This was another ⭐️ episode. John Mascola was one of those recent best of TWIV episodes. I know I say every show is the best but to hear his story, I sorta feel he coulda been on for longer because you only touched the surface of most of the topics mentioned. As always, much love from Sweden.
I enjoy each of you for different reasons. Brianne I enjoy your insights and how you are always thinking and questioning. You love when you can pick someone’s brain I’ve noticed. You love learning something new.
I think our family ran into a bad batch of PCR. My husband started with symptoms on Sunday and tested positive at home twice. The next day, I had a sore throat. I tested positive at home that night. My son's nose was starting to run a little too. Tuesday morning, I took myself and the kids for PCRs. My husband went on his own in the afternoon. On Friday (husband still symptomatic, I'm still symptomatic, son more symptomatic, and daughter had started) we got our PCRs back. Husband was positive, but the 3 of us that tested in the morning came back negative. I tested myself and the kids again at home and we were all positive. Took the kids to get PCRs again on Saturday and me on Monday. All three now positive. I'd assume that we tested too early the first time except for the fact that I tested positive at home the day before the PCR. 🤷♀️
another point on inherently trusting TWiV guests when encountered on other sources, any professional not too busy to communicate with the public and wise enough to accept an invite from the TWIV team deserves my attention, not to mention I am sure Vincent is rather particular with his guest selection which immediately gives their words more credibility in my eyes
I'm watching this episode waiting to lose power with the January 29th snowstorm. We're in the potential jackpot snowfall amount in Plymouth County, MA. Enjoying the behind the scenes information of the covid 19 vaccines and operation warp speed.
This was really interesting! A couple of requests 1) as a sailor I would appreciate if you would add the wind speed and direction to your weather reports 2) as a diabetic overweight older guy I am trying to lose weight to reduce my comorbidities should I catch Covid, I would therefore appreciate if you would stop mentioning food, especially Italian food.
I have an in-law now 20 months into severe long-COVID that came on after a severe two-week illness (not hospitalized). But without a positive clinical test they do not qualify for one of the nearby long-COVID clinics...nobody could get tested on Kansas City at that time (March/April 2020). It feels like long-haulers need to ban together, but that it incredibly difficult while living with the ongoing post-acute sequele issues. These people are getting screwed out of disability and proper care and therapy.
@@ScotHarkins the struggle is horrible. My adult daughter in the same situation. So disabled she can’t work and activities of daily living are challenging.
Yes 'The Atlantic' Magazine. Went to their website to check out the latest news and came across the article "The Case Against Masks at School -- Districts should rethink imposing on millions of children an intervention that provides little discernible benefit". I did not read further as in my book masks are effective not only against all variants of Covid-19, but also just about every other respiratory disease. So, be aware that publications recommended on TWIV (around 1:35:08) also can contain articles written by the opposition.
Thank you all of TWIV for yet another most interesting and informative podcast…I’ve never been disappointed on the contrary…we learn and get entertained…your podcasts have almost become addictive…Weather here in Gaspesie…rigorous winter….
Unfortunately those under 65 years old, don't remember what diseases can do. They grew up in the age of vaccinations, and take the protection for granted. So, they fear side affects more than disease. With monitoring, how about fill out our knowledge of human immunity, microbiology, virology, and ecological systems on the excuse of readying for space colonies/stations.
I agree we need to stop looking at case numbers. My wife, kids, kids and myself (all vaxxed) all had covid recently. It was a cold circa 2019, take some dayquill and you're fine. If it weren't for the positive rapid tests and the current times, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Cases like we had are irrelevant, and that is so very many people right now. Unless the concern is a run on dayquill? 😆
A lot of the stuff that is reported about numbers of cases is reported just to scare people into getting a vaccine, staying home, wearing a mask and social distancing. Two year after all this started that does not seem to have worked.
Can you explain why I get severe allergic reaction( anaphalysis) for the Pheifer vaccination? Since i was vacinated I have problem with liver and skin and swollen my arm etc
@@TonyFisherPuzzles STATEMENT - This is not at all what I meant. I LOVE HER SMILE which is CLEARLY not fake but intrinsic to her open and kind and generous nature! Sheesh!
I'm really trying to find _anything_ about safety in a crowded canoe (dragon boat) with 20 paddlers out for 1-2 hours getting a great workout. We require paddlers be fully vaxxed + boosted, but unmasked only inches away from a bench mate and a couple of feet from people ahead and behind. No cases yet in several months, but holy cow with Omicron we paused for the peak and will resume in February.
In that setting you are VERY well ventilated, but of course it's an infection risk. Fully vaxed you are at low risk of serious disease. Do you want to avoid your sport forever to prevent getting infected? I doubt it. Just get on with your life; I say this with all good wishes.
I'm so tickled to hear someone mention TWiT (Leo Laporte) on TWiV. Yes, TWiT might have ventured into fantasy. Maybe someday...in the future...the far future.
Thanks Vincent and TWiV team for another episode!
