Better then last year. How much better? Remains to be seen. But the only way to go from last years defense is up

I think off the pure numbers you showed. But I believe the difference that will increase those numbers is the defensive coaching staff, who will maximize the talent. The other factor is a much improved offense... hopefully, we will be able to sustain long drives given the defense time to have fresh legs.
CU will 1000% have one of the best defenses in the Big12. This chart excludes corners and a new defensive scheme. CU's defense was a lot better towards the end of last season because they got comfortable. The goal was to make them comfortable immediately this season and to feature playmakers more. The LBs are faster, the DTs are bigger and stronger, the EDGES are versatile and athletic. They are all on the same team now which should improve each of their indv metrics. Better corners means better pass rush. Bigger and stronger DTs means more plays for LBs.
Thank you Dave. I get tired of other youtubers (non buffs supporters) posting about how players don't want stay with CU when it's not hard to find the information to prove the team has gotten better. Even this time last year the same numbers would have proved CU was better then the 1-11 team the year before that.
So easy to find that info and yet everyone ignores it. Anyone that says CU is not improved just isn't actually looking and is just a hater.
If the 2024 D line was on the 2023 team, the Buffs would have went 8-4 with the 2023 O line 😂. The Big 12 had been considered weak, even with Texas and Oklahoma. The Buffs are at popularity level that will get everyone’s best shot. That’s what I’m wanting the team to be prepared for, playoff games every week 😂

I think we’ll have an average/slightly above average defense this year. Elite? I don’t think there’s a chance of that. But I think there’s a chance of CU’s defense being OK. With the weapons we have on offense, all we really need is OK from the defense to win 7-8 games (what I think we do this year)
I think we can be a top 25 defense this year.

Defense is going to be 10x better. They bulked up in the middle and got pass rushers on the edge

The defense has definitely improved because there have been improvements to the defensive line, linebackers, and the defensive coaching staff over last year. My only concern is the Secondary. That’s why I believe Travis should play defense exclusively. The safety positions are still a question. I agree with you though, an improved defense, even slightly, takes a lot of pressure off of the offense.

I don't think Coach Prime put enough effort in beefing up that D-line he did the O-line. And If Cokes and McNeil are still going to be the starters then they are in trouble
McNeil is a good player, and was one of the only bright spots on the defense. Cokes is the problem. He’s not fast or strong enough to warrant being as small as he is
You are tripping. This defense will be one of the best defenses in their conference.
All i wanna see is discipline football.. knock off the dumb penalties.... Stop the run and get pressure on the qb without a all out blitz
Just be an average defense. They were literally one of the worst last season. With a mediocre defense we would have went 6-6 or 7 and 5 last season
