If I were to tell you what percentage of men have the capacity to sexually abuse a child, you wouldn’t believe it. It’s not a small number by any means. The vast majority of the men who do things like this aren’t even p3d0s - men who are primarily attracted to young children, not adults. They’re men who are married with kids, primarily attracted to adult women or men, but would abuse a child given the opportunity. The statistics keep me awake at night.
Child predators sometimes use their own children to lure other kids. Given what she took in her backpack, seems like she thought she was going to meet a friend. Maybe the 13YO?
I think about this case often. I have been wondering if two separate incidents happened. Asha ran away for some unknown reason and was either picked up by someone offering to “help” or hit by a car. I have absolutely no idea why she would’ve left her home on a stormy night. She was afraid of storms, the dark and dogs. It makes no sense. I hope her family gets answers soon. Bless them all.
I know that this has nothing to do with anything, but a couple named "Deadman" running an assisted living facility and a murder suspect named "Underhill" make this all seem weirder, like...the names are way too on-the-nose. May this child and any other children they've potentially harmed get justice!
@@Anotherpuppychildthey aren’t. Used to know the Dedmon’s when their girls when the oldest two were toddlers/preschool age. They ran a private school and my kids went there for a little while.
Lets hope that after 24 years of not knowing what happened to little Asha that this case is about to solved and those responsible are held accountable. Asha deserves to rest in peace and her parents need to be able to do that for her.
This case has been on my mind all the time. I live about 30 minutes from Shelby and it happened around the time I moved to North Carolina. Prayers for some answers
Hope they can close this case as that guy in the home has something to do with her disappearance and maybe not the first missing child either. May the victims get justice as the families need closure
This really is such a bizarre case with many twists and turns. It’s hard to picture a young child leaving the house at 4 AM in the pouring rain no matter who she promised to meet. Why wasn’t she too scared to leave alone at that hour, especially when it’s a highway with no safe place to walk? Was she fleeing something dangerous or did she think she would be coming back? Why wouldn’t she tell anyone her plans, kids usually blab to *someone* like a friend or classmate. It’s so weird.
Thanks for the recap. I really can't see how they could have lured her out of the house, and the coincidence of someone else luring her out of the house and their being involved in her death seems incredible. I'm glad that they are making progress. I'm not sure whether they are really that much closer to having the answers.
I've been following the case. It's been crazy. I still wonder if one of the daughters had hit poor Asha whilst they were driving at night and the parents tried to cover it up. I hope Asha's family finally gets answers. ❤
My friend and I ran away at age 8. To me, this was an all or nothing decision and deciding to do it meant there was absolutely NO going back. But it wasn't long before she got scared and changed her mind and told the adults where she left me. I can still hear the pain in my mother's voice as she called for me while I hid. But I still believed that there was no turning back and I had to stay hidden and quiet, at ALL costs. Unfortunately, the person I was running from is the same person that found me.
Congratulations on half a million subscribers! 500K is a great accomplishment! Love you guys! 🎉👏🏼 💞 In my opinion a 9-year-old does not leave home unless home is not actually safe. Possibly. What a tragic case to still not have all the answers. 💔⚖️

Maybe someone else with a CB radio in there car heard the trucker say a little girl was walking all alone on the side of the road and and they took her, lots of folks had those back then.
This is such a strange case, It seems much more likely she was removed by a stranger but because she was witnessed walking on the road we know thats not true. Its crazy that at nine years old she planned and executed such a detailed escape. She must have packed her stuff ahead of time and then waited for her dad to get home and do his last check of her b4 she left. Thats a lot of thought and I would expect a child to fall asleep waiting till 2am and then sleep thru the night. What could possibly be the motivator that could make her leave her home and family and walk down a dark road and then off into an even darker forest all alone? Most children her age may think they are running away but the end of the driveway is as far as they get because its dark and scary out there. I hope the answers will be coming soon, so the family can perhaps begin to heal.
I hope we get some answers about what really happened to this precious child. The hit and run theory, although the cops saw no evidence of that on the road, what if that was it. One of the daughters might have been driving and hit her by accident and pulled her into the car and the father took control of what to do with Asha. But if that’s the case, there’s still the question of what made Asha leave her home. So is it two separate cases? There’s so much to this case but so little answers.
Wow! I’ve followed this case from its inception. Never thought it could be solved. Really hoping it’s going to happen soon now. I’d love to know why Asha left that early morning and why.
I suspect we may discover even more victims and/or horrors, so police/investigators need to be very certain and thorough before committing to charges and bringing it to trail. Amzaing what can be done with evidence now.
I'm sure this has been looked into, but I'd want to know everything about that slumber party she went to right before she disappeared. Who was there, what they did, what they said, what access to phones and internet Asha may have had while she was there...
I just thought about that too. I’ve read some stuff on Reddit about some church connections somehow with the Dedmon family. I haven’t been able to make sense of this tho. Also, about Connie’s brother who died this past April. He was a preacher. And then in May the sheriff dept announced they were closing in on the case.
The more i hear of this story the more it doest make sense. So glad to see this update…I pray they find Asha and provide answers for the heartbroken family and community. Did she walk to school as a normal routine? Maybe the power outage had her confused as to the time?
Could it be possible that she was sleep walking. I have a cousin who would do that as a child. After the police brought him home at age 3, they put in slide locks high up where he couldn't reach.
Asha's case has haunted me for years... this poor baby. I still wonder if she was lured out by a local predator, maybe from the church community. A kid doesn't need to be online to be targeted, and her parents' anniversary is Feb 14th--perhaps the lure was to get them a secret gift. Hm.
I’m cautiously optimistic but I guess we’ll see if there are any new accusations or more substantive physical evidence tying her to the family. I really hope they’re able to solve this. It’s a case I’ve followed closely for some time. Her family needs her back with them, even if it’s only something to bury.
I’m wondering if all the evidence has to do with Asha or other secrets they’ve kept over the years. Lots of problems with the nursing homes. Actually, I think they were more for mentally ill folks. I’ve also heard some other rumors since I live in Cleveland County. There are at least two other missing people who went missing close to some of their property. Related? I’ve just been wondering.
I thought I had heard or read somewhere she had a pen pal. Maybe going to meet them? Did they maybe go to the same church as the family now under investigation? I pray this family gets answers soon. I can't imagine not knowing.

Whatever the reason I pray this family receives the answers they need . I couldn't imagine living so long without knowing what happened to my child. Thank you for this video on the case . I hope there's a resolution soon. My continued prayers for the family and friends ❤
You can see that car on google earth. The date range of the image is 2015-2016. It took me days to find it. You have to somehow manage to get the angle just right to see it due to all the darn trees on the property. I wish it was possible to attach images on these comments, I’d attach some snapshots I took. Also, you can see a car that looks similar to the description the FBI provided on G👀gle Street View (the year 2008). It’s not as clear as the more recent images so the color of the car isn’t really clear.
Hi Chris. What a bizarre story. I feel for the parents. I never heard about this. I bet all these people are involved in some way. The girls, parents, and Russell. To bad he passed away. Thank you Chris for sharing and have a good week. Hi Amy
My feeling is that Russell wasn’t directly involved but just knew too much. He had reported not long before he died that he had been threatened. Roy was his contact in case of emergency and Connie was in charge of his meds. He didn’t seem to have any family he was close to. Another woman went missing from one of the Dedmon’s facilities and wasn’t found for 10 years. Her family was in Florida and thought she was being taken care of before she went missing. Another man went missing and was found a few days later I think 1000 yards from the facility. There’s lots of controversy surrounding the Dedmons. Connie was the local mall manager in the 80s. They also ran a private school where my kids went for a couple of years before I pulled them out. I didn’t even know until just recently that they were racist and no blacks were allowed in his school. I got to thinking about it and realized that there weren’t any when my kids attended. I felt bad after finding out but that was almost 40 years ago and I was clueless. I would have never let them attend somewhere knowing that. I’m curious to find out about all the evidence they confiscated and if it’s related all to Asha or other crimes. It’s all too weird to me. There are a couple of other missing people in our county and now I wonder about them. Not accusing anyone but I got to thinking about how they went missing near one of the other properties that was searched. Coincidence? I haven’t been around them since around 87 so I no longer know them or their girls, the two oldest who where just a couple of years younger than mine.
Either someone she knew and trusted got her to leave the house that terrible night using the promise of something she really loved or just an adventure in the mind of a 9 year old girl gone very very wrong.. So sad.. I hope she is still alive. 🙏
The photo of the mystery girl is quite curious, as that other girl bears a striking resemblance to the missing Asha. Coincidence? Doctored image (there were tricks even before A.I. to do such things)? Or something more?
I've never heard about this case, but i don't live in the US, and this took place well before todays 'instant' /global media. But i must say, for all the bad shit that goes on in the world, i am very, very glad that this little girl has not been eternally forgotten by law enforcement. There's a few hearts still going here, and i pray this story can be answered. Great storytelling, Chris. i was with you all the way and probably about to fall down another rabbit hole. Oh, and big ❤ to you and Amy (with the Princess Hair!) on finally cracking 500k! So proud of you both and very happy for you and i wish you much continued success. 👊🥂
My thoughts keep coming back to the accident that knocked out the power to her home. Maybe she gathered up things she needed to take to a friend's or relative's house for a much wanted bath or something that needed power to complete a task that kept nagging her. Maybe, something due the next day? She obviously was having trouble falling to sleep for some compelling reason. Also, I once had a dog that raced out my front door as I was ushering visitors in and, seeing children playing in the park across the street, he dashed into the path of a car that couldn't stop in time. He died instantly, No blood, No noise. So, maybe the driver of the car might have scooped up the child and drove someplace for help, only to find she was already dead. A coverup set in motion??? Too many options to brainstorm and look into. Hope and Pray that they locate her and bring her home to her family. Having lost a son myself, it's very comforting to see them lovingly buried in a place you can visit.
Why do you think they uncovered so much evidence in a totally different location after using DNA though? You still think it was a simple one-off that NO ONE confessed to even though law enforcement was aware of the situation?
How would you connect the Dedmon’s DNA then? I don’t think her family had anything to do with it. Waiting to see what comes out from all the recent evidence they collected. That’s a LOT of evidence for the Dedmons to not be involved.
3 ideas. 1. Something of note happened at slumber party night prior. 2. Power outage plays a role. 3. Motivated by basketball game loss, went to workout or condition (as grown athletes sometimes do) then got hit by car in the dark.
Hmmm, if I had to guess, she left because there was trouble at home. Was someone coming into her room at night so she fled?? Only logical reason for a little girl to flee in the dead of night. She would've picked daylight hours if the trouble was something else. That's the reality for a lot of girls. Dad seems to do a lot of "checking in" with the kids.
Literally zero evidence of that as the narrator tells us in the beginning and it’s been checked thoroughly and for years since the case occurred, but we’ll see. Did you hear the part where there is a ton of evidence going on in other properties??
I believe someone promised to take her somewhere when she realized what was going on she tried to run away and they shot her they took a rifle from dedmons property
You’re part of what the Dad did that night is not accurate. He had to work the next morning.. he went out around 11 pm and bought Valentines candy. He check on the kids about 2:30 am.
I don't understand if she was in her pajamas and then got dressed to leave without a coat they said...I mean her brother didn't notice or wake up wow that's crazy to me! I believe she was meeting someone because if she wanted to run away she could've did anytime..I mean it was supposedly storming that night?? And whoever buried her backpack probably couldn't burn it..maybe they lived in the city around people..think about it...
I just watched the episode on slapped ham Mysteries I believe this what it's called the UA-cam channel where they talked about this whole case on how she disappeared and never was seen again and what she took with her and what was found and then I see this one😮
I think she was lured out of her home and got hit by a car by the teen driver, and was killed (or died from injuries) to cover up the crime. Ik it sounds outlandish but im a firm believer that when one predator is watching a target, so is others. Once you leave your home you are potential prey.
Then why has all the evidence pointed elsewhere and to much more going on with the same people and location - none point to a hit and run thus far (including police putting out an APB to stay alert to the incident).
@kevinbernard9791 one driver called authorities and the other turned his truck around to find her. Did you not listen to the video? All of this was explained
@@ciarabarnes591 THANK YOU, the video could not have been more clear, and still too many comments are ppl talking out of their butts - it’s disappointing and revealing how many speak on such a sensitive topic without LISTENING.
It’s less likely it was a “stranger” as two passed her and like normal people called police about it - however, the amount of potential evidence found in the CONNECTED *suspects* points to a planned and more sinister outcome.

@ritadyer9295 yes I forgot that. Ty.
If she was lured it could have come from someone at their church , school or team all have other children that can be used to lure an innocent kid .
Whatever the reason I pray this family receives the answers they need . I couldn't imagine living so long without knowing what happened to my child. Thank you for this video on the case . I hope there's a resolution soon. My continued prayers for the family and friends ❤
Ames and Chris! Love y’all so much. Thank you for making it Sundayfunday!!!or as we say in bham al … sundyfunnndy
Glad we could be part of your Sunday. 🌞..Have a nice evening.
I live in Burke County, where her bag was found.
Where does a 9 year old go?
I hope that this poor girls family find some answers. Why did she leave in the dead of night? What compelled her? May she S.I.P
She had to wait for her parents to be asleep for whatever this plan was and he father did not go to bed until 2 am.
Dedman. So, the killer is a Deadman. What a crazy name.
Dedmon. Not man.
This breaks my heart! This is my husband’s little cousin. I pray this case gets solved!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Why are you lying?
Either someone she knew and trusted got her to leave the house that terrible night using the promise of something she really loved or just an adventure in the mind of a 9 year old girl gone very very wrong.. So sad.. I hope she is still alive. 🙏
The photo of the mystery girl is quite curious, as that other girl bears a striking resemblance to the missing Asha. Coincidence? Doctored image (there were tricks even before A.I. to do such things)? Or something more?
@@tablescissors Another victim I think sadly. Finding her identity is very important.
Maybe she had a friend that met her at her window and she left with somebody. We may never know
❤ Thank you Chris! Hey Amy! ❤❤❤❤❤I haven't seen Vern commenting lately, does anybody know if he's okay?
This story will never go away in our county! We all want justice for Asha.
💔
Why is this so cool
Sending prayers 🙏❣️
So can someone explain what all this means? Who took and killed Asha?
I’m convinced that the “witnesses” who saw her are lying. I don’t think she ever left her house.
How would you connect the Dedmon’s DNA then? I don’t think her family had anything to do with it. Waiting to see what comes out from all the recent evidence they collected. That’s a LOT of evidence for the Dedmons to not be involved.
@@ritadyer9295 Facts 💯
3 ideas. 1. Something of note happened at slumber party night prior. 2. Power outage plays a role. 3. Motivated by basketball game loss, went to workout or condition (as grown athletes sometimes do) then got hit by car in the dark.
No evidence points to any of this though and we’re uncovering more sinister stuff, closer to far more planned disappearances.
There are too many weird coincidences. Kidnapping, murder, human trafficking? All possibilities. I hope this case can finally be solved.
You’re part of what the Dad did that night is not accurate. He had to work the next morning.. he went out around 11 pm and bought Valentines candy. He check on the kids about 2:30 am.
No computer, what in the world could have led to a 9 year old leaving in the middle of the night this is so crazy.
I ran away several times in the desert at 9, bad home.
Everyone knew however local authorities wouldn’t investigate.
Source?
I don't understand if she was in her pajamas and then got dressed to leave without a coat they said...I mean her brother didn't notice or wake up wow that's crazy to me! I believe she was meeting someone because if she wanted to run away she could've did anytime..I mean it was supposedly storming that night?? And whoever buried her backpack probably couldn't burn it..maybe they lived in the city around people..think about it...
My sibling was a dead-to-the world sleeper too; I could even toy with their hands and wouldn’t wake up. However, it’s a fair point.
I think the motive was sexual in nature, hopefully more evidence comes to light so Asha's family and community can get resolution and justice❤
She probly thought they were gonna kidnapped her
Maybe asha didn't leave home ? And the family has something to do with her death?
Two truckers saw her walking in the rain.
@@ciarabarnes591 and did nothing ?
@kevinbernard9791 one driver called authorities and the other turned his truck around to find her. Did you not listen to the video? All of this was explained
@@ciarabarnes591 THANK YOU, the video could not have been more clear, and still too many comments are ppl talking out of their butts - it’s disappointing and revealing how many speak on such a sensitive topic without LISTENING.
I remember when that little girl disappeared
😮😮😮
I think she was kidnapped while on her 4 am stroll. Someone got rid of her immediately and left her belongings on the side of the highway. So sad 😢
It’s less likely it was a “stranger” as two passed her and like normal people called police about it - however, the amount of potential evidence found in the CONNECTED *suspects* points to a planned and more sinister outcome.
