@ Ndubuisi, thank you so much for your comment, you really said it all "That second man was presenting himself as learned, but his illiteracy was revealed in its starkness during the interview."1
Delta Igbos are Igbos. There is no doubt in my mind. Other cultures surround us, but we maintain our similarities with the Igbo’s in language, tradition, and culture.
I like the unity and the information, some of them are ignorant, and some of us from the mainland Igbo are not well informed about them too, but all I know is that we're One family undivided. But the mainland Igbo states should try to organise igbo general day with all, that will elevate the understanding and cooperation with them more easily. Udo dili ümü igbo nilë nä'ahä Jesus isëëë 💪💪💪
Ika is igbo, I’m from ika south anioma delta state, the problem here is that most people fails to understand the difference between language and dialect/tribe, if you go to abia state they have their own dialect same goes for an mbaise man in imo state, same goes for an izza man in enonyi and same goes for an ikwerre man in rivers state, nobody is asking you to throwaway your dialect but try and learn how to speak the centralized igbo language, go to the northern part of Nigeria they’ve found a way of introducing the hausa curriculum into their educational system and also made it compulsory for northers to speak hausa too. Like the saying goes “all igbos are king” na here the wahala pass come because nobody wan gree learn from him brother, everybody dey form I too know. Ohaneze needs to do something about this and unite all igbos from the east to south and even to some northern states I.e benue.
I love that your question! "How can you be part of who you are not?" That second man was presenting himself as learned, but his illiteracy was revealed in its starkness during the interview. This Ika dialect is somehow related to Owerri dialect. It appears to be a mixture of Owerri and Ọmambala/Ọka dialects. They will say,"Ọ́nwà wụ ụmụ m". In my community we say,"Nnwọọ bụ ụmụ m". They will say;"Alị Ika rị mma" Owerri people will say,;"Ala Owerri rị mma". Ika,;"Efa m wụ......." Ọmambala",Afa m bụ....." Owerri,;"Aha m wụ......"
You just don’t want to accept the truth. You can be part of something that you are not. If you are half white and half black, you can be part white and not white. I know this explanation maybe too complicated for you. Igue festival is Benin, the obi of Agbor is Benin and he has said it himself. Osadebe(Osadebame), Ovia, Okowa, Obaigbena, Ogomudia are all Edo origin names not Igbos.. I know Biafrans and Odua people want to claim what’s not there’s. It’s painful when the people themselves tell you their origin is neither Igbo or Yoruba but Edo(Benin) 😅 this Ika man just named all is villages they all sound Edo to Benin. Ika is a mixture of two dialects (Igbo and Benin). While there're elements of Igbo culture and tradition in Ika way of life, we shouldn't neglect the other part of their culture/language (Benin tradition) that's not Igbo because there are Ika people whose lineage are Benin. It becomes bias and unfair to tag a tribe by virtual of some their dialect/culture without considering the other part of their culture that is not Igbo. Even the core Igbo tribes deep down their heart don't acknowledge the Ika people as full-blooded Igbos, so why the pretense here?
Ikaland is Igboland, Igbo from rivers, Anambra, Abia, benue, kogi etc listen, understand and follow ika tv but bini person less than 2 kilometres doesn't understand anything. How Igbo is Ika? Quoting Uguru (2010/2015)(UNN linguistics professor) verbatim, "Ika phonology differs from that of standard Igbo and other Igbo dialects and that is why the study of Ika has been of major interest to Igbo linguists in recent years.{Williamson (1968) noted earlier that Ika and Ukwani are linguistically different from other Igbo dialects} .Here, we discuss the nasal and nasalised sounds existent in IKa.These include consonants and vowels". Uguru ( 2010) reports that Ika, though not an Edoid language, has all the typical Edoid vowels, even when all do not exist in all the affected languages.Edoid Languages such as Bini, Urhobo, Isoko and Degema have many vowels (seven to ten) ail of which can be nasalised."Ika has nine-vowel system including schwa.Further, Ika has nine nasal vowels; standard Igbo and other dialects of Igbo have no nasal vowels. The existence of many nasalised vowels in Ika confirms our earlier hypothesis that this dialect might be sharing certain features with Edoid languages which tend to have many vowels (Azazi,2005).Ika, like some inland East Igbo dialects also manifests consonantal nasalisation. In the inland East Igbo dialects, there is only progressive assimilation of nasality ( left to right), in Ika there are both progressive and regressive assimilation of this feature, a confirmation that Ika is linguistically different from other Igbo dialects. In 2010, the Holy Bible (New Testament)was translated into Ika. There have been moves to grant Ika a language status,as seen in the assignment of a unique reference code to Ika: the ISO language code to Ika is ISO:639-3 ikk, while that of Igbo is ISO:639--3ibo" (Wikipedia,2004). Further details are contained in the cited published articles below.(Nasal vowels in Ika: Transcription.Journal of West African languages xxxvii2(2010); IKa.Journal of the International Phonetic Association, July 2015, both by J.O Uguru) Comment.Ika only shares vocabulary with Igbo(without Igbo linguistics as noted by professor Uguru above) .Ika has Edoid linguistics,Bini culture,Bini traditions and Bini customs. Ika having close contacts with both Igbo and Edo is reminiscent of the scenario recorded by Google (2023) of loss of 573 indigenous Languages {8 in Nigeria, Wikipedia (2023)} by speakers after embracing dominant languages, thus resulting to contact with non-indigenous Languages.NOTE:Igbo scholars have produced intellectual papers on Ika studies for public guidance. Those who still discuss Ika ignorantly are wasting their time.

NNAA Mehntv ,This interview is contradictory to the attitude of Igbos towards ikas. Recently ,after the appointment of the current CDS ,Gen Irabor ,an Ika man ,the media was awash with his unanimous rejection as an Igbo appointee by Igbos including ohaneze officials.Thier contention is that Irabor is not Igbo name l Right here in my library is a work on Igbo history by Igbo scholar who ascribed Ominije ancestry of Bini root to Agbor people. is he right?.let us together examine the activities of Ika ancestors. They established Ika communities with sustainable model ( Bini nomenclature inclusive) of Bini organized society consisting of community layout into ogbes and idumus, kingship system made of Bini kingship offices, Bini igue religious festival and common taboos ,etc . This is not East of the Niger community model. While great Nnamdi Azikiwe was addressing Igbo assembly in Aba in 1949 ,he stated that there was no record in African history that any part of Igbo land was conquered by African invaders.Ikas couldn't have been conquered Igbos as insinuated by those who do not have knowledge of history. The question is ,why are ikas not speaking Bini? Historians are aware that language can never tell tribal identity in some cases.Examples are to be discussed subsequently. International Languages services (2022) notes that 573 out of 7000 spoken languages on the planet have become extinct.8 of such tribes that lost their languages were recorded in Nigeria(Wikipedia,2022) These tribes now speak the languages of other tribes as well as answering their names.ILS ( 2022) states that extinction occurs when a dormant language appears on the scene.Dorminant Swahili language, native only to coastal Kenya and Tanzania, and littoral islands, adopted as official language in 1960, is currently spoken in over 13 countries with many of their respective tribal languages at extinction risk due to decreasing number of speakers .Edo indigenes of Akoko Edo area of the state speak Yoruba and also answer Yoruba names .Ika communities posses VERIFIABLE historical evidences including symbols for the identity of the home tribes outside SE from where the ancestors migrated into Ika land. This by extension indicated they spoke non -ika languages which later became extinct before the emergence of ika language. A reminant of the original ancestral language is Oza which is still spoken in parts of Ika --south.In-- the above cases the spoken languages are divorced from the ancestries. Is Ika a dialect of Igbo? According to Uguru(2015)(Igbo prof at UNN) Ika possesses unique linguistics which is distinct from common linguistics of Igbo and it's dialects. Uguru (2015) added that the unique linguistics which is absent in Igbo and it's dialects is reflected in the translation of the Bible into Ika language. Again ,Ika has unique multilingual vocabulary consisting of it's lexicon, words from Igbo,Bini esan, The international linguistic code of Ika is:ISO language code:639- 3 ikk, which is separate from that of Igbo and it's dialects:ISO language code:639-2 ibo( Google,2022).Note that Igbo dialects have the same linguistics and language code with Igbo which conforms with the definition of a dialect of being specific form of a language. on the other hand ,Ika differs from Igbo in linguistics, language code and in part vocabulary content. But both have part common vocabulary , connoting similarity. Please Note that linguistic coding, like botanical nomenclature ,is international practice and has nothing to do with the 'divide and rule'' local politics. When Biafran soldiers occupied Mid West in the wake of the civil war many defenceless Ika civilians were killed in Ika land. Were Igbos East of the Niger killed by the same Biafran soldiers? The expression 'Ika igbo' which is a linguistic misnomer is used for expansionist motive ,The same applies to this exercise.

You're right, maybe they are afraid they think they will be killed if they agree they are Igbo

They will say;"Alị Ika rị mma"
Owerri people will say,;"Ala Owerri rị mma".

Ọmambala",Afa m bụ....."
Owerri,;"Aha m wụ......"
You just don’t want to accept the truth. You can be part of something that you are not. If you are half white and half black, you can be part white and not white. Even the core Igbo tribes deep down their heart don't acknowledge the Ika people as full-blooded Igbos, so why the pretense here?
well said. It would be recalled that they rejected the appointment of the current CDS ,Gen Irabor ,as a non igbo appointee.

The names of their villages and towns are Igbo. Less than 1% of the migrant bini population of Ikaland cannot change the narrative. All ika traditional rulers from time immemorial had been Obi, until ikechukwu the current one changed it to dien. Is obi bini?
I liked your comment by smashing the like button but I will agree with that the greater Igbo population do not accept Ika people as Igbo, we do but for the fact that some people of Ika do not accept themselves as Igbo but now I have to come to understand why they do so. From what I learnt from the Omu of Anioma and other people from the rivers, is that some originated from Igbo while some migrated from Benin. This is why some will not accept that they are Igbo.
This is one of the most ignorant take I have read in all this excuse for identity crisis, you mean, ika, ukwani(kwale) and the culture (iwaji) is different from that of the igbos, and you think writing big epistles proove your point.
For your info, igbo dialects differ from each other and also that of central igbo..
The same thing a person named "SUNDAY OGOCHUKWU OLISEH" says he's not an igbo man.
Well you can't force people to identify with you, can you?
We practising things which lseralite do in Nigeria dose it make us lseralite.
You know a people by their names, language, culture and tradition. All these are same all over Igboland and ikaland. Go and watch ika tv, what they speak is a dialect of Igbo, they don't have another language. Igbo never colonised any tribe. The only less than 5% variation is called dialect in language. Every language has dialects. Hausa and Yoruba have various dialects.
Story
What culture of the Israelites,or Jews do you know
Awesome bro!
We move bro.
This one sweet me die 😋 ❤ 😍 💖
We are one
Tv presenter come to Benin city you heard the first man said they have lgue festive go and verify in Benin city,
I know you will never .what I ask you now please Tv presenter go to Anambra and ask who are the Originally Anambra people or who formed it .Benin have for market day's.
Anyways NNameen thank you so much for doing this. Please befor you let them out of you sight, tell them there is nothing like ibo people etc Tell them they are ibos!!!!
Next time, you should go and interview a renowned traditional ruler in the place.
That tall man with spec is completely lost. It's quite unfortunate!
He’s a funny man 😂this is the effect of low mentality
That name Ohaneze Ndi Igbo is so rotating, they are corrupt politicians thinking for their selfish interest and their deepest pockets not for the collective interests of the Igbo. May God bless and protect this young man who take this hard job upon himself searching for their cousins, nieces, uncles, aunties and relatives because blood is thicker than water
Just discovered the osogo people in cross river.they speak with exactly ezza dialect. I know will we soon visit them to hear from them. But the amenities there is so poor
Ahianjoku is the same all over Igboland. It is the god of the farmland and we use YAM to celebrate it.
😂😂cimmentator asked whats de major crop used de festival he said yam. Commentator said thank u😂😂😂mr commentator u need to be a lawyer 😂😂😂
The man mentioned lgue festive who own lgue festive is the Benin.
The ancient edo have yam festive and also have four merket days ,the confusion is the benins of present edo are not the indigenous to igodomigo land this the problem
They are the real Igodomigodo People and related to both the Ibos and Yoruba. The Bini markets days is the same as the Ibos market days and the Igue or Yam festival is also celebrated in Bini.
Thank you use all your power to capturepeople that have crises of identity. It doesn't work when you meet real people.
ASK ANY IKA PERSON TO MENTION THEIR BODY PARTS IN IKA LANGUAGE.....
NNAA Mehntv ,This interview is contradictory to the attitude of Igbos towards ikas. Recently ,after the appointment of the current CDS ,Gen Irabor ,an Ika man ,the media was awash with his unanimous rejection as an Igbo appointee by Igbos including ohaneze officials.Thier contention is that Irabor is not Igbo name l
Right here in my library is a work on Igbo history by Igbo scholar who ascribed Ominije ancestry of Bini root to Agbor people. is he right?.let us together examine the activities of Ika ancestors.
Well spoken
This dogo trenchi didn't touch the core of the matter. You know a people by their names, villages and town meanings, culture and tradition. How come an Igbo person from Abia state over 100 kilometres hears and interact with an Agbor person whereas someone in Edo apart from Igbanke people couldn't do so. The first time I entered Agbor, I went to the local markets and even attended church on a Sunday I never needed an interpreter because they speak a dialect of Igbo that 97% similar to other Igbo dialects. In my hotel, I listened to ikatv and understood all their programs. Less than 1% of bini escapees from the ruthless Oba who settled in ikaland will not change the narrative, ikaland is Igboland and ika people are Igbo. Igbo didn't deny Gen. Irabor but wanted someone from Southeast geo political zone. Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa who's Igbo is representing South South geopolitical zone. Any community that operates 4 markets day calendar, celebrates new yam festival, ifejioku, okparaukwu patrimony is Igbo.
@@chijinduchizoba7194 Edo has Four market days and also celebrates yam festival infact Igue festival(yam festival) of Edo people is the most renowned worldwide so Mr man quit your cheap lies and propaganda!! IKA IS NOT IGBO !!
As a non igbo,,I once had a friend whose name was Chibuzor, whenever we say he is ibo,he would say he is not,and it really got me confused even till today.
