No matter how much time goes by, this performance can still bring me to tears. It wasn’t just the beautiful choreography or the beauty of the dancers themselves, but the emotion they both showed that makes it amazing.

For my money, that was and is the most beautiful dance from DWTS, ever. So pure, and such perfect storytelling.

I haven’t watched this show since 2007-ish but THIS is what I’d want to see. I can’t describe how good they are together - he picks her up and places her like she’s a doll - although some routines improve with time, I doubt they could recreate this emotion again to this degree - feels so raw
The last couple of years there are no dances even close to how beautiful that was.
This made me cry.

It looked like they both broke down in tears at that end of hugging. But hugging in a way of if you dont you will die! This was the most soul warming dance!!
Yeah, this was the dance that set the bar for Contemporary dances. This truly was breathtaking. Even now👏👏👏👏👏

There has never been any performance like this one !! Derek & Kellie complimented each other and their chemistry was so deep it took over as they shook in each other's arms during their last embrace . It took my breath away.

I remember seeing this as they did it and it was as heartbreakingly beautiful and perfect as it is the 10th time I watched it. Well deserved win!
Watching all the contributions of Kellie and Derek during Season 16 gave me a whole new perspective on Kellie. I thought she was FABULOUS from the beginning. The trust she had in Derek shows over and over again. And, Derek was able to display his genius with her. This is my favorite season because of these two.
I remember watching and it’s one of those moments that I’ve never forgotten. I admire Derek’s choreography and Kelli’s dedication. He’s an amazing dancer.
The way Derek and Kellie hugged each other (not once but twice) at the end spoke volumes about their partnership. This was a match made in heaven. DWTS should be proud for having this pair in its history.
Yes this was beautiful but I didn’t see one dance step. This was gymnastics.

@@judyroberson4976 Rubbish gymnastics my backside shows how little you know! This is modern freesystyle expressive dance telling a story in the most modern way of dance! Brilliant and emotive!! You need to open your eyes and your heart, try watching the brilliant Maddie Ziegler especially in the videos she did with Sia. Expressive dance at it's very best!

That was absolutely stunning. So much emotion behind it. It is 2024 and I am seeing this for the first time. I could see and feel the emotion even before I knew the back story. This deserved to win.

It was the first time anyone had done a contemporary for the freestyle and it was so jaw droppingly impressive that after that everyone wanted to do a contemporary freestyle. Once again the trend maker. Derek was and is always the best.
This is my fave freestyle of season 16! I was so happy when kellie and derek won!

Forget once-in-a-generation talent.... Hough is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. I NEVER get tired of watching his choreography. As much as I love SYTYCD, I don't understand how he doesn't win Emmys every year.

As the judges would sometimes say, I wish I had an 11 paddle. Watching this routine all those years ago, and to see it again today, pulls at every hear string! As Kellie said in their package about the routine, they performed this by the power of the dance! Derek stripped away everything else and let the dance speak for itself, and indeed it did!
