  • Even if you put the perfect setup on a kart, you can still lose a race because of mistakes. There are so many reasons we make mistakes when we drive it would be impossible to cover every single one. The only thing I can do is help you prevent them before you make another mistake. In this video, you'll learn 5 ways to become a more consistent, less mistake prone driver.

    This is 2 years old, but I'll give it a shot. Wouldn't mind a video on Wreck avoidance...Scenario, a wreck ahead causing me to sympathy spin because I'm too quick/hard on the brakes to avoid. I think this is an eyes situation, there are times when I have time to avoid, but I tend to fixate on the chaos. Any trips or tricks to get past that would be greatly appreciated.

    Another great vid Ryan :) We all do make mistakes, how we recover from those is important. I'm fairly happy with my driving atm, very in the zone and at ease in the kart. At my last endurance event there was a kart/engine on the practice day there for testing and feedback from any entered driver in the event. No changes were mad to the kart all day, just plenty of people testing it out. The fastest driver of the day, a current young full time professional racer (did the Bathurst 1000 last year)was the fastest of the day, I was happy to be only 1.2 seconds a lap off his times at over 20 years older and 20+ kilos (44lbs) heavier then him. My main challenge this year is driver coaching my enduro team mates (3 of us sharing 1 kart), the last 2 rounds I've been 1.5 to 2+ seconds a lap faster then them through the stints. I'm working on them, trying to keep them positive whilst developing, but they have there mindsets on racing and how it's done, and less likely to try to adapt to the changes to suit the kart. If I tweek the kart to make them happy it's actually slower for all of us, they are lacking the confidence that the rear wont slide out of them.

    This video came out at the perfect time for me because last weekend I was on pole for the first time, I wasn't used to to being out front so I was constantly checking behind which was distracting me from taking my line properly. Then I made a mistake and got passed and was so worried about that mistake that I made another and lost 2 more positions. I ended up 4th in a race I probably would have finished at least 2nd if not 3rd if I made no mistakes ( guy in 1st is mega quick, he just had a bad qualifying )

    My main issue is I get into my own head and start to over drive
    its really just me needing to stay calm in the situation and as you say focus over the whole race distance.
    Thanks

      Unfortunately, that’s what I’ve been told. I came runner up in that race to someone who has 17 years of karting experience and 20 championships. I only have 3 lol. I don’t have the money to get out of 4 cycle or to compete for a full season between college and racing so I guess I need to find more sponsors lol. Thanks for the advice and I look forward to your next video!!!

    Recently I found myself racing against a more experienced driver in the area of starts. I was starting p2 and he was controlling the field up to the line. On the 2 starts that we had I always ended up drowning the engine and getting a slow start. Bare in mind I was pinching my fuel line. Any advice?

      Don’t pinch the line. I never do that because it doesn’t help. Control the throttle with the brake on the start. Brake to slow yourself down but never get off the throttle.

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  2 роки тому

      Just try and build up to speed. Always try to find the limit. The kart works when its on the limit. If you drive under the limit the mechanical grip of the kart won't work and you'll feel like you don't have that much grip.

    hi ryan, i always have issues when going into hairpins, when i go into the corner the rear of the go kart starts bouncing and when i get on the throttle i have no traction and i lose a lot of time to other drivers, i don’t understand how i always make this mistake, what do you think it could be? thanks and great video

    • @NorbergNation
      @NorbergNation  2 роки тому +1

      It might be caused by locking up too much on the brakes. Its probably kicking the rear out too much and making the kart unstable.

    • @tobiashauge1224
      @tobiashauge1224 2 роки тому +1

      If the gokart is bouncing, it means that there are too much grib. What I'd do I widen the rear a little to some that grib away, and will reduce the bouncing.

      It’s most likely because you are not setting up the other driver. Most of the problems are because you are too close the other driver and not timing a run. You need to make sure your setting yourself up for a pass
