    Jerome, why do you not have a club between driver and 5 iron yet, one year into your journey? Makes no sense to me to not have a wood or a hybrid..
    Also- I’d start supplementing your journey with some tougher courses. I can tell you, if you break 80 on this course you usually play at, you can add 5-10 strokes easily on a championship course. Would love to see you take those on and start calculating your actual handicap.
    Anyway, love the series and keep up the grind bro!

    Your already a single digit ball striker however you are like a 20handicap putter. You either need to lean heavily on girs and lag putting. But your putting brings back so many memories of where my putting used to be. Getting better at putting is like a spiritual adventure!😅

    Jerome, That was a great attitude shift much calmer presence. Your thoughts seemed to be focused on the next shot. I didn't see any pre-shot practice , it could be edited out, but if not 2 or 3 practice swings will help your body adjust what your mind wants to accomplish .... GREAT JOB !

That would make some good cuts showing your practicing. I have been liking swinging at 80% lately instead of swinging out of the shoes too. We're all on the journey, aren't we. Thanks again for all of the awesome content!

    Made a more detailed post but my pc stalled. Basically I said you've improved greatly, but practice putting at home should help. Plenty of devices to buy cheap to just line up putt and return ball to you to putt again and again to get a feel. Short gam e you mentioned is next with a coach, so hopefully that will help soon enough. For a year you are doing great

    Sorry Jerome, last thing I want to post is anything negative because I enjoy your content. But golf is also about accountability too. Hole 8 (362 par 4) you had a bogey and not a par. Start around 12:11, you'll see that it takes you three shots to get on the green and then you two putted. Sorry dude.. :D
    Keep at it though, you'll be breaking more than 90/80 with that work ethic.

    It's great you shot 90 but at this stage it's not about the score. When I started chasing scratch 15 years ago (!) I shot 75 within my first two years (on a legit course), but I did it with a shite swing I had mastered, a big OTT, slice. You, on the other hand, have a beautiful powerful swing, so when you start learning to score, your potential will be in the 60's not 70s (like mine). I have had to completely start from scratch. Keep it up and I think you can do it within 5 total years. Bravo!

    • @JeromeRufin
      @JeromeRufin  6 місяців тому +1

      Yup glad u see it in a similar lens. My coaches and I don’t really care about the score the first year we just want to build the best foundation. This means I’ll actually score worse than most people at this stage even with all my coaching but we only look at the long term. And yeah 5 years has been the timeline I gave myself since the very beginning

      @@JeromeRufin Golf is such an all encompassing sport with loads of different shots and techniques required and it's a very hard game to start from scratch. Staying motivated to keep going when it's not going well is one of the hardest things as a novice golfer. As a software engineer, you obviously understand the need to build something from the ground up, ensure it's properly tested and won't fall down in time. The fact that you have a plan and are sticking to it with a super positive attitude speaks volumes for you and will ensure that you ultimately succeed. There will be a time when score becomes much more important but for now, building strong foundations with a really efficient swing will make everything easier in the long term. Throw in a bit of short game and putting for a bit of variety in your practice and so that you can enjoy the game more on the course but these are areas that you can easily touch up in the future to shave shots off your scores. Not much point in having a dynamite short game right now if it's going to take 3 or 4 shots to get to the green! Great idea for a channel. I'm enjoying your videos from over here in Scotland and looking forward to following your journey 👍

    looks good! ... In the last 2 videos you have hit more and more fairways giving yourself more opportunities to score. When you take the driver out of your hand it makes you think ahead. and it makes you think about course management. Staying out of trouble is the way to get that score down. Not only do you play a cleaner game then you can really see where you are leaking strokes. The other thing I noticed, your demeanor from the front 9 to the back 9, totally different! Front 9 excited emotions borderline "Loss cannon" back 9 you were focused on the shot "calmness". Stop worry about what the score could be and just play the game it will come.. You mentioned there's 2 par 3s that give you trouble? think thru the hole. What is your miss, what is the play to keep you out of trouble, if I aim here can I get up and down if I miss? its not always about aiming at the pin some holes you just want to get out of there with a par and move on. once again Short game short game short game!

Probably be your lowest..and you could super aggressive (80-90% shots maybe a couple 100% drives) and just test your full potential? Who knows could be fun or a disaster but either way it would be fun to watch. This is what I like to do to believe in myself. You may be surprised how many hero shots you are capable of..

Slow down and follow your routine. It will seem forced and will be forced, until one day it won’t. The routine is designed to make you focus. Find your flow. I’m enjoying your journey. Sorry, I went back and checked. The putting lesson just happened. Same advice though. Slow down. Develop a rock solid pre-shot routine and the course feel will follow. 🙏🏌️😎
