I have been with my best friend as she has been going through this. Her husband passed of a massive heart attack at 50, completely unexpectedly, 5 years ago. She is just now beginning to be able to see a future for herself. All I can offer is to tell you what I tell her every chance I get, love yourself. Surround yourself with people that love you and are cheerleaders for you. Pick a good girlfriend and go have a spa day and get your hair and nails done, or do what we do, and open a bottle of wine and do each other's makeup and nails...it can be great fun and thouroughly amusing, lol. I will add you to my prayers, Helen.

I went to beauty school wayyyyy back in 1971, then I was a teacher in the field of cosmetology, loved the talent of my students. Get real. Black hair is no more difficult than white hair. As with any hair, you have to be willing to learn and bring in clients, but it's been done time and time again over the many, many decades that Black people have been doing hair.

I would not have never ever guess that was a wig.
I showed my son the picture of her with the hair and asked him if it was real or fake. He said real. When I showed him the before shot, his jaw literally dropped. Amazing transformation! I absolutely love this on her. She’s gorgeous!

The main reason I don't wear a wig or even any custom units anymore is because they lack a totally natural look - yours is the exception. You did absolutely right. People who don't know what we do need verbal as well as visual instruments. You make it simple so they understand. You cut your perimeter (point of destination) then your middle guide (point of origin) so they know where to start and stop cutting for a evenly distributed cut. And I too love a straight razor. You're an excellent instructor. ❤
