Very different sound indeed! I love the sound of the spring in the 201 (some people hate them) but I don't really use it much, or for dub mixing... It's very dense and mid rangey, and has a short sustain.. it would cloud a mix quickly if using it for dubbing I think. That said, sometimes it's perfect for vocals, backing vocals or cross stick on the snare.. someone described it to me once as adding a mid range halo around vocals, I didnt understand until I heard it!
Cheers man :) The filter is also a Westfinga made High Pass, based on the old Altec filter design. The main outboard on all my mixes is the spring reverb tested in this mix, with the filter conencted via the desk to the reverb return, plus the Roland Tape Echo also seen here.. Between those that covers a lot of dubbing! I do occasionally pull out an electro harmonix phaser pedal and a Grampian 636 reverb for some Lee Perry style sounds
@@starshipdiscotheque6350 I think behringer have just released a clone of the mu tron which looks interesting! The small stone I have is about £60 I think which isn't too bad, but it doesn't have a lot of control.. kinda set and forget :)
@@starshipdiscotheque6350 I haven't used any of the Benidub stuff but it looks great, I think the phaser/filter they do would probably be what I would buy if I didn't have a phaser. The Benidub or behringer biphase would be my first choices at least :)
Excellent quality and dub

@@dubcavern6414thanks for the reply .. I looked up west finga and they have a rack version of this reverb also.. seems like it had a few extras
veeeery nice! what's the filter on the right? and out of curiosity - what are your "go to" outboard effects these days?
Cheers man :) The filter is also a Westfinga made High Pass, based on the old Altec filter design.

Lovely stuff. Are these units for sale yet?
Sorry mate just seen this! They are for sale nowadays I believe, in fairly limited quantity though :)
@@dubcavern6414dubplate!
what phaser did you use ?
Think it was probably one of the little Electro Harmonix small stone pedals at this time
@@dubcavern6414 oh wow impressive big sound...do you know payable and smaller alternatives for the mu-tron biphase ?:-)

@@dubcavern6414 I noticed that benidub from italy built a analog 12 stage phaser...do you know this ? sometimes it's cool "set and forget" :-)
