I just purchased this knife. I have to tell you, it's sweet. I'm an avid hiker and bushcrafter. This knife fits both of my passions perfectly. The 1095 High Carbon Steel keeps a nice edge and is easy to sharpen. The Ferro Rod is a great addition. The leather sheath is made very well. It's gorgeous. The look is really sharp. I just enjoy holding it and looking at it. LOL I think I found my new love. ❤
Me too. I had five TOPS Knives and the necker and Desert Fox were greater at slicing. I don't like to saw back n forth to cut through. Baja is full flat grind and that's my favorite grind. I like Baja 3.0 so this should be more. I also like Kodiak Jac, Dragonfly 4.5, Desert Nomad and lots of others. Good video to me. I like watching knives more than pictures of them laying still.
Nice looking knife! I love me some TOPS! I definitely need more than one knife for this life! I EDC my Silent Hero but wanted something a little smaller, so I ordered the HOG 4.5. I just got the shipping notification for the HOG, and I am already trying to decide between the Mohawk Hunter and the Team Jackal Survivor as my next TOPS. My fiance says I need to find a group or seek some counselling...
I've been doing my research and looking for my Goldie Locks, knife. After many purchases, still trying to find the ONE, not to big/heavy, not to small/thin. Looking at the Baja, it looks AMAZING, except for the screws in the scales. I'm sure they get the job done but why not use the one's like in the Field raft BOB, etc? Can you change out the screws or get extras from Tops, so I know I have the correct specs? The Old Gunny. USMC Ret.
Craig, I recently purchased this knife and I have to say, WOW!! It's all that you've described. I was a lil concerned that there isn't a 90 degree for the ferro rod but, no worries, I ranger banded an old reciprocating saw blade to the sheath👍. Thanks!!
tops is starting to become my favorite knife. I'm buying me first tops tomorrow and I've been struggling with deciding on this baja 4.5 or the Bob 154cm either I'm excited to buy my first tops. just struggling with the decision.
Great TOOLS my Favorite one is the Baja 4.5. Sleek with low profile. Yet the blade is wide enough to have the impact I need. I want a knife for EDC and for every situation I will encounter, within reason.
bird bones to make it a little easier to clean underneath the handles if stuff gets under there, like blood from skinning an animal for example. People are more likely to have a phillips screwdriver on them than a 3/32 hex wrench.
I totally get and appreciate having the ability to remove the scales. Personally I am so used to tinkering with my knives that I always have hex and torx wrenches at the ready, but yeah I don't know if that transfers to the majority of knife owners. Great design though, definitely on my list!
This baja 4.5 or the silent hero for a camping/buscraft knife. (Camping northern michigan, gutting fish, small animals, feather sticking, small traps, and once in a while batoning/chopping) thanks!
That thing is gonna sell like hot cakes! It's an awesome design, just from looking at it. And I love the sheath. I really want one. Although, I'm still very satisfied with my BOB fieldcraft.
Say Heah, I heard a few guys say, If only the Ratmandu came without a choil they would like it better, I guess top's did it. At first glipm's, I thought I was looking at a Swamp Rat Ratmandu, But I noticed the Baja didn't have a choil. Well, I love my choil, I never ran out of cutting edge because the choil on my Ratmandu. Even when I baton . To me a choil is like having two knife sizes in one. Nice looking knife, It does look like a Ratmandu.,,.
kpw528 One of the reasons we haven't made a BOB like that is because of the grind on it. The BRW finish actually colors the surface of the steel, but once we start polishing it for the modified scandi grind, it would lose that finish. It's not out of the question to make one without doing the scandi portion, but we don't have any plans currently to do that.
The Baja 3.0 has a short handle, which is on purpose to keep the overall length down. If you don't mind a 3 finger grip, it should be fine. If you're looking for something with a full grip in the handle, the 4.5 would be the better of the 2 for you. Just keep in mind they both serve different purposes. The 3.0 is a full 3 inches shorter overall, so it's more of an EDC. The 4.5 has a longer blade, so it's more of a woods knife unless you like carry mid-sized knives as EDC.
Very good knife but i disagree about the gimping, i think it is to sharp and totally unnecessary for this knife and just gets in the way of certain bush crafting tasks. I only you can listen to us once more and smooth out the top gimping so its not sharp and get rid of the bottom gimping altogether then this knife will be unmatched in its class. Great knife still but a gimping away from perfection.

TOPS Knives OUTSTANDING!!!!
Awesome showed batoning through real wood!! Not pine or poplar. Looked hard of a knife
cool!
Really cool looking knife! The shiny, phillips-head hardware looks kinda weird though. Is there a specific reason you guys went with that?

@@TOPSKnivesofficial so you losen the screw and swing the scale away from the blade; pivoting on the lanyard tube?

Yeah, im one who says choils and esp finger choil blows.
love the blade size and shape. Don't like the bottom jimping and would like it offered in a decent stainless steel as well. good looking knife!
I think I found my new edc blade
Great looking blade. Love the Black River Wash. Any chance on making a BOB model with the BRW finish? I think that would be awesome!

will the 3.0 version fit my large size hands or do you recommend this one thank you
