A long time ago when I was but a small child, my parents bought me my first video game. That game was F-22: Lightning II. It was this game that taught me everything about flying and fighting, although the simulation detail is rudimentary at best. I spent countless hours mastering the F-22 and beating the game. After over twenty years, I decided to visit this game one more time to leave a permanent record of what it was like to play it. To me, this was the coolest game of 1996.
F-22 opened the doors for me to Novalogic. From there, I also discovered the Comanche series, Tachyon, Delta Force, and the other F-22 games. In my collection of old games, Novalogic was the most popular aside from Jane's. However, the company sadly declined and stopped producing games regularly after 2000. Hopefully, with THQ Nordic's acquiring of the franchise, we will see a comeback to Novalogic's great games.

The missile launch effect, viewing angles, and shading were more realistic than the later series (lighting-3, F-16 Multirole Fighter and Mig-29 series.
Yes, they looked better here.
I remember distinctly that the smoke trails from the missiles looked like toothpaste streams in this game

I still have the joystick i used to play this game. Absolutely wore it out when I was 12-13. I wanted to be a fighter pilot so bad!
I used to press end, never landed. How did find tyres opening and landing?
G releases gear and F releases flaps when the aircraft speed is under 250 knots.
What's your favorite soundtrack track from the series?
I like all of them, but the soundtrack to F-22 L3 sounded better because the game came out later.
How'd you manage to make it THAT smooth to play? I remember it being a bit more laggy and "simple"
Finally correctly uploaded 4:3 video.
The transition to HD just made everything pre-HD kind of awkward.
@@iFlyFlightSims I didnt moved to HD. For me, 4:3 is perfect ratio, for balanced mind. I like height too, not only width. I used it many times, when watching lines and graphs, that are verticaly long. Also, in 2D strategy games, both directions are same equal. HD is good only for movies, for that one should have special PC/display. I will not screw my primary computer with that. So thank you for 4:3 video. The most disgusting thing is, how they upload 4:3 videos, with black boxes, that do nothing, only eat up space, and prevent to watch even 4:3 videos on 4:3 monitor full screen!!! This is non-sense, I cannot stand. So thank you. You correct uploaders of 4:3 videos, are so precious nowadays. :)

So this masterpiece of nostalgia was made in 1996 and very good for it time. Cut to today and in reality this multi million dollar aircraft has shot down a hot air balloon. Money well spent? 😂
