Great to hear! We appreciate the feedback. We will soon produce another Raman video using the new QE65 Pro. Thank you for being a valued customer!

@Joseph Rivera >> Thanks for the question. A typical Raman spectrum will have a number of peaks, each peak corresponds to the vibrational frequency of a specific molecular bond, meaning that it can provide a form of molecular ‘fingerprint’. An absorption spectrum will show a number of absorption bands corresponding to structural groups within the molecule, however the spectrum is not as informative and characteristic as of the Raman spectrum. Maybe overkill for ethanol, but this is an example.

Boris, thank you for choosing the QE65000 for your Raman analysis. We do not have any device, as you've described. Our Raman probe is already built-in and we do not have any way to change it internally. We hope this has answered your question. If you have any other questions or concerns, let us know.

I´m using this RAMAN QE65000 and the video is very useful, very clear explanation!! Thanks!! Greetings from Argentina =)

@ Ocean Optics ( and Boris) -- Couldn't a FHS-UV filter holder be used, with an additional fiber optic from the filter holder to the QE65? Boris could insert the filters he needs into the filber optic holder to precision-attenuate the light before it gets to the QE65... If I'm picturing Boris' set-up properly. (If not, just ignore this comment.)

I´m also using RAMAN QE65000 and I have a question: do you have any device to put before the fiber from the laser neutral density filters

What mode of Raman do you use here? Backscattering or transmission?

@usbport123 & Boris... USB, this is a very good idea, but it is hard to say if this is the right solution. As you well mentioned we would have to see the details on Boris's set-up. Boris, if you are interested in opening a dialogue with our technical support staff, you could exchange setup photos via email, and further the conversation. If anybody has any additional suggestions, we appreciate the dialogue!

Good question. I don't think i have the perfect answer since I'm not an expert but i have a little knowledge about the two techniques. UV-Vis is not widely used in qualitative analysis due to the fact that there are very few absorption minima and maxima which means that you'd not be able to know the identity of your analyte but just the quantity of it. Raman, on the other hand, is widely used in qualitative and quantitative analysis bcz every bond "scatter" the light in a characteristic way.

What is the advantage of using Raman? Why not just use UV-Vis?
