Yes Brendon is 18 bro. And i agree that young man knows so much and does great work. Just wished i could afford one of his baits. I dont own any glides or even big swimbaits yet lol they are pricey for the most part and out my budget but.... i found some blanks i can get and paint so thinking thats the route for me.
Also want to add my setup imx 966 25lb cxx and a cheep diawa 300 . Baitsanity glide have been good for the price and savage gear rtf baits are great too.
Gramps you need to put those spros to work. They slay bud. Caught my pb on the spro version back in July. 24in 9.2lb largemouth. Think of that bait as a spook. That's how you want to fish it, around rip rap banks, docks, and lay downs. I promise you'll have success. 👍
That's all I've been throwing the past month and the ignite pray bait from American legacy! New to me this yr also but when they hit the bait it's almost better than a frog blowup
Great introductory swimbait video. I've only been fishing swimbaits/glide baits for two or three years now. It's addictive. that Spro Chad Shad is the bomb, inexpensive, great action at "any price" and it produces trophies. I have caught them on all colors of the Chad, but the Bone is my favorite. Between my grandson and myself, we've caught 15 Largemouth Bass over 22 inches since the first full moon in June this summer on these glide baits. Love the original Chad Shad Rods as well, although I do have the Spro Chad Shad rod also. Great job. Keep it up. P.S. "Try the TW exclusive colaboration with Baitsanity, called the Chimera" awesome glide bait." It freakin' works. Comes with a bait wrap and additional tungsten weights, haven't needed the weights.
Big swim/glide baits are a fun thing to throw. I got into it after I got tired of every other style of fishing. I like all types and styles of fishing and sometimes I just want to go throw big swimmers to see if a monster is out there. I have a few chad shad and they work great. Also have plenty of cheap Chinese glides that work great with a little tuning. It's honestly just another thing to fiddle with and waste money on lol. Once you actually catch a big pig on a glide, you will be hooked forsure.
That's a very nice bait you got set there from Brendan, but just wanted to let you know that the bait he sent isn't a "glide bait". It's a larger "jointed swimbait" with a bill. It remind me of a Triple Trout, which is a popular bait. That said, the actual Chad Shad is indeed a "glide bait". I only mention this just for your awareness since you mentioned you are new to the big bait game - jointed swimbaits and glide baits fish quite differently in how you work them. Good luck on the larger baits!
just asking because i am thinking about getting a rod for bigger baits and i have a rod with a long handle that's a little clumsy fishing from the sitting position.thanks for sharing
Hey Gramps , got to try these myself !! SPRO makes some good baits and has for many years !!! I got a question for you! I noticed that you don't seem to connect with Monsterbass anymore. Have you had an issue with that outfit ?? I have had all kinds of issues with them and finally said , " That's It" !! A Shady Operation to say the least , and way too much BS for me !!! I would love to hear what your experience with that guy has been !!
bought one last month while at BPS while with my brother in law. he was like "uhm dude that is $59.99, kinda risky knowing you and losing $20 jerkbaits" Me,"yeah I will be quite careful with it and the reviews for it are really good. plus they say you have to spend well over a hundred for anything else close to it." first day fishing with it I accidently over-reeled and the metal on the tie-on cracked the liner on inside of my front line guide. I didn't notice. next cast my line gets caught in that crack and line snapped. not a physicists so cannot explain the angle of release and speed of the lure to explain how.... my chad shad is currently located 35 feet up in a pine tree hanging over my boat dock. checking the shore after every storm hoping it will fall eventually. hooks are quite strong from my experience, still hanging on to that tree.
I just have a question and since you posted this two months ago I'm hoping you are still monitoring this post. What is the difference between a swim bait and a glide bait? Is there any difference? Some call them swim baits, some call them glide baits. "Some folks calls it a sling blade, I always called it a Kaiser blade." Perhaps I should ask Billy Bob Thornton.
we did a LIVE with Brown Bait Co and he explains the difference for those like me who are new to the big baits: ua-cam.com/users/livezZSy1J91QcU?feature=share
Swimbaits are soft plastic (some can be bigger) like glide baits like the hangover/mag draft ..then you got hard bit baits the joint in the middle Varys but that’s another big difference ..the Ben M hangover by 6th sense the whale ..many good ones..mag draft by 6th sense all swimbaits ..the chad shad is a glide when u see hard /jointed bigger baits big sign!

I appreciate the shout out buddy! I think I clarified on the stream, that one I made is a wakebait. Thanks man!
I got the threadfin and bone version of these and I love them
Interesting. Bronze backs are extremely addictive. So much fun!
Addicted!
Just got my first glide bait and it’s the KGB Chad Shad Gizzzard Shad color. Have not thrown it yet but anxious to give it a try.
Excellent, keep us posted!

Like you, I am new this season to the big swim baits/glide baits but from the bank. Cant wait to really do this from the Yak. Tight lines Gramps!
Have fun!
Best of luck! Let us know when ya get that PB.

going to be throwing them a lot over the next couple of months!

I can't wait to catch on on these big baits!
Custom baits are also typically super heavy because they're made out of resin. A lot more of the commercial baits have gotten way good. 👍🏽

J.T. I would definitely recommend that on the retrieve you are reeling sparaticly !! Be consistently inconsistent. lol 😂
Good call! I'm gonna have fun playing with them for sure!
Gramps I think that bait is like a crank down wake style bait.
gotcha!

I get the feeling you are right!
That's not a glide bait. It's a multi joint swimmer from brandon
I have been using the spro chad shad it has been getting beat up from the bass.
Use half and quarter reel turns. Rod twitches will do the trick to.
sweet, thanks!

thanks for educating me! This is gonna be an even more exciting challenge than trying to catch them on a frog!
how is that rod with the long handle why u are sitting in the kayak i think it would be a bit awkward to cast and retrieve?
people say the same about regular rods, big bellies and life jackets.
I just make it work ;)

That looks good for hand made
nice setup gramps👊🏽
I’m starting to dip my toe into the swim bait niche, but waiting to purchase a dedicated set up in case I can’t stand it. Lol.
That is a multi jointed wakebait

Nothing in particular with them, but we will be talking about our partnerships going into 2024 over the winter

Oh man, that's crazy!
I'm sorry! I bought the 794 and 795 Dobyns swimbait rods. They are nice!
I would have grabbed one had they been in stock when I was at ALFC.

@@williamtennill6744- Magdraft by Megabass*, also can’t forget multi-jointed hard swimbaits like Bucca Bullshad lol
All these big swimbaits/glidebaits look eerily similar to the handmade musky lures that have been around forever 😏
and hand-made bass lures that have been around awhile as well.
Just spent 200 on a phony shad lol😂
