I was wondering the same thing. I think it just how the mechanism works. The intake freezes every time a ring is loaded into the high stakes mech. The hook moves a ring into the slot, and the lift moves up over the hook of the intake which isn’t moving. I think it could be adapted to possibly carry two, as the lift could move up slightly aligning another slot. 18522R must have designed for one as it’s fast to load and already pretty efficient. Maybe they tested a two ring design and it didn’t work. I do see the benefit of having two rings, especially for controlling top rings.
While that is true, the complexity it would add to the robot just isn't worth it. Do the math. If you're red and the wall stake has a blue top ring, and you put one red ring on, that's a 5 point difference in points. However, if you put 2 rings on, that's a 6 point difference in points. So while that second ring of your color is good, the first ring on the wall stakes (aka stealing the top ring from them) is where all the points are

@@AndersManix Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems a little more then trivial to add another spot for a second ring. The claw uses friction to hold the ring in place, so to me it doesn't seem that easy to add the spot for a second ring. I do agree that if you figured that out though, it'd be pretty easy from there. To me, it also doesn't seem that worth it just for 1 point sometimes, but I could be wrong
