Cycle time is usually set by the control valve and the orifices used to regulate the flow. Most hydraulic pumps will support higher flowrates and the issue then is the valve. Which is probably the most expensive part of the splitter and why they cut corners there. The other reason lower end splitters are slow is who the customers are and slow is safer for people who use the splitter maybe once a year. Goes ack to the legal sharks who are circling every one who makes a consumer product. I just bought a Speeco and am looking for a higher flow valve to install.

Thanks for the information @jamesb4789 I think you are spot on. Good luck installing a higher flow valve!

New subscriber to your channel. I have pretty much the same splitter. I have modified mine and I really like mine now. Mine is a 22 ton and you should see what I split with it.

Great review sir ! The cycle time looks a bit long... but it seems to be a good purchase 👍

Thanks for the comment Yves, the cycle time is a bit long, but this is not a commercial product and was not very expensive overall for what you got from it. My new wood splitter that I ordered from Easton should be here around this time next year, and I will be doing many comparisons of that to the other splitters I either own or have access too.
      See you around

I bought one 10 years ago and heat with wood. Thing will split anything but is slow as hell. If you plan on slitting wood for the rest of your life spend the 6 grand and buy a Eastonmade Ultra, 4 sec cycle time. Best commercial splitters on market. I just ordered one. I am sick of standing there all day when an Ultra will do it in 1.5 hrs.

I agree should last the rest of your life. My 12-22 is the best investment.
