that he was human. After the fight Hatton hired Mayweather Sr. That shows me that the kid was also mentally destroyed. Pac knocked Hatton out in two but the kid was already destroyed.
6.51 - Forshadowing.... Mayweather just sneaking in the move that will end the bout, just to test the waters before he delivers it fully... Boxing genius....
yeah, mayweather was just makin a show out of it, sizing hatton up and letting him wear himself out for the first half of the fight. Once hatton slowed up from all the pushin and shovin..he was done. Floyd may not have the biggest punch..but hes got stamina for days
Im a Floyd fan but Hatton did a good job of smothering FLoyd BUT as 4:30 was showing the lead right hands as well as the check hooks add up over time. PLUS as all of Floyds fights have shown as his opponents stamina fades Floyd is still fresh and very accurate which is stated by Emmanual Stewart shown at the 6:53 mark.
Mayweather took a few rounds to do it but if you notice he used the same blueprint on Hatton that Pacquiao wound up using to beat him. He started flurrying and using his superior hand speed. In the beginning of the fight Mayweather was throwing one shot at a time and hitting Hatton cleanly but not really keeping him off. Once Mayweather saw that Hatton was an easy target he got him out of there easily. Pacquiao did the same thing in his fight with Hatton except he started it earlier.
@jcpnw agreed. i dont know what fight lederman was watching because this fight wasnt that close in my opinion. hatton stayed busier but floyd landed the cleaner punches and more power punches. if you pay atttention floyd began to set hatton up for the check hook very early on in the fight. he continued to land it effectively and it eventually took its toll leading up to the knockout
@ 0:05 Let me explain the beauty of mayweather's style. Look how he rubs his elbow on ricky's cheek. He does it in one motion as he turns his body so he doesnt get cought. This makes ricky mad and makes him punch floyd on the back of the head. Mayweather did the sneaky foul, but hatton paid for it with a point. Amazing how floyd controls not just himself, but his opponent and referee too!
Emmanuel Stewart described Hattons performance best as the fight progressed INEFFECTIVE AGGRESION!!!!!!! Floyd did more landed EFFECTIVE, CLEAN punches in rounds 8 and 9 than Hatton did the in the entire bout. Only a hater would be blind to this master piece of an a** whoopin Floyd put on this undefeated, at the time, man. Hattons a brawler so floyd pot shotted him and tied him up on the inside so he couldn't get any rythm, let him fatigue himself, broke him down, and put him away. #1 P4P FMJ!!
@lewibd1 Your absolutely right! Also Dela Hoya had just won the wbc super welter weight belt by tko over mayorga the fight before he and floyd fought. so for those that didn't know Floyd has already had that belt manny just won and he got it from a champion not a VACANT TITLE he fought a slow footed, washed up, guy who could barely get a license to box, and it was a 154lb belt that manny fought for at a catch weight of 150. So that defeats the whole perpose of it bein a SUPER WELTER WEIGHT BELT.
from 6.54 till the end of the 8th round was sheer boxing brilliance, look as he strings those combos, body to hooks transitions.. i tell you this now, mannys in for a fight regardless of what anyone says, 40 - 0 and thats the reason, ability to adapt - ricky just tryna smudder him like seasoning on steak !!
@9:48 Floyd Mayweather is such a genius and is so aware of everything going on inside the ring as well as outside the ring that he had time to talk shit to Sugar Shane Mosley whose sitting in the 2nd row and then went back to dominating Hatton.
Mosley ducked Mayweather for a number of years. And Mayweather didn't come in at the actual weight to fight Marquez, because his contract basically told him that he can come between 140 or 147 pounds. So he came in at 146. And Hatton agreed to come up at 147 to fight Mayweather. Forget the fact that Hatton wasn't that great to begin with.
The first 7 rounds of this fight were probably the best Hatton has ever fought...unfortunately he was up against one of the all time greats of boxing and had no chance. Lol
I know you guys saw when Floyd moved Hatton closer to the ropes in order to say wassup to Lil Wayne? Floyd knew exactly where he was and while in a clinch with Hatton moved Hatton closer to the ropes and stuck his tongue out at Lil Wayne.......lol
Mayweather's combos in at the end of round 8 are epic power punch cobos that he should use when he fights pac man if he hopes to beat him too Mayweather all the way
@jaythekinginthe323 He didnt stop the fight too soon,Hattons corner actually threw the towel in at exactly the point the ref stopped it!also this ref had reffed both these 2 fighters several times before and knew them both very well!this is one of the most senior experienced refs in boxing!
Round 8 is absolutely superlative by Mayweather. Rights, lefts, head, body, straight, hooks, uppercuts ... brilliant timing, etc. MASTERCLASS.
beautiful work
Finally another Logical person..I agree with you 100% and couldnt have said it better my self..
I've never seen a fighter who does as many things as well as Floyd, the more i watch him,the more i realize how brilliant he is..like a great movie..
"Keep doing what you just done that round, keep on breaking that ho down" LOL@Roger Mayweather.
Man I love Roger's pep talks!
I was in Vegas for this fight... I just love Hatton's heart in this fight... He never stops coming forward. Mayweather is simply the greatest boxer of all time, surely he has proved that by now...
Hatton's career ended in round 8! That was his last bit of resistance. Floyd was clever to retire for two years too...this was a tough fight!
"Don't worry, they gone rescue that muthafucka!" LOL! Man I love Roger Mayweather!
the way hattons head snaps back is hilarious...snap back and tattoos snap back and tattoos lmao
Round 8 is a Round of Beauty
"...and PUNISHING Hatton in the center of the ring..."
-Lampley cracks me up
The body work by Floyd beginning at 5:30 is tremendous. As a boxer you can't help, but appreciate those types of punches because of how quickly they can wear you down.
I used to try to hate on Floyd...but he is the best of this era...HANDS DOWN
I would love to see a movie, someday, about Mayweather Jr.'s life just like what was done for Micky Ward in "The Fighter". I really would like to know what he's thinking about in the ring against other fighters. Should prove facinating!

Ineffective aggressiveness that’s a good way to put it. lol
if u want to appreciate floyds punches watch them in slow motion esp that straight right hand and left hook..... brings it from below the belt, tilt his head to the side and it comes in unstoppable like a charging bull

your right....just found out over the weekend....thanks
Can't wait till Mosley and Mayweather fight. Should be great.
Beautiful left counter thrown by Mayweather while moving backwards around 3:23
Floyd showing his boxing skills, his heart, his determination, his stamina and his dominating Hatton in the 8th. So that is why you hear nothing from Merchant.
Damn Round 8 was nasty
Floyd jr. is just to good!...
@CaptainT43 I couldnt agree with you more lol I love listening to him when floyd fought judah, and gotti I laugh all the time listening to roger
Mayweather is natural gifted talent with hardwork and intelligence
That punch Floyd hit him with at 5:33. Goodness.
I agree, and it really depends on Manny's game plan. He did manage to get past Cotto's jab, but Cotto didn't have a good defense, and couldn't stop Manny's body attack. So Mayweather is gonna be an entirely different fight.
Matweather is the king of fight styles, he's can adapted to what Evers happening
@munsayac13 Imma ask you a question either if you had these two options which one would you choose? Option 1. 12 mill garunteed and a welterweight champion fight or option 2. 4 mill and a non title shot
I hope Joe Cortez will be the ref on Cotto vs May fight!
He is my idol.
Is it me or is Roger the funniest cornerman in Boxing? "Keep breaking the hoe down" Funny shit!

After the fight Hatton hired Mayweather Sr. That shows me that the kid was also mentally destroyed. Pac knocked Hatton out in two but the kid was already destroyed.
It did look a lot closer on first view than on repeated observations.
Round 8 was pure beatdown! Damn.
That's when you start wondering why the hell you said yes to a figh with Mayweather.
This is some great fucking quality! Good stuff. :)
mayweathers best punch is that lead left hook.
6.51 - Forshadowing.... Mayweather just sneaking in the move that will end the bout, just to test the waters before he delivers it fully... Boxing genius....
lol 7.49 'u breakin that hoe down' roger is hillarious
I swear man, all of the announcers were super slow to realize what Floyd was doing.
@CaptainT43 most def this my fav corner in boxing.
6:59 you can see Marco Antonio Barerra standing up urging Hatton on and grabbing his face in frustration haha
@svp2010 when and how did the beef between larry merchant and mayweather begin?
yeah, mayweather was just makin a show out of it, sizing hatton up and letting him wear himself out for the first half of the fight. Once hatton slowed up from all the pushin and shovin..he was done. Floyd may not have the biggest punch..but hes got stamina for days

Once Mayweather saw that Hatton was an easy target he got him out of there easily. Pacquiao did the same thing in his fight with Hatton except he started it earlier.
round 8 is why floyd is the best
@TippmanFaith I think the beef started between them is when mayweather fought Carlos Baldimir
Hatton is fighting a good fight so far. He's actually winning. But the build up of right hands is accumilating.
you ever notice how Mayweather actually looked like he had more power in his punches?
5:15 great in-fighting by Floyd.
Hatton eating jabs like PB&J LMAOOO
round 8 was the beginning
@MzCHICityHoopa773 you favor Hopkins then huh? cuz I saw it as a UD for Joe
It's funny, when Floyd is being dominant, Larry Merchant is VERY quiet
@ 0:05 Let me explain the beauty of mayweather's style. Look how he rubs his elbow on ricky's cheek. He does it in one motion as he turns his body so he doesnt get cought. This makes ricky mad and makes him punch floyd on the back of the head. Mayweather did the sneaky foul, but hatton paid for it with a point. Amazing how floyd controls not just himself, but his opponent and referee too!
I agree. I barely gave Hatton two rounds, and I had the 6th round pretty even. Mayweather was way ahead on my scorecard, after the 9th round.
GOD Dammn Yoo when Floys gos on the offense he is DEADLY.......HE whoooped his ass!!!!!!!!
he was luring ricky into that far corner the whole fight and hatton never caught on...
That body shot at 5:44 hurt Hatton bad.
I'de like to see a rematch of this fight with another ref.
Merchant barely said a word the entire 8th round. LMAO!!!!
hatton may have gotten a few early rounds, but from round one he was the one getting his head popped back, floyd's didn't get snapped back one time.
Emmanuel Stewart described Hattons performance best as the fight progressed INEFFECTIVE AGGRESION!!!!!!! Floyd did more landed EFFECTIVE, CLEAN punches in rounds 8 and 9 than Hatton did the in the entire bout. Superb uppercut at 5:16 damn

This fight is the poster boy for being picked apart in a pro boxing match.
crowd sounds like they came from a euro soccer match
from 6.54 till the end of the 8th round was sheer boxing brilliance, look as he strings those combos, body to hooks transitions.. i tell you this now, mannys in for a fight regardless of what anyone says, 40 - 0 and thats the reason, ability to adapt - ricky just tryna smudder him like seasoning on steak !!
Classic Merchant at at 3:06.
Lederman is the reason why people think Castillo won the first fight.
Cortez has chilled out a bit
@9:48 Floyd Mayweather is such a genius and is so aware of everything going on inside the ring as well as outside the ring that he had time to talk shit to Sugar Shane Mosley whose sitting in the 2nd row and then went back to dominating Hatton.
Beautiful straight right hand at 2:00
Right at 6:59, the way Ricky's head snapped back he looked like a baby bird begging the mother for worms
the reason why Ricky is ahead is because of the aggression he show
Nope... the 13th of March in 2010, according to a few sources...
Nice left hook at 6:58
reason why mayweather is one of the best 10:39-10:41
Floyd just pummeled Hatton in the 8th round.
who says floyd can't engage, he was puttin a whuppin on ricky!
Floyd is a good fighter. You can't be 41-0 and not be good. But to say he is the best is a stretch. If he is the best he will fight the best.
@Sivad103 12mill with whom?
@MzCHICityHoopa773 then you admit Calzaghe had more boxing ability than Hopkins?
The first 7 rounds of this fight were probably the best Hatton has ever fought...unfortunately he was up against one of the all time greats of boxing and had no chance. Lol
I know you guys saw when Floyd moved Hatton closer to the ropes in order to say wassup to Lil Wayne? Floyd knew exactly where he was and while in a clinch with Hatton moved Hatton closer to the ropes and stuck his tongue out at Lil Wayne.......lol
Hatton fought a pretty good fight even tho he got knocked out...
wtf did lederman said about the cutmen?
U cant compare a Mayweather fight because his style is unlimited what u see in one fight u may not see in other fights
@WhatsAfterThisPlace i have no idea buddy...
LOLLL it all started with that uppercut at 5:20
Who is the guy talking to mayweather in the corner they look alike
Mayweather's combos in at the end of round 8 are epic power punch cobos that he should use when he fights pac man if he hopes to beat him too
Mayweather all the way
Look at that body shot at 5:45 Hatton legs buckled
@jaythekinginthe323 He didnt stop the fight too soon,Hattons corner actually threw the towel in at exactly the point the ref stopped it!also this ref had reffed both these 2 fighters several times before and knew them both very well!this is one of the most senior experienced refs in boxing!
