Wow this is great, I notice a lot of these techniques when Dr. Phil is talking to patients(like not giving approval statements)! I'm not a nurse but these would really improve my communication skills👍😊
I wish I would have found this channel before I took my NCLEX... Failed and when I got my CRP back, it was MENTAL HEALTH and PHARM that I was below average... 3.5 weeks until I test again..I GOT THIS!!
Your a lifesaver! I have my first mental health concepts exam Wednesday and I have been stressed about remembering all these. You helped so much! Online courses due to COVID have been rough!!!
This was great! I’m a nursing major (still doing my basics before nursing school) and I just got hired as a CNA to a mental health crisis unit. We didn’t talk about therapeutic communication in my CNA class so I’m trying to become familiar with some of these techniques before my orientation and specialized training.
Very interesting I am 67 and I was first hospitalized on a psychiatric ward in 1969 at age 15 The nurses were cruel and sadistic The prescribed treatment was aversion treatment: seclusion, restaurants, and painful and humiliating IM injections in the buttocks The quality of psychiatric nurses has improved tremendously as has their communication skills
Definitely. Im actually in mental health nursing myself. im still in orientation and i am having SO much trouble providing communicating communication without effort like some of these female nurses. Its like men have to rewire our mindset of social dynamics in order to become 'good nurses'

*_Hey my friend! I found you in Cathrin's comments section and wanted to stop by and say hi! Wishing you the best on your UA-cam journey
Thank you! You too! 💕
How would you respond to a patient that is seeking for you to agree with them with comments like "Right?" or "Am I right"
It depends on what is being discussed but you could always say " that is one point of view, what are some other perspectives"
Do you think males have a different set of challenges to becoming
more effective nurses, or even qualifying compared to females?
Hello thanks for your question. I think both genders have their own unique set of challenges that they need to overcome.

@@johnpaulopenetrante4274 Males are employed in mental health nursing for their muscles and not for any communication skills
