I am a US citizen living in Chicago and born in Puerto Rico. I believe the western countries should realize that this is first and foremost about democracy. And that Putin himself says he is bitter about how the West has treated Russia. And if any country or their citizens thinks being on Russia's side is going to make them immune to his wrath, they should think again. As for United States, today on the news Kevin McCarthy, the head of the House of Representatives, said that if Republicans come into power, it will not be so easy for Ukraine to receive so much support. He said that but it remains to be seen if the majority of Republicans will go along with what he says. But we must also take in consideration that what McCarthy says is not always what he will do.
The Russians are never worried by a loss of civilian lives, all this talk about evacuating them to safety is pure trash, who knows what the real reasons are. If we look at the battle for the Kherson region we need to understand that it basically a siege with a very limited resupply for Russian troops. It's clear that the civilians will be using up resources, there are far more civilians in the region than Russians, so the removal of them from the area will vastly reduce supply problems of food for the troops. I still think that the Ukrainians will not want to enter a street to street battle within Kherson city but wear down the besieged invaders over time. The Russians will not easily give up the bridgehead on the north bank around Berislav, they need a buffer zone to protect Nova Kakhovka as the canal with water for Crimea has been a priority for them since the beginning and possibly a major factor for the invasion.
Putin is laying a trap. Once Kherson's civilian population has been "evacuated", Russian troops will pull out shortly thereafter and Putin will drop tactical nukes on Kherson and the Ukrainian troops who've retaken the city. I sincerely hope Ukraine's military leaders are aware of this possibility.
An expat writing from Ecuador. Listened to today's report, a daily input which I greatly enjoy. While interviewing Kherson residents re evacuation to Crimea, your interviewer didn't question them as to their political leanings. Are those interviewed Russian supporters which leave voluntarily or are they forced to leave?
So the pro-Kiev probably evacuated before, so what's left is the pro-Russian population This is how Ukrainians splained away the result of the referendum.
American listener here. The Republicans are forecast to win the House and the Senate is a toss up. McCarthy will likely be the Speaker of the House. Economic issues like cost of living increases gas prices and concerns over an economic recession dominates voters issues.
Republican congressman, Michael McCaul--who will chair the House Foreign Affairs Committee if Republicans gain control--added clarity to McCarthy's Ukraine remarks. He said, “I think he’s just saying we’re not going to write a blank check without oversight and accountability, which my committee will be providing.” My assessment is that there will be more Congressional support for Ukraine if Republicans take control, but it will take more negotiations between Congress and the White House.

I'm couple of minutes in.. A really horrible thought just hit me. What if they're trying to clear all the civilians assuming those who are willing to evacuate are the good ones and then wait for ukranian armed forces to enter the city and then drops a nuke... a big one.
Yeah I've been thinking the same thing. Would be a small tactical one though. It's very possible, and now that Russia see the annexed areas as part of their home territory, it would only be following through on a threat they have already made to deploy nukes to protect Russian soil. Messy.
No the Russians are going to flood it and use chemical weapons. I have seen two interviews on Russian state media where they accuse Ukraine of planning to flood and use chemicals - if this is not a signal of their intent identifies know what t is

17:20 It is actually very smart and so dangerously absurd, so I am not sure if I can laught about it. KGB Agent forming information security agency, my god....
I wouldn't put too much money on Ukraine finishing the Kherson bridgehead soon. The best Russian airborne and marine troops are present and they have fought well on the defensive so far. As the front shrinks, the overextended Russian front will become denser with troops. Russia doesn't need to have artillery within the bridgehead because it has the range to cover a shrinking bridgehead from across the river. This will ease logistics problems. The evacuation of all the civilians will reduce the need to supply food by 80%, again easing logistics. The smaller bridgehead will require fewer vehicles to supply the troops with ammunition for lighter weapons and so less fuel will have to be brought in. Pontoon bridges and ferries may be sufficient to extend resistance. Urban fighting is extremely demanding. Unless Russian morale collapses completely, which among elite troops seems unlikely, this does not seem likely to end soon.
Urkaine is going to kill all of those airborne and marine troops, all of them. The himars will slaughter them first and whoever is left alive will either surrender or die. Density will just make it easier, not harder. Since when did russia care about feeding civilians- they dont even feed their own soldiers.
Echo your thoughts but they'll be Ukrainian Partisans and AFU Special Foorces. NATO/EU and Allies along with the AFU have their strategy and all Orc movements are monitored and interception calls and intelligence They'll have a plan for that. Kerch Bridge attack and the two Dniper River Bridge Crossings are all part of their plans. Orcs are being played. Listen to Zelenskyy broadcasts, there's a reason he's very buoyant about this counter attack and negotiations with Putin.
@@johnwebster5005 I doubt it is either the last or a desperate attempt. However, I do worry that the Ukrainians will become fixated on a head on assault on Kherson and the Russians will take advantage of the time gained to bring in mobilized troops to bolster their whole front.
If they planning to leave that area why would they take the people I don’t understand this is like a movie unfortunate for Ukraine people is not but this is don’t make any sense to me what’s the whole point were they going to do it with those people 😢💔☮️🙏

Great reporting as usual. Not exactly unbiased but what is these days, or any time in history for that matter lol. Its never war crimes when NATO bomb civilian infrastructure or even targeting weddings ffs. That being said, keep up the good work!
If nato were in they would be giving long range missiles to Ukraine that would easily hit Moscow. NATO are ensuring ukraine continue playing a defensive role and not escalating
Sadly mistakes are made - sometimes through misinformation. There are institutions within NATO countries and the free Press that holds NATO armed services to account. Accountancy is not available in Russia - the Duma is a rubber stamp, no independent Press, no independent Judiciary. Russia is a Mafia State. There is no comparison between NATO actions and the armed forces of the Russian State
With what? Their army started badly trained, badly equipped, and badly led, in a badly considered operation. They started with a third of the command strength the West considers necessary for operations. They started with poor levels of inter-service cooperation, and they're now starting to run out of the munitions necessary to compensate for their failings as a military force. I agree Russia is still dangerous, but Putin is kidding himself if he thinks he can have troops on the ground in all his neighbouring capitals in 48 hours, as he claimed before February.
The production values on Ukraine the Latest have never been great. Also failing to broadcast at weekends and on bank holidays... in a fast-moving war, it’s ludicrous.

Ukraine is throwing a last desperate attempt - Russia will backpeddle and inflict damage to bleed Ukrainian forces.
Echo your thoughts but they'll be Ukrainian Partisans and AFU Special Foorces.
NATO/EU and Allies along with the AFU have their strategy and all Orc movements are monitored and interception calls and intelligence
They'll have a plan for that.
Finally somebody with their head screwed on properly
No talks = no mercy
Bomb the Ukraine to surrender or to the table. That's it

If they planning to leave that area why would they take the people I don’t understand this is like a movie unfortunate for Ukraine people is not but this is don’t make any sense to me what’s the whole point were they going to do it with those people 😢💔☮️🙏

Isn’t it so very telling of the neutral and completely unbiased telling of the war.
Incan remember that the Guardian always were on the side of the people being occupied by other, more powerful nations! Oh….wait

From this American, in terms of voting, I used to vote the issues. Since the Republican party has become THE issue, I will still be voting on the issues, for as long as I continue to vote.

Watch the Duran. Fact based information.

Yep, only propaganda and narrative here.
More propaganda rather than listen to opinions why don't we interview the people who are affected by it
Europe countries could send more weapons and win the war quickly army in these countries the generals need to think it's all go it really is

Russia is going to smash the Ukrainian offensive in Kherson .
If the Brits hadn't left the EU, they'd have a lot more leverage over Germany. Just sayin'...
Watching the static screen is boring beyond belief!
Nice for a podcast. But could they have cameras on the people like the other news channels (DW, CNN, Times Radio, etc. )? Agreed that would be nice. Maybe they aren’t set up for that…
Great reporting as usual. Not exactly unbiased but what is these days, or any time in history for that matter lol. Its never war crimes when NATO bomb civilian infrastructure or even targeting weddings ffs. That being said, keep up the good work!
NATO arent in this war though, so...

Absolutely. The Russians are using their heads - Ukraine isn't.
Russia will win this.
Lol
Yes, that's why they've been evacuating the Quislings.
based upon their spectacular success in this war?
What are they ‘winning’….
Good reporting but honestly if we could remove the mouth noises, the swallowing sounds, of the first guest Farity (sp?) Francis, that'd be great.
The production values on Ukraine the Latest have never been great. Also failing to broadcast at weekends and on bank holidays... in a fast-moving war, it’s ludicrous.
Who is begging for money & arms?
