A real super man who follows the only true hero, Jesus
I used to watch Don race at my home track in York, Pa. and I have several pictures of him that I took myself as a young man. Now that I am a Christian I have so much more admiration and appreciation for who he is as a man living for Jesus! Thank you Don for inspiring so many young people and for continuing to inspire older people like me (65 yrs young ) to live for Jesus and follow our dreams!!! GOD BLESS YOU DON and thank you for doing this interview , it has stirred me in my spirit to keep on pushing ahead even in my older years !!!!!

My Dad drove Pro Stock & Funny Cars in the early to late 1960s before he went to Vietnam. I got to sit in BIG DADDY's Lap and do a burnout nothing like it in the world it was one of the #1 highlights of my life. I would stand behind the Christmas tree in a fireman's jacket and helmet with face shield and watch them go down the track and having rubber from the tires hitting me so much fun BIGLOVE to Don Garlits he is the BIG DADDY of the drag strip. I still have all the shirts and hats he autograft for me he is the greatest of all times #1.

The man believes and it's gotten him through hell and back. He's a good human being and I'm so glad to hear his stories again! I also want to say that I have called out to the angels when I hit a patch of ice on the highway and I promise you that they came and slowed time down and what should have been a complete smash into a concrete divider turned out to be a mere bump. I know the angels did that. It's real.

I saw him in February 2021, I wished I saw this video before I went there. I asked about having him sign a poster/photo of my car, they said he wasn't there at the time, went and got the poster/photo, went back in and talked about the process of getting the photo signed. While talking, out pops Big Daddy Don Garlits saying, did I hear somebody wanted something signed. He signed the poster/photo and allowed to get a photo of him, myself and the poster/photo.
Great to hear his testimony.

I met you at Arlington Washington drag strip 1965. The Swamp Rat was a clear winner. Your interview here was so emotional I saw you whip a tear from your eye I was in tears the whole way through. God has blessed you many times over all these years. At age 75 now I feel honored to watch you again. I've been a good fan and proud to tell you I've been a good Lutheran all my life. Don has been my drag racing hero since I was a kid and that is a few years ago. Proud to know you are Christian believer.
I remember back in 72, Don losing apart of his foot. As a teenager I watched his continual record breaking & setting runs....weeks on end.
I’m a lifelong Don Garlits fan who came to believe as he does in midlife.
I have seen God’s hand on my life many times, both before and after I accepted Christ.
Almost drove off a 100 foot high partially constructed ramp in a winter storm. I was alone but heard a loud voice telling me to stop in an authoritative voice.
I did and realized something wasn’t right. Walked to the front of the car and saw I was just a couple of car length short of launching.
There are other things that in retrospect were either God, unexplainable, or I am insanely lucky.
But I have seen enough to know Don Garlits is right. And that the Bible is true.

I was on my to way to a friends home to do a bible study and it was very cold and windy as I reached the top of the hill I hit the black ice and all I saw was trees , utility poles and farm houses as the car kept spinning . A voice was very clearly yelling me to not give up and keep driving don't hit the brakes . I did what I was told and it seemed like forever but the van got straightened just as I looked to my right and saw a car that went into the field earlier and the driver must have went for help earlier . God gave me the directions that I needed and still does but those quick prayers get quick answers and I always thank God for being there for me .
Best interview I have watched in a long time
Only been to one NHRA event in Pomona, early 90's. Felt my spine thru my sternum on first exhibition pass by J.Amato to kickoff the show. Up to this point I'd been a regular at Long Beach GP🏁.
BUT managed to appreciate the show of Raw Horsepower and got to see Big Daddy riding around in his golf cart that day and the appreciation he got from anybody that he passed by. Too Cool!!

Had a foot injury an can empathize, the pain is something else as your mobility is hampered and the meds are strongest the farther the injury is from the heart ( extremities). Eventually the pain subsides as the healing progresses. But you never forget the injury and you Will pray for the pain to end. As you begin to heal physically & emotionally.

I’ve had my hair done garage for years. I was about 14 when he broke the 200 mile an hour barrier I have a model of that slingshot dragster to this day. I am a born-again Christian also he is one of my heroes.

No kidding, and I didn't listen,. I didn't change my ways and now I am paying for it. As to not sound like a back stabber , that happened 28 years ago and it went through one ear out the other. Plenty of chances to change and make a move that didn't happen. It was not me, someone else, going to work one morning, light was red , then turned green and they tried to get through the green light, did everything, but the car wouldn't move. Looked up 4 seconds later and a jerk ran a red light,. After the car went by they could move,. I should have taken that into consideration , and didn't,. I made choices that were very, very bad. In 1998, and January of 2000 my life changed for the worst. It doesn't pay to be stupid or make bad choices, I did it all except for the bad choices crimes that could have put me away for a long time. Guardian angel. Mine is very angry with me. It doesn't pay to make mistakes.

Religion is ridiculous, religion is man made serving the flesh. That's why Jesus, God in the flesh born of a virgin lived a perfect sinless life and died for our sins to do what we couldn't. What does God require for us to be saved and live for eternity ? Believe...Jesus was born of a virgin. God in the flesh and lived a sinless perfect life being crucified dying on a cross for our sins faultless buried raised from the dead after 3 days being seen by many ascending up to heaven seated at God's right hand in Glory. Now as a sinner we must come to repentance and ask Lord Jesus to forgive us of our sins and to save us from a devil's hell...There's a reason you commented.
