Danger at RAF Aird Uig: A Forgotten Chapter of WWII Aviation History | Photo Walk Adventure
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2024
- Join me on this eerie photo walk as I follow in the footsteps of Gary Gough, discovering the haunting beauty of the abandoned RAF Aird Uig base. Along the way, we'll encounter fighting bulls, highland cattle, and find inspiration in the ever-changing Scottish weather.
But also you'll see:
* Military Barracks: Once bustling with life, now silent and decaying.
* Old Cars and Engines: Rusting relics of a bygone era.
* Abandoned Kitchens and Mess Rooms: Frozen in time, with remnants of the past.
* Creepy Corridors: Graffiti-covered walls, exuding a horror movie atmosphere.
* Historic Artifacts: Old manuals, switches, and keys that have survived the test of time.
* Dust and Rust: Aged textures that add to the site's mysterious allure.
Watch till the end to see the photos I managed to capture.

What a strange place that is! Thank you for showing it to us!
I know it was amazing thanks to Gary for showing us at first
The lorry chassis was a Bedford TL from the early 80's. My father's first job in England, after his National Service, was with Bedford Vans (a subsidiary of General Motors/Vauxhall) in Luton.
There's an old WW2 camp not far from mine, poking around it one day I walked into the old common room, looking to take a photo of the old upright piano, thinking about all those old time songs sung by boys that possibly never came back again, mind on camera settings in the dim interior, when an unspotted bloody big barn owl with a six foot wingspan took off from a bracket on the far wall and flew out of a broken window. I have never crapped myself so much in my life. Owl gone, total chicken left behind 😬
I bet that made you jump, i think i would of screamed haha
@@paulcomptonpdphotography I'm sure there were a few expletives. The annoying thing is if I'd spotted the owl it would have made a great shot ...
haha keep eyes open
What a fascinating place. I'm surprised you didn't take some photos of the coastline, it looked fabulous too.
Next time! defo... i had limited time
What a great place to visit.
Very interesting video and i remember watching Gary's video.
It's good to see that it hasn't been all knocked down as it is part of our history.
Great image's as usual mate.
Look forward to the next one.
Its why i went gary showng us
That was a great video.
Very interesting albeit a bit eerie.
Some great shots.
Well done Paul.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video Paul. we were over there last year in June. That little cafe that looks like a bungalow is infact a bungalow but she has opened it up as a cafe. makes amazing soup. great vid mate.
Thats crazy but why not..
I visited this place in November 2022. Fascinating and strange.
oh yes really it is.. do you know other places like this i may like
@PaulComptonPDphotography l have seen old defences around Dover Castle, some of these are pretty well known though. Where I live in Kent most defensive sites are now museums or inaccessible tunnels.
I do like the old stuff, just been to a place in Angelsey sure you will see it when i get round to editing the photos haha
Great images and interesting place
Glad you enjoyed it
I saw Gary Gough's video a few months ago, shot from the same place, he found a load of musical instruments that have since been removed and sold,
Ye rthats why i went i see the same one, knew there was nothing like that i just wanted to see the place, i love stuff like this and he finds and gets toilds og some great ones...
Definitely not a place i would venture into on my own but a fascinating place to explore
It was so so cool but scary
Only my opinion but what a hideous carbuncle on the landscape that place is and at the same time a great reminder of what we are doing to the world we live in. Wouldn't you think the authorities would show some responsibility and bulldoze the site and return it to how it was prior to the base being built. I can see how some people would find it interesting but it's not for me Paul. Then again I am a traditionalist when it comes to photography.
I know what you mean, its a shame its there but its also so cool
