I love this video but Karen just happen to be hoarse. But both women are Legends and Karen has been in the industry for much longer than Jennifer. But without comparing them, they are both unique vocalists with two different styles! They both have voices that has been emulated by the industries leading voices, both male and female! Im a fan of both actually! God Bless You!
Jennifer Holliday does not have the same color, versatility or flexibility as Karen. So you are right there literally is no comparison, people go to Karen to learn how to sing, no one ever says let me put on Jennifer to learn how to sing. Karen is vocal excellence!

Gospel lovers and those like us go to people like Karen to learn gospel perfection. However, women of theater go to women like Jennifer whose voices were born for the theater! Then women of Neo Soul and urban jazz go to Rachelle Farrell for tutelage! All amazing women with no easy to compare them. Lol. But major stars follow these women to grow their vocal abilities!
Jennifer is a legend. KCS is a legend. Trust, People have studied Jennifer as others have studied KCS. Their styles are different - as they should be. I have seen both, in their areas of expertise - Jennifer on Broadway, KCS in church Both slayed. 🔥 Grateful to God He has gifted them both- each a gift to me. TYL
Jennifer is queen of black Broadway for a reason! That voice in character with an unparralleled ability to convey every once of emotion with it is 🔥. I saw her in color purple. She did that! Wasn't old enough for dream girls or arms to short to box with God. But as per UA-cam those stage performances are untouchable still.

What do you mean “anointed”? Is there permanently healing, deliverance, etc.
To be anointed means that these women have the power of the holy spirit to minister, it is not just singing, there is power with it. In order to have that kind of power, you have to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you must then establish a relationship with him, only he can grant this anointed power.

Karen came there to lead this song. She was not called on the spot. This was a professional contracted recording. They would never call someone out of the audience to lead an entire song without prior notice. The lead singers agreed to sing before the recording..
And she was in good voice her for this time period. This was the same day she did that recording with Daryl Coley & that other young lady. She was reading those lyrics though 😆

None of which are in this song! She was hoarse. You are right, she was called up in their finale song to cut up Karen style in "He Lifted Me". Daryl was also called up to sing with the young lady from Vision, which is why she was looking shocked! And you right! She was reading those lyrics written for her! 🤣🤣🤣🙋♀️🙋♀️💝💝

They had just dropped their Miracle CD in '94. But since you know it all and is fact checking my positive comment of Karen's abilities, you should know that gospel songs gain momentum almost a year after their release! Especially in those days without social media! But that tells what you know about this performance or any other performances within the gospel circuit of that era.
She was always at the Asuza events because she and Carlton are close. He has always been in her circle! Your nasty comment wasn't even close to my point! But since you making something out of nothing, I'll bite! Tell me why Daryl Coley was called up to sing "When Sunday Comes" last minute if they never call you up to sing entire songs? Why was Vicki called up to sing with Vanessa at her event? Why was Tonex called up to sing a full song with Le'Andria? Why did The Williams Brothers call up the Clark Sisters to sing a full song? Why did Bobby call up The Barrett Sisters and The Caravans? Why did the Winans call Karen up to sing "Higher" where the Winans actually said themselves that they called her up to sing the song last minute and had to feed her the words? Marvin was supposed to lead it but something went wrong! Their words! Her last minute leads were not added to the CD either! Just on that particular live version! I could go on and on! This is what I personally like to call big girl voice. There's a reason why Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Karen Clark Sheard,Jennifer holiday, and Marion Williams all have a strong voice. Its because they all have a heavy weight. Please dont take this personally, because I am not here to insult anybody. But you you notice how smaller people like Ariana Grande seem to have smaller voices, its because she is so small so there isn't much weight to support the voice. But obviously Patti Labelle has such a powerhouse voice, because she has weight to support that voice, of course there are exceptions, like Whitney Houston, she is a pretty skinny person but she has such a big voice, which kind of surprises me, there are other examples like Rachel Farrel in the 90s. She's a small person with a big voice.
