This is an excerpt from A Skeptic's Path to Enlightenment Episode 81: a Biologist and a Buddhist on the Nature of Reality - A Conversation with Dr. Rupert Sheldrake and Geshe Namdak: www.skepticspath.org/podcast/...
Description: A biologist and a Buddhist monk have a conversation on how science can make sense of rebirth, emptiness, and karma, the origins of consciousness and creativity, and how modern science's understanding of the nature of reality could benefit from the wisdom of contemplative traditions.
Rupert Sheldrake, PhD, is a biologist and author best known for his hypothesis of morphic resonance. At Cambridge University he worked in developmental biology as a Fellow of Clare College. He was Principal Plant Physiologist at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics in Hyderabad, India. From 2005 to 2010 he was Director of the Perrott-Warrick project for research on unexplained human and animal abilities, funded by Trinity College, Cambridge.

A beautiful explanation, succinct, and elegantly presented explanation of his world view. The HARD question of "what is consciousness?" always exhausts the arguments of those who construct their world view based on, the only thing that matters is matter. Well done!

Personally I think it is obvious that consciousness is fundamental to reality.

@@jltdrum he followed it up with his summary, based on his 5 minute read of a 1500 page novel: "It's about war. And also peace."

Sort of tired of people acting like they can explain the nature of reality. This didn't explain antthin9

He said he doesn’t speak with a specific position. He doesn’t actually explain the nature of reality. Just explains the ways we percieve something to be reality
