Hey man, just wanted to say I love watching your series. This is one of the videos I come back to often. I like seeing you do odd builds to see if getting through hell Baal is possibly without me fighting normal Diablo for 30+ mins lol I live vicariously through this series because I’m short on time but loved d2r.
Oh man someone watching my videos multiple times is such an unreal realisation. Thank you! I love d2r as well and am planning on continuing the series for years to come. But I'll mix in some other games as well so I don't burn out. Comments like these make it all worth it :D
Ah yes, the Queen of Blades. I'm working on a bladesin atm on HC ladder now (she's a remake of a bowsin i lost in a Hell Countess run and I decided to remake her for the tail-end of this ladder) and uh yeah, Venom = not great. Particularly not for this build. Whoever told you that was wrong. Like if you're going to use Venom it needs to be maxed, first off. Second you need to use it in either a melee or bow build. See the way Blade fury works is it takes off a quarter of your weapon's damage, which includes IIRC whatever boosts your weapon damage - which includes Venom. But the other problem with Venom is that it truncates all its damage to 0.4 seconds, which because the game runs on 25 frames per second means Venom's damage is applied over 10 frames. Blade Fury however runs on 6 frames per attack (i.e. per those ninja stars) WHICH MEANS you're never actually applying the full Venom damage to begin with. It can only ever apply just over half of it before the next shuriken lands and resets the Venom application. Now that said Venom would work ok with Blade Sentinel because it has a next hit delay effect of 1 second so Venom's full damage gets applied. And Blade Shield as well but as you no doubt have noticed if you're getting hit for Blade Shield to matter something's gone very wrong. So yeah it's actually a much worse skill for this build than it usually is, usually it's not bad as a supplemental form of damage. My recommendation would be to not put points into it but instead use something like Treachery and have the lvl 15 Venom proc just as a supplement. Blade Fury procs chance to strike effects. So it would basically be up all of the time. Better way to build a Bladesin imo is to use claws and max out claw mastery. You get a critical strike percentage from CM. But also the blade skills work by adding damage rather than +% enhanced damage to an attack. That's why on-weapon +% is not that great like it *usually is* because the weapon damage is being reduced 3/4. BUT then the Blade damage is added, and THEN off-weapon +% damage gets applied and it applies to that Blade damage as well. So this build really shines with off-weapon +% enhanced damage. Fortitude is the bis armour runeword for the build, and if you don't go dual claws then one of the high end shield runewords - Phoenix I think - is bis as well. A Might merc is good as well but the Barb merc is a good tank and if you're not going to use a Shadow you kinda need a good tank. Anyway good video. Gonna apply the lessons you've learned to my own Bladesin. :)
Thank you for explaining that. I was so confused and ended up just picking up every weapon I found and just trying what did more damage. I wanted to go dual claw but didn't find a single claw that was even remotely reasonable. I could force dual claw next time but it would be a very very challenging run for sure. BiS items are not happening in a solo self found run unless the stars fully align. I could do a part 2 to see if I could get there or something but that would be purely a farming video. Good luck with your bladesin!
@@thenuclearrabbit speak up next time I could have gave +3 trap claws, +3 trap Amy, +3 trap tiara or +2 sin tiara then of course you could use treachery. Crazy boost
I've never put point into Venom on an assassin. But when I put a Treachery on a rouge merc, I really noticed the poison damage! Allows her to kill double immunes pretty easily.
Reminds me of when I use to play the original, I’d try to make every build you can think of work and some were pretty successful that it would confuse my friends who always followed cookie cutter builds.
If you have tons of plus skills venom adds a lot of damage. If you equip Trang gloves it will add 25% more poison damage as well even if you just pre buff with it.
You absolutely need ED on your weapon, it's the most important stat for damage. Your blade skill damage on balde fury and blade sentinel are added to your weapon, and then multiplied by the weapons enhanced damage, so if you have 2 weapons with 250 maximum damage, but one is 350% enhanced damage and the other is 250% enhanced damage, the weapon with 350% enhanced damage will have significantly higher overall damage from the blade skills due to the higher enhanced damage.
Ah ic. So that's how it works and explains perfectly why the aldurs weapon did so well. Thank you I had a really hard time finding info about it and the bit I did get was wrong apparently.
That's totally wrong. Damage for blade fury is calculated as follows: the dmg from the blade skill is added to 75% dmg of 1H weapon, then the result gets multiplied by %ED from stats (depending on the primary weapon), gear (fortitude) and skills (might aura), all summed up. Daggers and claws have their %ED based on 75% of DEX and STR summed up together, so they are the first choice. Also note that %ED vs undead and demons does count, so that is why Aldur's mace is good (+200%ED vs demons) while having low dmg (
@@tecnicadellamoto4903 there are a lot more sources, including Maxroll, that say it works how I described. Off weapon ED definitely adds to the damage, but the skill damage is added directly to the 75% base weapon damage BEFORE your on weapon ED (primary only) is added. Then *all* off weapon ED is added. This is the reason blade skills are capable of such staggering damage on a proper build, I have one on single player that wipes p8 last wave of baals in 3-4 seconds if none of them run away (lacerator build). If you aren't worried about physical immune and high physical resist, a high damage death weapon to max deadly strike and attack damage (high ED) is one of, if not the best weapon, although a fade build may want to make it in a military spike for better attack speed to drop traps if they are annoyed by slow death sentry and blade sentinel lays Side note, blade shield specifically does not have off weapon ED applied, it is strictly on weapon ED modified. Plenty of sources out there, even a couple places with the actual formulas pulled straight out of the game
@@thatguy7369 It doesn't work like that, neither in pre 2.4 patch (the formulas you are referring to are for old D2); you are misunderstanding what off weapon %ED is. I use maxroll calculator since it uses directly the files of the game, and it's actually good; as example it perfectly detected the bug/hidden sinergy for the shockwave bear silently added in 2.5. Do the math: scissor suwayah 40-51 dmg, no %ED, 120 STR, 120 DEX, lvl 20 blade fury fully sinergized 505-515: total damage: 1498-1549. Add a scissor suwayah +300ED% as secondary weapon: no change in damage. Swap between primary and secondary weapon and the damage increases uo to 1750-1870. Again, add a scissor suwayah +300ED% as secondary weapon: no change in damage. Make an EDGE RW into a short bow (1-4 dmg), select a normal fallen, and damage bumps up to over 3110.
Totally wrong, weapon ED is the one stat that you can basically ignore because all it does is already reflected on the weapon's damage. A 50-60 damange weapon with 200% ED will say 150-180 damage on it, that's it. There's not a single skill in the game can get more benefit from the weapon ED apart from it increase the weapon base damage.

I'm closer to 40 than 30 now and still playing haha. It is what it is
i like your playthroughs but I just cant stand how badly u distribute your skill points.... bone necro without the clay golem... sin without the shadow master or mind blast, ... but maxed venom, lol
Thx I guess... me playing different from you doesn't make me bad though, so please word that differently in the future
