Music was my first love. BUT, reading was my second. I have trouble now deciding what to read. I walk into bookstores and im just overwhelmed. I don't know what is good anymore. And then when I read its like...I want to listen to something while I read and then I get distracted by whats playing and it goes ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND.....LOL
This is awesome! I'm 25, but my Beatles Literature collection is growing fast. Hard to find English copies out here in The Netherlands. Hope you are well.
I love IKEA, I bought a ton of the same book shelves you have back in the 90's and I still use them all throughout my house. They're great. Unfortunately, the closest IKEA to me if in Pittsburgh and I live in the Cleveland area.
Great collection of Beatle books! Do you have any of Bruce Spizer's books. I am thinking that you must have some of them. They are excellent books. I have purchased them as they were released. He is still going with the books! I remember buying and reading his first one on VJ Records (which used to be here in Chicago). It was really fascinating to me and quite detailed. It is truly amazing on the amount of Beatle books there are - and there is no end to them every year. So many people come up with different angles to cover.
Fun! As you know, I was rearranging my Beatles shelves this week, too. 'Tis the season! I sold about 11 boxes of Beatles books to a fellow forum member about ten years ago, so slightly less shelf space needed these days. Although, I've been getting into the little hardbacks being published in the Netherlands about LP and single pressings from every corner of the world. Fun to see the designs! Seeing your books again up close reminds me of so many great books that I loved reading and using for research. I missed most of the Genesis volumes, but I did get Mike McCartney's book. It's amazing. And I loved the new McCartney Legacy book! Thanks :)
Your video reminded me of all of the Beatles books I read and used to own. The one I kept (I saw it on your shelf) was the Beatles pop-up book because my parents brought it back from England.
I had to get rid of over fifty years of book collecting when I moved to Mexico. I had a small interview book that was given to me by a orange-robed Krishna outside of the Empire State Building back in the late '70s. I did keep the Bruce Spizer reference books on The Beatles' record labels, though.
I have Expedit and Kallax shelving. My milk crates just wouldn't hold the collection anymore.... A lot of people around here went to Ikea for their cheap breakfast's... LOL .... Beatles, bah humbug. Now books on the other hand I love. I used to collect 1st edition hard covers, my max amount I'd spend on one was 500. It was quite the collection. I had to sell it a long time ago when I ran into some financial difficulties. You being from California would be very familiar with a writer I had all of his books in first edition even his first book "A Cup of Gold". That was John Steinbeck. I dealt with rare book dealers from all over the world. I love the smell of old books too. They smell so academic. LOL ... Cheers Mazzy.
@@BobbyGass5 Bobby, I had a friend who started collecting Steinbeck 1st editions in the mid-1970s... unfortunately, I never asked if he still had them once he got married and had kids.

Gee Mazzy, you must have every book on The Beatles and Beatle related ever published. I have yours and maybe 10 or 15 more. That's an amazing collection of Beatle literature.
Hey Mazzy.. Enjoyed that. I have collected every Genesis book until recently along with some great Taschen editions and similar. Storage and display is a real issue due to their large, unconventional sizing. No Ikea in little old New Zealand.
OK not bad but I didnt see Kevin Barry's BEATLEBONE ....an imagining of John Lennons trip to the island he bought and briefly visited off the coast of Ireland.
Hi Mazzy , You will read about the first time my late husband met John Lennon if you have the book "John Lennon" by Alan Clayson. If you Google "Google books John Lennon Alan Clayson Brian de Courcy" you should be able to read the paragraph online. It is described as a "laddish comment" about beìng impressed with Brian's handshake... but now it would be described as very un-PC! This occured at one of the four Beatles concerts in 1964 backstage at Melbourne's Festival Hall (aka The Stadium). 👱♀️❤

Great library of books! I am reading the McCartney Legacy book by Allen Kozinn Good book as he writes about the recording sessions Most books on MCartney are about things you already know but this book is different!!
Amazing collection. Am I right in thinking that the Beatles only made two live appearances on American television: 2/9/64 (New York) and 2/23/64 (Miami Beach)?
I stand corrected. Actually, Norm, the Miami show (Deauville Hotel) aired on 2/16. Their third Sullivan appearance on 2/23 was pre-recorded in New York on 2/9 earlier in the afternoon, before the live show at 8:00 PM. Those songs were then aired on their last Sullivan appearance on 2/23. It's surprising, but I guess Epstein had an exclusive contract with Sullivan, and they became so big so fast that further live TV served no real purpose. I believed The Beatles did quite a few TV appearances in England before their success in the States. By contrast, The Rolling Stones made TV appearances beyond Ed Sullivan, even a local show like Clay Cole. @@mazzysmusic
I had a Library of 10,000 books once. I'm out side of Montreal and we had to significant power failures this year (rarer these days); one late winter , the other early spring...lasting 12 hours and 36 hours respectively. I couldn't spin records 😋so I read half during one headlamp sitting and finished it during the second. For anyone who hasn't read it, it's like a bullet point overview of John's various eras from when when he first met Paul up, through his Mai Pang "lost weekend" year (you referenced) and to his reunion with Yoko; with occasional flash forward chapters in the days leading up to his assassination. Did you bother to read it? With the knowledge from your extensive collection, any one line comments or caveats before I pass it on to a friend?
