Actually Vince Clarke and Andrew Fletcher (RIP as of Today), did founded the band and then invited Martin gore to found "Composition of Sound". Then when. Dave Gahan came in they renamed the Band Depeche Mode.
Great list, Music For the Masses is my #1. I agree with you on their later albums. I recently revisited “Spirit” and found the song “Cover Me” pretty good - but that was about all!
Alan stopped writing songs after Some Great Reward because he just figured that it doesn’t come to him naturally and that Martin’s more prolific at it. Anyways, you have an interesting list~ Here’s mine:
those late albums are pretty crap.. unmemorable. would love to see DM live someday. They are on my bucket list of bands to see live. I think I stopped following their records after Ultra.

Yes such a great band so underrated.

yes!! glad you did this - love this band too. so many good albums. lets see how you rank them
Every song from Violator is amazing! top to bottom. played that album so many times over and over on repeat in high school. Still stands up today too
1. Black celebration
I’ve never been a fan but it was
would love to see more of your rankings - maybe Human League sometime?
I'm not a big fan of theirs, but what I do love; the albums Dave Gahan has done with Soulsavers - especially "The Light the Dead See"
Very nice list. I'd switch 1 and 4, but I agree with every other ranking. I also agree that Ultra is the last album that is good from start to finish
I want that gig. Go out drinking 😂😂😂😂
Not my style of music however I do like Just Can't Get Enough a lot.

Love the hits but "Clean" is my favorite song on Violator.

Such a hard band to rank
I'm sorry, did I hear right? You like In the Dead of Night but you don't like Freelove? mmmm
