Dale Earnhardt (1951-2001) Dick Trickle (1941-2013) Kenny Irwin Jr. (1969-2000) John Andretti (1963-2020) Bobby Hamilton (1957-2007) Alan Kulwicki (1954-1993) Davey Allison (1961-1993) David Pearson (1934-2018) Benny Parsons (1941-2007) Gone But Not Forgotten
The game that started an obsession for a sport that has led to a career in it. Thank you “Santa” for dropping off this off at my house on Christmas 1998 🇺🇸🏁
I remember playing this and the other 2 of EA Sports' original NASCAR Trilogy, '98 and 2000 for my Playstation back in the very early 2000s. And I remember how this and Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition were competing head to head. Yesterday I even bought some 90's NASCAR diecasts! Gotta love the censoring out Rusty Wallace's Miller Lite logos lol. The 90s was my favorite era of NASCAR, especially 95-99, with the supersmooth-bodied cars!
Liked the quotes from BP like "If he doesn't watch out, he is going to lose a tire". He also would say "This track's got the best food" at every track lol
I am more nostalgic for Nascar 98 and Nascar 99 because i grew up playing them. I do have Nascar Thunder 2004 and 2003 just haven’t play them in a while
So much nostalgia! My friends and brother damn near wore out our copies of this game and NASCAR ‘98! I even had a steering wheel controller! NASCAR was so much better and more exciting back then! I was obsessed with the sport and my favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Watched all the races on TV and even attended 2 in person. RIP Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons!
@8kloostb Yeah that was at Charlotte Coca-Cola 600. It figured out when exactly to switch the sky textures so it would seem like you were racin' all day even if you had it on the shortest race setting. Was like this for NASCAR 2000 too. I mean all the stuff they're capable of now, and I haven't seen day-night effects in that race since.
I learned how to count from this intro, but never realized how many numbers were missing in the middle. Took me years to realize 81 didnt come right before 90 and 99.
Slll the best intro in any Nascar game, although I always find it funny that they use footage of Dale winning the 1998 Daytona 500, since the track, due to licensed reasons (specifically due to the Daytona USA game), couldn't be in a Nascar game until Nascar Thunder 2002.
@malcolmyoungi No kidding. I was just listening to Thorogood on my iPod and Gear Jammer came up. I sat there thinking, I know that song from somewhere...
I loved and still do love NASCAR 99, particularly as I remember sitting on my grandpas lap watching him play till he gave me a turn 😊 I never got to see this intro, as we had the Nintendo 64 version of the game, but it is still cool nevertheless
This was me n my dads favorite game to play together of all time and always will i was 6 and we played day in day out and also he was a truck driver nicked named gear jammer lol but on those days dad was gone worken id hit that power button on the ps1 moma sure hated it hahaha gear jammer
there is a intro of Ea sports that goes something like: i get nou doubt. or like, lets all get down?? it was on the ps1 on the intro of a Fifa game around 2000-2002, can anyone please tell me how the song is called?
20 years later and it still kicks ass

George Thorogood - Gear Jammer
Best intro to a nascar game in history hands down.

I learned how to count from this intro, but never realized how many numbers were missing in the middle. Took me years to realize 81 didnt come right before 90 and 99.

EA Sports it's in the game
That track map at the very beginning is Charlotte!
Slll the best intro in any Nascar game, although I always find it funny that they use footage of Dale winning the 1998 Daytona 500, since the track, due to licensed reasons (specifically due to the Daytona USA game), couldn't be in a Nascar game until Nascar Thunder 2002.

@malcolmyoungi

I had totally forgotten this one. 98 for me was more memorable.
Played the shit out of this game growing up kinda cut my racing game teeth with Nascar 99. Shame all the drivers in this game are dead or retired now.
This was me n my dads favorite game to play together of all time and always will i was 6 and we played day in day out and also he was a truck driver nicked named gear jammer lol but on those days dad was gone worken id hit that power button on the ps1 moma sure hated it hahaha gear jammer
