This is so cool. She is like a direct connection to Fender's entire history. Her teacher was a Leo Fender hire, and now hopefully she passes on her expertise to the next generation and we'll have that thread continue.
Nothing more powerful than story-telling. Who needs advertising when a story can be told.
This is advertising.
This is advertising dude....
Emotions are triggered by "Sincere" story telling, Josephina is telling us the story and the marketing people put it to good use. I hope they don't corrupt too many honest hard working people. Those pick-ups really do sound "Proper". Brava Josefina
She makes the best sounding pickups.
Josefina, I’m so grateful for your hard work. Thank you for everything you do ans for working hard with your heart in your work!
MARKETING BS .... PUT A NAME THEN JACK UP THE PRICE, THOSE ARE 500 DOLLAR PICKUPS BTW
I just received my Stratocaster from the Mod Shop w/Fat 50's. I thought my unique body type may have been the most well liked feature. Wrong, I love the tone. WOW. All of that tone with a mahogany body, natural finish, and a roasted maple neck. Black pick guard.
She has a real passion for what she does. You can hear it in her work.
Muy bien Doña Josefina, orgullo latino
Jonathan Reyna a webo
I have a Guitarguitar custom shop 59 're-issue with a set of Josephina's pickups in it. The sound is fantastic! The combination of the light body and compound radius neck with those glorious pups makes for a fantastic instrument. Thanks Josephina and Fender for making my dreams come true!
Any chance its the one in fiesta red with gold hardware? Small world. I was just looking at it today.
Hello Josefina, I have a Stratocaster American Standard 2013... Happy client of fat 50s, thanks for making the best!!!
Javier Fernandez do you have the fat 50s hand wound or just the fat 50s she only makes 300 of the hand wound fat 50s
Im too_)))
I have a 2012 fender a. strat stand.how do I know if she made them??
Jean Chunga take a look underneath the pup (at the base) if you find her name written down on it (by hand with a marker) and the date of manufacture, well... I think that pretty much answers your question...
She has a group of work and she checks the end, its not single handle from her
Thank you for your passion work Josefina, you are the best! 💫💫
Just bought these pickups, they’re amazing! Orgullo latino
I love the humanity that Fender has behind their instruments and history.
So much better than the robots over at Gibson 😈😈
Josefina is a star!
She made my pick ups !!? Dope.
2013 Std. USA Strat
Wow, what a great woman.
submissivelover..... Yes she and Abbie are National Treasures....
Yessir
Just bought a 57' Strat with 50's handwound pickups. Sounds great!!
There's a Fender Jaguar and there should be a Fender Josefina...Awsum resume!...
Actually, that'd be a great idea.
I like that ! Perhaps build a line of pinewood strats, jaguars, jazzmasters using her pickups? They already build pinewood teles.
This awesome. Fender showing the people behind the guitars and their origins. Pretty cool that she started the day I was born too lol
Now they're a much sought after, collectors item.
Cool story. But I'm a technical guy. A pickup is literally a few thousand turns of wire around a set of magnets. If you know the secret of great pickups, why not make ALL pickups that way?
And who make that ugly plastic nuts? ☝😣
She seems like a nice lady. It would be nice to meet her one day.
I love Fender. Leo wanted instruments in hands of players. I wish they would remember this, only 300 from the custom shop, yep that won't drive the price up of already high prices. I'm not a hater, bought Custom Shop Nocaster pickups recently....love them in my Tele. I am a engineer, would work for Fender. But sometimes it seems like they cut till it hurts....
BIGGIN mcquinn it’s because she winds them by hand.
I wish I could afford one.
Same man
They're like $200 right?
@@GeriDoc8 - More like $4-500. Kind of ridiculous, actually.
@@corymichael2583 well, they are made in the most taditional manner and sound good, so that's expected
@@salatieljyrustumanan4929 - I get it. But there are so many boutique makers hand winding pups that sound fantastic for half the price that these are collectibles more than anything IMO.
Best Guitars on the Planet Super Amazing Pick Ups .
thanks for all of your hard work and dedication Josefina 🙃
I love this because the pickups are truly hand crafted and made by someone who really loves her jobs. Awesome.
Much respect to Josephina!
What a sweet girl.
Great video, speaks a lot about the company's values towards its people. Well done Fender.
That´s why Fender is in bussines and going strong....and what is a Gibson anyway??? LOL
"There was a real buzz when they came out". He wasn't kidding. That's why I switched to humbuckers.
Muchas gracias por su labor, Josefina! 🙌
Wonderful ❤...Now does this remarkable lady hand wind Jazz Bass pickups?
Latina women are the sound of Rock N Roll !
Now that was a great video and education! thx
Rabea Massad compared these pickups against some of the best boutique pickup builders and imo (and most of the comment section) the Josefinas were the best!
Compare with common Chinese and there is no difference.
She's the embodiment of women power when it comes to guitars,I am buying a set I'm hooked up with their fat sound
Gerard Cortes like she said tho she only makes 300 of each kind of pickup she makes the hand wound ones you can get fat 50s but its hard to get your hands on her hand wound fat 50s
Oh really?........ thanks for the information
Michael Ward do you know how you could try to find them? Just watch reverb for them?
let us know how much you got ripped off
I have a 2012 American Standard Stratocaster, and the Fat 50s are for me the best pickups for a Stratocaster. I don't like the Custom Shop 69' even if they have much fame because it has more treble and is able to break up the amp first.
now that's a woman, passion. When you put something more than technique into a pickup, you get more than a pickup, and it makes more than just sound. thank you for being so giving when you make these pickups. you're the one now.
It's so great to see someone that loves their job and loves doing the best they can do. Taking so much pride in their work is awesome! She seems so happy too! She's a very skilled person with a lot of experience. Something you don't see much of these days. Companies don't keep people that long and they move overseas. It's nice to see it!I was layed off twice because companies moved. I hope she and the others at the factory can stay as long as they want to!☺
Grande tia josefina.. yo feliz con mis fat50💪💪❤❤
I love it when the plan comes together. Passed down secrets of the masters themselves. Josefina Fat 50's. It's even got a Mojo ring to it.
This is the same Fat 50's used on David Gilmour's Black Strat, neck position?! Or The Black Strat use the regular Fat 50's?
Going to order for the shop
Do you really believe this hype?
Looks like not only a screw holding the pickup, but the grey stuff must be double stick tape of some sort.
so it´s good a human is not a machine and there must be a difference in the Wiring and that what a Pickup does -so thank you for the Information and succsses for your Work no doubts you will have that All the best toYou
Awesome. Great story with just enough tone sounds to make people want more. Question. Did she mean 300 are made per year or 300 overall?
Wow great story
i BET SHE HAS HEARD ALOT OF PICKUP LINES IN HER DAY....lmao!
Please Sweet Jesus in Heaven, let me get a Fender Custom Shop guitar in 2021.
Great story 👍🏼
She is awesome
400€ for this PUs???
Really not worth... Much to much!!!
Great to know that my favorite strat pickups are made by a cool person to boot.
The first time I played a set of fat 50s in the 4 position, I said “yup...” and that was that. They’re in all my performing and recording strats now. People can crow about Lindy’s pickups, Bareknuckle, Suhr...I’ve played them all and they’re all great. But the fat 50s are only set that ever made me go “yup...” after the first chord with that chewy, recognizable, easy to dial in sound.
kudos to this wonderful woman
lindo trabalho OK
There is no difference with common Chinese pickups.Sorry.
Loved that one. And it’s cute. Thanks Josefina
it is only manipulation abigal a josefina are not special .stop kidding the young people
I have a framed photo of Josefina and Abigail in my studio.
Managed to mention "vintage-sounding" and "articulate", so they must be good.
Love her wry little smile when she says “only three hundred, no more.”
Kind of a slap to the face of the xenophobics who are dismissive of Fender's MIM products.
Very cool that these women 'behind the scenes' - Josefina, Abigail, plus MJ Juarez at Seymour Duncan are so integral to the sound of music in the world. Very cool that they're getting credit now.
CentaurusRelax314 these are American Fender products made by legal American citizens of Mexican ancestry. Not sure what you’re referring to but the fact that there are legal American citizens of Mexican ancestry isn’t an argument for not controlling our borders or screening who comes into our country.
peacefulruler1 Where TF did you find an argument about ‘border control’ in what I wrote? Christ. My ‘statement’ was about gear snobbery. Yeah, you’re right-you don’t know what I’m referring to. STFU and keep your MAGA ignorance out of it.
@@CentaurusRelax314 This is not MIM. This is Fender Custom Shop USA!!
@@mate0107 I know that. I guess you didn't understand my point.....
@@CentaurusRelax314 I think you don t understund your own point. And there is diff between min and american fender. One of those diff are pickups, too
Sounds good but I mean at her age she hand wire for the world I mean really
Josephine a could you wind me some telecaster pickups your strat pickups turned out very good. Thank you
That's so Awesome!!!I definitely want some fat 50s...Man, Abigail's hand wound I hear are Awesome!!!
Like a beautiful seamstress...what a dream of a blue collar job to work in the Fender factory, even if you don't play guitar.
I want some!
I have owned many generations of American Standard Stratocasters and the first gen Professional Stratocaster. While the pickups are consistently great, and V-Mod pickups particularly sweet sounding, Custom Shop Fat 50's are my favorite Strat pickups. They are articulate, dynamic and have a clear vintage flavor.
We love you josefina :)
hand wound? how much time she spends wounding each pickup?
Raoul Duke The winding itself takes only a couple of minutes.
Beware of ‘boutique’ pickup wonders charging huge amounts for pickups. Chances are there is someone else making the same thing for half the price. Without throwing negativity on this video, it is worth noting that there is a good amount of snake oil involved in selling pickups.
Those pickups sounds great.
What kind of winder is that, please?
Who makes the 60s pickups?
They Should Allow Her to Assemble The Entire Guitar And Autograph It , Perhaps Put Her Custom Design on a Stratocaster . She Is A Beautiful Women. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Trevor Graham Welch Thats like suggesting an electrician build an entire house.
If you like fatties!
JackstandJohnny , not really building an electric guitar can be assembled by just about anyone. Chinese Strats are getting better, about $200-50
Josefina is the "Heart" of Fender! Have you people at Marketing drawn a "Fender" Family tree yet?
You Have done really great iconic work josephina. I am purchasing a set of these. Thank You.
See @ for a current Fender Strat giveaway
Bought a custom strat from GuitarGuitar in the UK a few years ago. It has Josefina's in them. Suggest you try them if you get a chance.

Excellent work.Thank you very much and kind regards from Germany.
Fantastic going to get a set!!!
Just a question for the great lady can she or does she make jazz pickups for bass guitar 5 string if she does could she do a set for me?
The people make fender the best.
wanna ask those who own her the pickups she made, any big difference in the tonality honestly?
What a beautiful soul. I’m putting some of her pickups in my strat!

story behind stuff you make is amazing especially instruments, guitars. I love Fender guitars. When I was a teenager I fell in love in Fender Stratocaster, I continue this for 30 years, now I've discovered Telecasters which is my second love. Thank you all Fender team for making such great instruments, my honour to mr Leo.
Josefina from Fender vs MJ from Seymour Duncan
So Awesome!
