Day Out of the Shelter for YoYo the Staffy X Sharpei

- Introducing this sweet boy YoYo the Staffy x Sharpei who is just 11 months old.
YoYo has been in the shelter now sometime and is getting a little more anxious about it as the days go by.
You might remember YoYo as the very nervous one in the corner of his pen when Luke first met the dogs. Well this morning was no different. YoYo was very nervous. He was afraid and gave a few growls towards Luke. You have to understand this is a boy who has been let down and spent most of his life in the shelter. He is going to take some time to trust.
Luke was hopeful that he might get to the farm and let all that nervous energy wash away so that he could enjoy being a dog free at the farm for the day. Well it turned out better than that.
YoYo became the dog we figure he must have been at one time. A puppy! Bouncy, playful, loving the toys, joyful, zooming and loving on Luke. An affectionate boy.
YoYo had an absolutely wonderful day, we were so surprised to be honest. It made us realise that one day just isn’t enough for some of these dogs. We need to give more. And whilst we’re in lockdown we’d like to commit to training and socialising them whilst we’re able to. Giving them the best chance of adoption. They’ve been overlooked so many times before, we owe it to them.
So Jake and YoYo are staying over at the farm and training starts tomorrow. They’re very excited about it. So are we.

The purpose of these farm days is to give these pups a great day, but to more importantly give them a greater chance of finding a home. Because that’s what’s most important here. The dogs this week and last week have all been overlooked too many times to count. They’ve got their issues sure, but it’s nothing that can’t be helped with the right training, which we’re offering with adoption free of charge. They all want and deserve a home and a loving person of their own. Someone who’ll love them warts and all, and is willing to put the time in to help them.

I was in tears picturing YoYo going back to the tin can he's been living in. But as usual, you and Sam with your tremendous hearts, are letting him stay for awhile. How very generous and kind. Exactly what this world needs more of especially in these hard times. Bless you all.

Luke and Sam. What can I say…..You two are just awesome people! Wow! Tears are flowing, they were before you told us that YoYo is staying with you for proper training! I have watched all the doggies visiting from the shelter and it broke my heart for each of them, that they had to go back after a perfect day at the farm. Thank you so much for believing in these doggies and going that extra mile to find them their ‘furever’ loving families! You two are the best! ❤️😘🙏🏻
I am in tears!! You have hearts of pure love and compassion. The change in YoYo once he was off the bus running free and being a joyful, carefree dog was just fabulous.
I have seen cases where a doggie like Yoyo overcomes most of his anxiety and learns to trust make great pets. Amazing how Yoyo responds to touch, it is like healing for him, out of his shell and what a puppy! How well mannered for all he is going through. They seem to never forget who saved them.
Yo Yo...you just won the doggie lottery...
Seems his growling at the shelter folks could be his way of saying "I am sick of this place...who wouldn't have anxiety living on that cement cage.
It was so exciting to see Yo Yo run free when the leash was removed...and the way his face lightened and brightened to an awesome "staffy" SMILE

Staffies do that to you. They are the most amazing creatures in the world. The best family dog you can have. They're loving, protective and total goofballs. We've rescued 5 and wouldn't have it any other way. They complete us.
Speaking from experience my hubby and I rescue dogs that are the hardest cases. All it takes is love, patience and structure. These dogs just need a chance. If someone will give him that, it will change not only the dogs life but yours as well. Please, please just give yo-yo a chance! He will make a lifelong true companion! Omg, I’m so happy you didn’t send him back and are going extra mile with him! I’m literally in tears. Thank you, thank you.
Before the end I was thinking how hard it would be to take YoYo back. He was a changed dog in just one day. Thanks for caring and giving these dogs a better chance of happiness.

Love Staffies they get a bad wrap but the ones I’ve come across and they are the most awesome loving dogs. Yo-yo looks to have had an awesome day Luke thanks for giving them a loving day on the farm to get their loving furever homes. Thank you for keepjng YoYo for more rehab. Today was a stressful day, but he was so happy to get to the farm. He just wants to be with loving people, not in a dark narrow cage. Luke, Sam and all the DDFT crew you are all angels on earth. Witth all the upheaval in the world right now it is nice to see a family doing wonderful things for these dogs. Keep up the good work..

The tears are welling up. What a wonderful thing to do for YoYo. I can only imagine the psychological toll of being locked up hour after hour. That is evident on the transformation of YoYo in such a short time. No matter how good the shelter, they simply cannot provide that bonding relationship that dogs need. Bless your family for having such kind hearts.
Well said - and only being 11 months old, his experiences to date outside of the kennel must be minimal.
4 months on and this dog has come such a long way. Trained, socially integrated and a new home. Visitor to the day care. Who would have thought. Thanks Luke and Sam for this gift to the world.

Oh my gosh, he is just the cutest. He has definitely been through the ringer, poor little guy, he has so much to give, to the right person. I so hope he finds his forever person, his is just amazing. Once Yo Yo got to the farm, he was so different! So cute he is, especially when he’s prancing and doing zoomies! I love that he loves playing with the toys! Yo Yo couldn’t believe the birthday chicken cake was for him. Bless you Luke, Sam and team for the training of the dogs! I had happy tears Yo Yo didn’t have to go back to that cage! He will make a great companion for someone! Was good to see Jake in training!
I've been waiting to see Yoyo since the first time at the shelter and I'm am delighted to see the happy and adventurous guy he is outside the cage. Luke, you are an absolute wonder with animals, I'm continually amazed at what you can accomplish with your quite encouragement

Perfect name for him. On first release he bounced up and down with such joy and exuberance. I can't imagine the feeling inside to run around free after living in a cage . You are the dog saint!

Yeah! Keeping YoYo overnight to be able to work with him was just a great present for him. I am very impressed with you and your farm. Sorry for the lock-down, but what a great gift you are giving to those dogs in the shelter. Hopefully, someone will see the good that you see in them and will give them a chance. I love what you are doing. Wish that you were in Texas.
Jojo has such a joyfull spring. U could see his happines to run around. I hope he finds a home soon, and in the meantime a foster care. He really can not stay in a shelter cage.

I never imagined just how sweet YoYo was at first meeting at the shelter. I can imagine how many others thought the same thing. I'm typing this through tears of joy for Yoyo! If anyone can bring out the best in this boy it's Luke and Sam! I didn't think you guys could be more awesome and you are. This was just fantastic to watch, I can't believe the change in yoyo from the pen to the farm, It is amazing what a little love and proper attention can do to a dog, You guys are beyond amazing when it comes to these dogs, He could give so many more years of love to the right family. I can't wait to see follow up video's in the future with all the dogs from the pen.

I have worried about this dog since you first showed him at the shelter. Just as some humans cannot handle prisons, there are dogs who are wrecked by confinement. He was so scared and miserable. I doubt if he would have made it in there mentally much longer before shutting down. All I can say now is God Bless you all, and best wishes for little YoYo.

I have been very anxious for YoYo to have "his day". I could tell from your first visit to the shelter that he needed some extra TLC the most. No surprise he got that and more.
