You know one of his backups was Venetta Field right?? check her out.. a legend in her own right! And I might add a genuinely lovely lady.. Ive had singing lessons off of her!!! There is a reason John called her 'The Queen'!!
He is veryyyyy funny. Used to be on one of our comedy show is called Hey hey it’s Saturday and he would see him but he would stay for the whole show because he was just a great comedian as well
Saw John Farnham Feb 2021 at the firefight concert for 70,000 people in Sydney, Queen and Alice Cooper were also on the ticket. John Farnham is a national treasure, Australians love him.
Love this song, john wasnt the original singer it was Glenn shorrock, then John took over at a young age. John was one of only artists who had number 1 albums in 5 decades straights the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. John is 71 years old now and sounds just as good and yeah he’s still alive.1983 the year I was born lol
We love Farnsey. The original LRB singer was Glenn Shorrick. John was only with them for a very short time when his solo career took off. He is a legend here in Australia and is still rocking out at 70 years old.
I was there the night before. It was fantastic. I was sitting front row right in front of him! He was staring at me all night and it wasn’t till years later I saw a photo of his wife and she looked a lot like me😆
So glad you reacted to this one, not many people know it, I too just discovered it recently. Love the groovey jazzy sound and harmonies, like you said it shows his versatility!!!
HI'My mum was Sydney Conservatorium of Music trained pre ww2....She really appreciated and enjoyed John Farnham...He,, and whomever is playing with him is/are great live. The joy emanates..
Our John is 73 years young now & can still belt out a song 🎵 we love John so very much here in Australia 🇦🇺. Thankyou for your awesome reaction to our Aussie legend. Love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️
I saw this a couple of weeks ago and have been stuck on it - best version of the song hands down! I keep noticing new things each time I hear it. I’ve never heard of this guy John b/c this was before my time, wonder what happened to him. Incredible voice!
More more more!. Farnsy is an all-round "Dead set" top Aussie larrikin bloke with Golden tonsils who has always had the natural gift of LEVITY!. He is a humble fella who's joy and passion for singing, people, and life is infectious!. I highly recommend reacting to his cover of "Help" by the Beatles in a live concert in Melbourne backed by The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I hope other commentators can direct you to the right one where he is standing up front rather than the one where he is at the piano. His performance and rapport with the audience is really something to behold!. Seriously, this guy lights up any room he enters. Good one mate!. Zebedee from Oz. 👍
John is so great, I think he’s the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre and those harmonies, LRB always had great harmonies.
Yep 71 and still belting out the songs and we love him!!! So many great songs over the years so many full stadiums all over Australia! So glad America and the world are seeing him now. Original lead singer was Glen Shorrock. Love from Australia🇦🇺🤟🏽😎Tina Neilsen
You must listen to John Farnham's version of "Help". It is exceptional. We Aussies love John Farnham for his voice, his exceptional relationship with his audiences and his fellow musicians and his wonderful character.
Love love love our beautiful John Farnham. Best singer Australia ever produced (even though he was born in England.). First concert I ever went to 💕💕💕💕💕💕
John is very unique and so talented and special. He still has that voice so you can still see him if our Country ever opens again. Pretty sure there are kids being born that have never seen a plane fly over. There were 10 lead singers of the Little River Band but only Glenn and John are remembered the most. John is better on his own and live. He is kind and funny, he always looks so happy when the crowd sing his songs first when the music starts and he never interrupts them. He is an icon and no one gets to react to him unless they love him. He surrounds himself with the very best musicians and he gives them the respect they deserve. They don’t want to be anywhere else. My daughter sang one of John’s songs in a contest when she was 14. The judges and I didn’t know it was one of his songs until she told us on stage. She has her own music style but she loves every style and era. I would never have expected her to sing one of his songs. One judge wrote on her sheet. I never liked John Farnham until I heard this song. Now I am in love and I will be listening to so much more of his music. She came first and won $650.00 for one song. She told us she didn’t need any pocket money for a year at least. She won her semi final with Chain Of Fools and more money. The following weekend she won another contest and a lot of money for a kid. It was strange because she always refused to sing or act for money until then and she never has again after then. I later found out she took 9 kids she had stopped from killing themselves, 2 razor cutters, 1 Anorexic and 1 Schizophrenic out to dinner and a movie every month for 5 years. She just knew by walking past them when they were in trouble so she kept them safe. The money was for them. I wish we could claim genetics for this beautiful child but she was adopted and always special. So John helped her help them along with Aretha Franklin. I think John would have loved to see her sing it because he is so normal. He is ours but we share.
I worked backstage at concerts in Sydney in the late 80’s and early 90’s, several that John performed at. He treated all the backstage staff like royalty and they loved him for it
Thanks for your reaction watching these make me appreciate these singer even more .John Farnham took the place of the original lead singer (glenn shorrock) who moved on, John caused a storm with the fans because John was the Aussie king of pop for 10 years and not considered a jazz/rock singer. His legacy proves them all wrong.John first big hit was a very corny song called Sade the cleaning lady at 17 ish and still an apprentice plumber back in 1967 I think. Go check that out and see where that leads him.
You’re the voice is like an Australian anthem and John is an awesome treasured icon we love him . This time with the little river band was for their sake he is a solo artist. They wrote him some great songs . You have to watch you’re the voice on a live concert stage
Effortless. He's just having fun. He really can sing any genre! The original singer was Glenn Shorrock. He did a great original version, but John went and took it to another level. Glenn's another well known Aussie singer that's still around today.
Yes we love him. Has anyone mentioned he had major surgery for mouth cancer in 2022? I don’t care if he never sings again - he had over 50 years of it - I just want him to be healthy and happy.
I agree completely. Key changes are vitally important. Each key tells a slightly different story, has its own feel and overall mood. It's been years since being musically involved. I played piano & guitar growing up. From 6th grade through high school I played 1st part trumpets. My ears could be going bad but it seems the first half of the song is played in a minor (flat). I was 3 in 1980. Best music ever right here.

@@donnam5891 Kind of curious it is defined like that. Can of course be someone like that. But where i am a Larrikin usually just is someone that is playful. Maybe pulls pranks. I personally wouldn't put John in that one. Personally. John always strikes me as someone that just wanders onto a stage and is just as surprised as anyone else he is up there. Then just has lots of Professional fun.
You’re the first reviewer that I’ve come across that’s covered ‘The Little River Band’. Well done - here’s hoping you’ll be doing a lot more of this incredible band … the best band to come out of Australia in my opinion. They were big in the States and in their own homeland, but sadly didn’t really takeoff in the UK or mainland Europe for that matter. John Farnham was absolutely terrific of course, but my favourite singer for this band was their very first one when the band originally started … can’t remember his name now. One thing that I DO remember was back in the days of video tape recorders seeing a full concert of the band playing outside Sydney Opera House. I’m wondering if it was ever moved onto DVD, because I haven’t seen or heard of that particular concert since.
Glenn Shorrock’s name is mentioned here as the original singer, but wasn’t there one before him who was the very original singer, but only stayed with the band for a very short time before Glenn took over?
Live on stage? I have never heard any singer like John Farnham. He just beats any other singer without effort. John is the ultimate entertainer. We, in the land of Oz, love him dearly. Every one on stage with him are artist in their own right. Even the drummer sings.
Have a listen to another Aussie legend, Vince Jones . Vince plays trumpet and sings . Try his version of I put a spell on you or his treatment of any of the standards. Aussie jazz is so underrated around the planet.
Love Vince Jones, such a great singer and nice guy. Saw him at The Continental and he signed a cd for me with the words "Keep the Faith"! Still have and play that cd!

John Farnham makes Michael Buble sound ordinary. And Michael Buble is great ! Farnham could be the greatest jazz crooner of all time if he decides to go that way. Not too late as he's still young for his age.
You better believe it was awesome in the audience, I was there 17 times, and will make it 18 if Farnsy ever comes to Perth again. He is the only artist I've ever seen, who sounds MUCH better live - when they play with his voice on CDS it loses the X factor that he has live. Glenn Shorrock was the original lead singer for Little River Band
You said that you like listening to John Farnham.Go and listen to Fully Farnham. It is one of his live performances. The only thing is it goes for over 2 hours. It shows the range of songs and his reactions with the crowd
The dude you would have heard sing this on the radio was the original singer in The Little River Band, Glenn Shorrock. Glenn has an amazing voice too but when he left the band, the band members asked John Farnham to join them. Farnham tried to break into the US market as a solo artist but, for some reason, that didn't work so he took up the offer to join this band. After years of trying he came to the conclusion that that didn't work either - it seems that LRB's time had passed.
John joined LRB as lead singer after Glen Shorrack left but it was really then just The John Farnham Band lol...haha... he sure is still alive and singing...
No no little river band were a band that fell apart then John came on and revived little river band but find glen shorick and the little river band and yes John is still alive. He kept trying to retire and John would announce his final concerts the joke was it probably took him ten hrs to retire . Love that you’re loving aussies xoxo love from Sydney Australia October 2021 xox
LRB sold over 30 million records when there was only about 20 million ppl living in Aussies lol but they were a great hit in the US . When the lead singer left they asked John to fill in. He didn’t want to sign any contract ….No Glen Shorook was the lead singer all those years u heard it.
Thank you for asking. That’s really tough for me to answer. For starters, I am not an expert on John’s vocal abilities. But what I can say is that I love the timbre, overtones, color, and overall texture of his voice. I think it’s totally unique. But furthermore, the man behind the voice seems to me to be an amazing guy, so it’s not a surprise that his voice is so beautiful.

This man never stops surprising you. He is definetly the voice. He is the very defenition of music . Everything he does is amazing. It must feel incredable to have a voice like that. I used to be a profesinal singer my self. But im no where close to his talent. And he still delivers amazing vocals at the age 72. Much better than singers 30 years younger than him. That man is uniqe. He should have been more notised world wide.
Love this performance! Such a voice! 🔥🔥❤️ Keep up the great reactions 😌
I’ve seen our John in concert at least half a dozen times over a 30 year time span and he’s always totally wowed the audience. I just love him. 🇦🇺💖
His inflections, runs, pitch, and vocal control are absolutely stunning. NO Autotune!

But midway, the key change goes natural, the suspense is mo longer present. One could assume she said yes and all is happy, happy, joy, jou. I.

He kept trying to retire and John would announce his final concerts the joke was it probably took him ten hrs to retire . Love that you’re loving aussies xoxo love from Sydney Australia October 2021 xox
👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🇦🇺🐨
Seriously you NEED to listen to Angels. So beautiful.
Yeah, happy to second that but make sure it's a live version!
Yes definitely
I had to think twice there....did you mean Angels by John, or another great Aussie bandThe Angels? either or both would suit
You gotta hear the original lead singer Glenn Shorrock do this , he is also great.
LRB sold over 30 million records when there was only about 20 million ppl living in Aussies lol but they were a great hit in the US . When the lead singer left they asked John to fill in. He didn’t want to sign any contract ….No Glen Shorook was the lead singer all those years u heard it.
I was never as keen on John in Little River Band as I think the songs suited Glenn Shorrock, the original singer, more.
john lennon said it was his fav song
Another concert you should be able to get with John Farnham and others. It is titled fire fight Australia concert john farnham
G'day Chris, enjoy watching your reactions to John. Out of interest , Where would you rank him amongst other great male vocalists?
Cheers
Thank you for asking. That’s really tough for me to answer. For starters, I am not an expert on John’s vocal abilities. But what I can say is that I love the timbre, overtones, color, and overall texture of his voice. I think it’s totally unique. But furthermore, the man behind the voice seems to me to be an amazing guy, so it’s not a surprise that his voice is so beautiful.
@@mattcriscuolo1541lol sorry Matt, I just realised I called you Chris, my apologies mate. Thanks for the reply. He's definitely one of a kind. Keep up the great work. If u were an Aussie we'd called you Criso :) Cheers from Australia
John was an apprentice plumber before he made it on the music scene.
👍😊
You should listen to he first song hit , Saddy the cleaning lady
