I want to thank you for this. I watch this each spring before attaching my plow to my 8n. Thanks again.

This is adjustment for subsequent plowing. For the first trip around the field, all wheels will be on flat ground and plow should be adjusted to run flat side to side and front to rear. Once wheels are in furrow-is what hes talking about here. Also, worn coulters should be adjusted nearly to plow points to cut trash and roots, and to relieve stress on plow. Adjustment bar should be on the right, because thats the side thats adjusted between first and subsequent plow trips.

If you don't have the plow aligned as indicated in the Ford manual . . . it might work, but for all the wrong reasons. The draft control is designed to lift the plow when it starts to load down, and it is the main mechanism that allows the set depth to be maintained. The settings above allow for the plow to cut into the soil to the depth where the landslide is parallel to the ground.above. Misalignment overworks the draft control and hydraulic pump and wastes power fighting the plow.

Their for anti-sway,Henry Ford and Harry Furgason went to court over the 3 point hitch design,Guess who won.It wasnt a great design, they make stabilizers for them, which was an aftermarket design, but works well.

Is your lift arm adjust on the left-side bar typical? I just got a 1939 9n this past week, and the lift adjust is on the right side on mine (granted I suspect they can be interchanged). Also my tractor has the 'heavy duty' assist bars that run parallel to the lift bars; do you suggest removing them for plowing (granted it looks like they would not fit on the pins of the Dearborn anyway - I am getting a two-bottom plow tomorrow and will need to see then). Thanks!

Thank you so much! I've just gotten my hands on a Dearborn 2x14 and I'm struggling getting it set to turn the ground over correctly. Now I have a plan of attach to set it. Is there any reason an 8n wouldn't be able to pull 2 14s?

That is a lot of work just adjusting the tractor, but I am surprised that that tractor could pull with two plows on it.
