I have been loving cinema and consider myself a filmophile. Since 1960-ish. Avid collector through multible media. Former film librarian and projectionist. This is an outstanding film.
Death is just an Angel of transition. I loved the 80's and 90's, seeing the world that it is today and it's decline i can't wait to see Death. Gen Xers held it down for the future kids who doesn't have a clue. They don't believe things can be done. Im through trying to show yhem what they think is impossible, they don't want to even try. Now Ai will have to babysit them.

I thought this movie was great. I liked everything about it.
I saw a few bad reviews and I'm wondering why? Not enough car crashes? Lack of loud offensive "music"? No fights?
It kinda requires thinking from the viewers, and that's considered bad cinema.

Tim Johnson - I agree- not enough car crashes, etc! And this scene here is a good example- loooong shots of silence- just reactions. They’re generally very well acted, but with no verbiage, and I think many people don’t have patience for that any more - this is an “mtv society” where people want just fast- moving flashes of things!
(- Although even I, who loves a good long movie, thought that a few of the pauses were a bit TOO long, and could’ve been cut by a few seconds and still captured the emotion well). I can also see where they may not have liked Brad Pitts portrayal of death - he was absolutely perfect as the young charming man coming to town, but acted the part of death strangely at times. I don’t know if those choices were made by Brad or by the director. But the critics might’ve been reacting to that. … Still, All of the other acting was so excellent that I can enjoy this movie over and over, and just love it!!

Under rated movie I liked a lot. Sorry, but the original music track is more emotionally responsive while yours became a little repetitive & tedious.

Lets get this straight. Claire and Brad wander back to the party, and dead Tony is left to rot somewhere in the park. What child would willingly leave the blue corpse of her father, without any investigation? Also, since Brad was the last one to see Tony alive, the police will want to talk to him. This party is about to turn into a crime scene, and Brad is probably going to need a lawyer.
Great comment. I wonder if this,"Joe Black" has any bruises from being tossed head over heels by the cars in NYC? This is Hollywood. We just want the Real Joe Black to end up with the shy NYC Surgeon from the coffee shop, which was also a great scene. The Grim Reaper Joe Black finally realizes he can't compete with the oration of Anthony Hopkins and will sadly return to his place of speaking jive to the Jamaican woman passing away in Claires hospital. Also an entertaining scene. Very entertaining movie. Watched it many times.
All of that is cold reality, but that’s not what we watch movies for!! Movies are a great way to escape cold reality!! Let’s think of Brad and Claire walking off into the sunset, “ lightning striking,” as her father wanted for her! Her father was going to Heaven, his body would be recovered and put into a beautiful coffin and there would be a funeral fit for a King - just like the birthday party! And all would honor him, and give him a great sendoff!! And he would be joyfully reunited with the love of HIS life- Susan’s mom!! Claire and Brad‘s characters would live happily ever after with “lightning striking” for the rest of their happy lives!! And her sister and brother-in-law would run the family business, and it would thrive!! 🎆🌈🔥
