  • Every Day Carry EDC counts on you actually carrying it every day. One of the easiest ways to do that is to integrate it into something you are already carrying or wearing.
    The Cache Belt from Wazoo Survival Gear is a great option to do just that. In this video, I will show you the belt and a couple of ready-made kits that you can get for your belt, the 15-piece Everyday Essentials Kit, and the 22-piece Adventure Kit.

    The Long Red Braid has reviewed the video and would like me to announce that was satire and in no way represented how we met haha. She also informed me that my dry humor may not be apparent and that I should also let you know I was joking about the whole thing afterwards with a woman being a prude if she didn’t like her bottle near your junk in case it wasn’t apparent that I was kidding. Thanks! -Management

      look man bottle openers just turn me off.. there is absolutely no purpose to a bottle opener.. A bottle opener can be improvised from almost anything ... now you take your standard church key.. no THAT can be handy..

    Depends on who is speaking. It’s a French word which they pronounce as cash-ay. But for some unknown reason we Americans think we can take their word and pronounce it our own way. I believe you are correct in pronunciation of the word Cache,with the accent on the second syllable. It also depends on if you are still trying to impress the prude at the bar after you opened her beer with your Worldly travels & Worldly knowledge of languages. In short "If you can't Dazzle them with your brilliance,Baffle them with BS". From one snake eater to another I really enjoy your video's, I learn something new with everyone I watch one. While I was in the Army I pronounced it "cashay" mostly because that's the way everybody said it . As a civilian I pronounce it "cash" which is the way it's supposed to be. There's the right way, the wrong way and then Army way.

    • @DrWaCaS
      @DrWaCaS 4 роки тому +2

       @The Gray Bearded Green Beret It's pronounced like "cash". It came from a french word : a "cache" (the "e" is usualy silent in french at the end of a word) wich mean a "concealed storage". That's what's used by smugglers or pirates to hide stuff. Say it like a french guy speaking english and you'll nail the pronounciation.

    • @samkeeb4007
      @samkeeb4007 4 роки тому +1

      @@DrWaCaS ah... this makes so much sense. I figured the etymology was French. I am guessing the military "mispronounces" the word intentionally to maintain a singular meaning, like "Alpha, Bravo, Charlie" means only 1 thing even during a garbled transmission. I heard some branches of the military not pronounce the "G" in Sargent, and Gunnery Sargent simply becomes "Gunny". Perhaps it is just military tradition?
      Somewhere lost in the annals of history, there is probably a story of how American soldiers read the french word in the Revolutionary War in a coresspondence with Lafayette, and the "cash -A" resupply became famous for changing a battle's outcome. It pays to be prepared.

    Casher (pronounced cash - AY) is French for "to hide". Cashe' (with the accent mark - pronounced cash - AY, yes exactly the same) is the past participle of the verb Casher. So, you are correct, it is cash-AY. The word cashet (pronounced the same way) means a seal or approval. You don't pronounce the "T" unless the next word begins with a vowel. This gets your mouth moving in the correct direction to pronounce the next word. French is the only language in history that was actually created (by combining all the different dialects) to be easy to read, speak, and understand. A beautiful, exact, accurate language.

    Love all your vids....cool belt. Cut and pasted by Merium Webster; Cache means "a group of things that are hidden," and entered English in the 1700s. It can also mean cache memory, or "a part of a computer's memory where information is kept so that the computer can find it very quickly." This word is pronounced \CASH\.
    Cachet has several meanings. It can mean "prestige," "medicine prepared so that it can be swallowed," or "an official seal," the oldest meaning of the word in English, first used in the 1600s. It is pronounced \cash-AY\. I love a kit...especially the larger one. I'm going to grab one of these belts too. Great job...Great ideas

    Before I watch the remainder of the video let me paraphrase from the Merriam Webster dictionary. I also have not read the comments yet so forgive me if what I post is redundant. The word cache as we use it, is pronounced as cash. It does come from the French word cacher of the same meaning but pronounced as "cashay . Hopefully this dispels any argument in the future. Now I'm eager to finish your video. I am a fan of the information that you provide in your videos.

    Excellent video. Cache, from "Vulgar Latin" adapted by the French and pronounced "Kash" referring to a storage of money or goods. IMHO the French never could spell. An interesting concept similar to a money belt. When I was a kid I bought an old leather cartridge belt at a yard sale, that had I believe 8 pouches on it that made a great place to carry things that you might want at hand and didn't have to dig for in a pack.

    "cache", "caché"? How do I respond? According to Webster, both mean the same thing, "A hidden supply, or resource". According to Webster.com, "from Vulgar Latin *coacticare to press together, from Latin coactare to compel, frequentative of cogere to compel - more at COGENT. As far as pronunciation is concerned, The general rule in English is that an 'e' at the end of a word is silent.
    Since this word appears to originate from Latin, the "proper" pronunciation would be, "cash". SemperFi!

    Yeah, the bit opening the bottle with the belt buckle cracked me up love it. I've always pronounced it Cash as in cash money but I heard it pronounced the other way, I understand either way. Looking forward to more about the EDC belt. Ya'll take care.

    Great video. Sorry man, but linguistics are against you. The French verb cacher ("to hide"), is pronounced \cash-AY\ - but the two are spelled and pronounced differently... and mean two different things. Cache means "a group of things that are hidden" and is pronounced \cash\.

    In the netherlands we say geld belt. It rhymes and beats any french/ american way of pronouncing. 😝.
    Now i would love to win that great kit and gonna order that belt!
    Thanx the video.

    I have mad respect for you but, you are wrong here. It's definitely cash, like Johnny Cash. $$$ ;)

      As much as I like Johnny, he is not one that I feel I can trust for proper pronunciation and usage. Did you know that he once shot a guy just so he could watch him die? Reno I think it was. Don’t remember all the details but I remember he spent some time in prison for it

      @@GrayBeardedGreenBeret Wow! Way to be judgmental. His lack of character and respect for human life has no bearing on his ability to use proper pronunciation and language use.

    Caché

  • @johnr.1749
    @johnr.1749 3 роки тому

    I speak french fluently. The correct pronunciation for cache is just like cash. It comes from thee french term for the bottom hidden place in a boat. Like many of our words that come from maritime terms. Caché or cachée (cash eh) is the adjective that means hidden and cacher is the verb.
    By the way your channel is amazing.
