Xel-ha Cancun; Our family's review and what we loved the most! (Hint: We want to go back!)

- Around Cancun, Xel Ha (pronounced Shell-Ha: t.ly/Eo7j [ affiliate link] ) is considered the "Disney World" of exploration, from snorkeling in the saltwater lagoon where you might spot a stingray, colorful fish, and plenty of coral, to riding a 40-meter tall water slide or taking an inflatable raft down the lazy river.
Plan to make a day of your trip there, since it's a 90-minute drive from Cancun, with plenty of transportation options to get you there and back safely and easily.
You might want to swim through a grotto, or rope swing into a cavern of crystal-clear water called a Cenote (Se-note-ay).
Don't forget that you'll get All-You-Can-Eat food and drinks all day long with admission, and multiple ziplines and ropes courses above the water for travelers seeking some adventure!
If you're not sure your family with LOVE your time at Xel-Ha, our boys (6, 9, & 11) begged not to leave, and asked right away when we can go back!

Was the water cold and is it suitable for two year old twins
The water wasn't bath warm, but about average in January - the same as swimming in the gulf of Mexico. 2 years old might be a bit young to appreciate, but they would find plenty to climb on and lots of swimming area. Most of what there is to appreciate is under the water, so without wearing snorkeling gear, you might enjoy just going to a beach just as much. - Adam

Is the water safe? What about sharks?
Yes the water is safe. There is a chainlink fence at the inlet (underwater) so at this park, fish can come and go, but nothing larger can get in. - Adam

Hi Stefany. We saw kids of all ages snorkeling. I'm not sure if there's a minimum age, but our boys were 11, 9 & 6 at the time. - Adam
