Gen X here too and 100% agree with what you said….childhood was spent in survival mode and then raised kids now it’s my time to enjoy all the cute things my heart desires and that just so happens to manifest in cute stationary. Ok and some Hello kitty plush LOL. GREAT haul thank you for sharing!
Hey! X gen is the best gen! LOL And yes… you articulated that much better than I did. We basically did spend our childhoods in survival mode. I think I have more toys as an adult than I ever did as a kid - LEGO, Doorables, Momiji… hahaha. But if that’s what makes us happy, why not? 😍 #kidult
Totally agree! We were raised so differently and stationary is such a sweet way to have a little bit of the childhood we may have longed for. I couldn’t resist the Paddington weeks either. 💕
Gen X here as well; one child has left the nest and one leaves for university next year, and I totally relate! Have fun! Be a kid again (for the first time for some of us)! It's our time to explore and figure things out. It's okay for us to spoil ourselves a little. :)
The word "Hon" where it's pronounced like "home" is the Japanese word for "book". Han has other meanings that aren't related to book or planners. HON pronounced like HOME is correct, and HAN pronounced like TOM (where some folks have said it) is incorrect. Think of it this way, we don't say "HA-BA-nee-chee when the "hobo" is spelled with O's, we say HO-BO-nee-chee; so HO-n is exactly the same way we pronounce the "HO" in hobonichi. Now onto your goodies!! You got tons of lovely things this year - the only thing I got is the lovely Spy x Family A5 cover and I might want to get the leather cover "Ness's bike" but that's so darn expensive, even from the Hobonichi website. I may opt for the "Alone is not Lonely" faux leather cover instead. Thanks for sharing! edit: Only is not Lonely! Haha thanks, AuntieAlexandra!
As a Japanese person and speaker, you are pronouncing it correctly :-) Also, lovely video! I really enjoyed your haul. It makes me excited to receive my order too
「本 (ほん、hon) 」means “book.” There is a UA-cam video with the title of this exact sentence and your version is closest to true pronunciation. You are right…..not an ahhhh sound. I’m a Gen X with grown kids too 😂 I find myself doing a lot more reflective journaling, too. Nice haul! Love that combo of Hon with Yumi covers. Don’t know why I didn’t put together over the past years that Hon fits so well inside the covers.
Yay! Another Gen-X’er! I’m so glad that so many of us have found joy and healing in our journals! Isn’t that such a cute combo? I came across it by accident, too… the way everything was sitting inside the shipping box. When I opened it I happened to see those to products on top of each other and my jaw just about dropped! 😍
Thank you for your suggestion! I talked a little bit about the two pink pens on my table in my new video. But I definitely plan on talking more about my fountain pens (and maybe other pens, too) in future videos. Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like to know! ☺️
I am learning Japanese and my son-in-law and his wife speak Japanese. It is HON like in home. This is HON in Hiragana ほん and this is the Kanji 本. The language only has five vowel sounds so it's pretty easy to speak the words. The challenge comes from the Kanji. 🙂Also, thanks for the video. I'm waiting on my Hobonichi order and can't wait. It's out for delivery.
Oh, how fun! I’d love to learn Japanese!! The kanji of HON actually looks like a little house! Did your goodies arrive? Thank you so much for your lovely comment. ☺️
Hi! Thank you so much for watching! 🥰 The one on the left that is laying vertically is a Sailor Fude De Mannen. The shiny one that’s laying horizontally in the top corner is a Pilot Decimo. Most places online that sell fountain pens carry them both. ☺️
Good morning Kimmie! If you decide to sell any of your A5 journal covers let me know please. Also, if you plan to order again from hobonichi I have a couple of things that I would like to get. Maybe we could go half and half and split the shipping cost? I live in TX.
Hi! Thank you so much! This particular cover is a retired design / leather from Chic Sparrow unfortunately. It was a collaboration with Lauren Fairweather & Chic Sparrow a few years ago and it’s probably my favorite cover. You might be able to find one on the gray market, though. ☺️
There are two! One is the Sailor De Mannen and the other is a Pilot Decimo Vanishing Point. I talk about both of them a little bit more in my new video if you’d like to see them up close! 😃
Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by to watch and for leaving a comment! I think the HON does fit into the Hobonichi covers, but I will check to make sure before I give a definitive answer. 😉
@@KimmieCadeiCreativeunfortunately, the Hon doesn’t fit most of the covers, it wasn’t made to. Some of the trifold and zipper folders will fit, but not all of them.
Hi! Thank you so much! Sometimes I forget about our good ol’ friend, Google! It does sound like I’m saying it correctly when I listen to the Google translation. ☺️
Yes, I’m 62 still a fan of hobonichi.. I love Japan products.. we’re all feel like a kid inside🎉love your channel, thanks for sharing🤗💖
Awww… thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🥰 I love learning that so many of us feel like kids inside!

It’s Only is not Lonely. Similar idea but different meaning.
That’s a really pretty cover! And the message inside the pocket is so sweet… Happy Nothing Special Day! I love it!

Hi! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and reassuring me of my pronunciation. I really appreciate it and it makes me feel so much better! 🥰
Such fun haul video!! Loved seeing all of those items and your insights on them.
Thank you so much! Not many people appreciate my insights. 😜
I Love everything you got!!!!
Thank you! ☺️ Did you get any Hobo goodies this year?

I’m still debating about ordering again! LOL I might wait until Oct / Nov. ☺️
Suggestion, wrap the pencil holder around just the front cover.
Oh my goodness! That is such a great suggestion!! Thank you so much! I will give it a try. ☺️
I had no idea there were different sized boxes! It seems obvious now 😂
Isn’t that such a cute box? I love it! I need to find a good use for it where I can keep it out on a shelf or something!
Great haul! Can I ask where you got the brown leather cover for the Weeks?

Hi! Great review! Just wondering of the hon planners fit the covers you bought? I heard they don’t but I really want a hon and still use my covers!

what happens to the extra planners? haha i like the A6 set up btw, great haul!
I sell the extras on Facebook. ☺️
If you don’t keep any of the covers let me no I’m so upset I didn’t get the two
Awww… I’m sorry! Let’s hope they restock them! 🤞🏼🤞🏼
“Hon” means “book” in Japanese. Just type “book” into google translate and you can hear how to pronounce it.
