Oooo! I remember when we did the “description” exercise in Sam’s class. I have to admit that it was unnerving. And as I thought about the “descriptions/adjectives” that people were using to describe me, I was upset. But then, when Sam actually used the word “authentic” when he described me, I felt that it was quite possibly the biggest/best compliment that I’ve ever received.
To this day I tell students and other actors who have never taken Sam’s class… “It’ll change your life and it’ll change your career.”

Yeah was just having a conversation with a grad who, like many others, didn’t fully understand the depth of the work until it started manifesting in everyday life. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Long ago I decided to do my own thing with auditions and not worry about type. The industry decides that for me, and luckily, everyone seems to agree with what I have in my wheelhouse, including me.

The largest disconnect is in my personal life, honestly. I have trouble taking off that mask, which you are well aware of after having me in the SC workshop.

Yeah one of the inescapable aspects of the workshop is that it will reveal your true self intentionally or unintentionally 😬

I have always wished Alan Rickman was cast as Aragorn rather than Viggo Mortensen. Nothing against Viggo but I just wanted that Rickman ambiguity and gravitas.

Ah yes! I love imagining other actors in famous roles. And the stories of the celebs that were considered for iconic roles is so interesting.
One of the classics is Eric Stoltz originally being cast as Marty McFly and then getting fired a couple weeks into filming. Seeing some of his actual footage is sooooo weird.
