Oh, hmm, what's this youtube video?
...Aaand I'm spending 5 grand on a modular.
That’s how that works lol. (it’s happened to us all). 😅
It's been 3 years, hope you're ok.
@@reedtrygd4277 Just thought the same.
Five doobies later at 14:13
Also, please stop making me want new gear, I'm already broke. Your dulcet tones and enthusiasm are infectious.
The synth is amazing but it’s your skills that make this. I want this video on vinyl!
We can watch your demos over and over. And in fact we finally bought the Atlantis highly influenced by your awesome demo. Damn we love the “Meows” ❤️
nice, enjoy it!! 🙌
After hearing your recent podcast with Danjel van Tijn I knew I was going to be super interested in this module and the metropolis, but holy shit dude, this is way more awesome than I could have dreamed of.
Finally got one of these today second hand. I could sell all my other modules easily and keep this and never look back, it's that good.
Mine arrives today. I shouldn't have waited so long!
loved that whaling sound in the beginning
16:26 to 17:53 was the best moment by far. Beautiful sounds.
GORGEOUS review....i absolutely adore the history lesson.
Is your case made of cardboard?
+mootbooxle Yes, it is.
Spend the money on the modules, not the case.
@@mylarmelodies boss
The Atlantis is my favorite module right now. :)
Secretly I'm still hoping it's AFX giving us these demos...
That's what I'm fucking talking about
I love this video 😁
This video will be responsible for countless units being sold!
16:24 I WANT THIS ON VINYL SO HARD!!!!!!!
18:52 Aphex Twin - Xtal (Alternative version) CONFIRMED
What about 9:13
reminds me of acid tekno days..
I love your channel
You had me at 0:05, but that wasn't enough for you, no sir. You just had to knock me into another dimension at 16:23. Purchased.
Self isolation just got a bit more IDM 👍
Real nice :) Sort of shame they didn't put a glide/porta on the Atlantis (glide coming from the sequencer in this demo), but a proper slew-limiter will give more options anyway. I'm planning a super-powerful 84hp monosynth using the Atlantis as a core...
Done and paid for, coming in a few days time .. Gotta say that melody at the end of the video is fking super-ace :D
18:40 ... hauntingly good
your music is fucking wicked btw
+ThisIsDownstate You're fucking wicked btw
Is that a cardboard box cabinet @7:30? I'm not hating, I solve a lot of problems with cardboard and duct-tape, it's good to see a kindred spirit! Great Demo too!
Oh yes. ua-cam.com/video/mf0Z34LJ8Y8/v-deo.html
Do you think you would remember what the patch was at 16:24? It sounds quite lovely.
+Alex Guillén It's all there on the panel! :) No external modules - You can see it's a dual VCO with the second saw into the Ext Input. Sequenced by Metropolis and all going through Eventide Space.
Analog modular synth is not about being productive.
It is about being unproductive.
Unproductivity is not a means; it is an end.
Ryan Jensen a statement of unbridled nonsense. Giddy-up!
Analogue modular is about buying more and more modules until you are bankrupt and your wife leaves you
this is true of all music... every girl i bring over looks at my 4 guitar amps, 5 guitars, piles of pedals, and stack of keyboards and drum machines and has the same thoughts.
You are my favorite channel if it comes to modular.. but please practice your singing :p i got the same feeling to humm along but autotune won't hurt here ;) ( time: 18:40 )
Awesome module, awesome demo! May I ask how you patched it on the intro?
you said '12 pole and 24 pole'. You meant '12 db/octave (2 pole) and 24 db/octave (4 pole filter)'. Each 'pole' is 6 db/octave.
A 'pole' is a set of parameters in an z-transform equation called a 'transfer function' where the gain of the transfer function would be infinite.
Peace
+Paul Sop 6:31
yezz :)
$@#! I now ended up with atlantis, metropolis and a disting in the middle of my hek. system complete :).. er, ohh one last tiny tid bit, have you used the "normaling" ribbon cable for the metropolis and atlantis? that 6 pin thing? if so, or not please tell and tell us more about it's "normalizationizings" :)
MrCowfood it's a 6 pin header. on the underside of the metropolis and atlantis meant to be used as a way to send sync cv/gate without patch cables...
hi there - thanks for this - great vid - what reverb are you using in the section around 17 minutes?
+Akashamitra Eventide Space!
+mylarmelodies fantastic - thank you - and are you using a separate sequencer? Sorry for all the questions!
+Akashamitra Yep: 7:01
what are you using for the drum sequence? sounds really awesome haha
Tiptop Trigger Riot for sequencing, Tiptop 808's for Drums
mylarmelodies what about that nice saturated distortion the drums have on them? love that sound
Well as a BoC junky, that patch at 16:23 is total synth porn to me. I'd love to hear what you've got going on under the hood and what delay you're running through.
Sam Johnson Ta, same - That's just it running through an Eventide Space pedal. You'll like this one too: soundcloud.com/mylarmelodies/the-intellijel-atlantiss
I'm looking at this and the SE Tonestar 8106. Do you have any experience with the 8106, and how do they compare?
Only very very very briefly - SE stuff is generally brilliant in my experience, I'm sure it's good - though it's a totally different thing to this!
They both sound incredible. Tough choice! Thank you for answering so quickly, love your videos!
At 16:30, is all of that sound coming entirely from the Atlantis? This is the kind of sound I want to replicate, but want to know the best machine for this
Yep it’s just Atlantis and reverb from an Eventide space. It does use the looping envelopes but the sound is just the sound! Any classic Roland like a SH101 should be able to get close. Good Reverb matters too of course
@@mylarmelodies Thank you for the reply and the great video. Cheers
So juicy!
Is that echo at 18:00 coming from the Valhalla? You've sold me on the Atlantis you swine ;)
DiscoticUK That's from the Expert Sleepers Disting! I think.
Would you recommend the disting? Also I think you should know that I hadn't even looked at any Intellijel modules until this morning. After watching your video I'm now the proud owner of an Atlantis and a Metropolis! They should pay you commission.
Respect!! As as for Disting, I'll leave this here: ua-cam.com/video/3IJsGzld788/v-deo.html :)
Congrats on giving the best demo for any piece of audio equipment I've ever seen.
Awesome module, awesome demo! May I ask how you patched it on the intro?
I know this video is super old, but I’ve watched it like 10 times recently and it sold me on the Atlantis! Love all your work, sir!
Thanks m8!!
same : )
Same!
@@bcroson82 The Metropatlantis combo is still killer!
@@mylarmelodies got both sitting in my rack, thanks to your vids. Do you have a sweetwater or perfect circuit affiliate link? Next up is a matriarch and might as well help a brother out!
STOP making me BUY STUFF. Already bought the Metropolis because of you - not that I've regretted that for even a second.
djophidianofficial WERD!!! Thank god I already had an Atlantis before watching this video. But yeah, he made me buy my Metropolis. :-P
+djophidianofficial Yeah, I became a total Intellijel nerd after these videos :D
Yes stop that Mylar,i MUST buy an Atlantis and Metropolis......i MUST!!!
ahaha!
DEf having the same problem. This equipment is so damn fun.
... that is what i'm fucking talking about ....
First note instantly reminded me of ''Stone in focus'' by Aphex Twin.
Every now and then I come back to this video just for that intro.
Man, that segment from 16:30 ish to 17:50 ish is just magical. I noticed a seller in the Netherlands who is selling both the Atlantis and Metropolis in a skiff, with a TipTop power module as a kind of full unit. Damn good idea. Come back the Shoom!
I cant get over the opening sound/chords. brilliant!
is it me or sounds like an aphex track?
Rhubarb
Amazing
Well, that's the best demo of an Intellijel module yet, I'd say, and perhaps the best demo I've ever heard/seen, period. If we can't sell a few more of these little bastards because of this vid, then something is definitely wrong with the world.
Haha, props for your stellar work on it! x
mylarmelodies Thanks, man! This one was a real team effort, and I think it's the best thing we've done.
i'm buying one tomorrow because i saw this video a while ago and it really stuck with me
I'm strongly aligned with you sir. So much of the versatility of the Atlantis and modular comes through in this humble video. I only wish I had the cash to scrape together. #GOALS #SYNTHS #INTELLIJEL
Man I´m 3000 euros deep because I watched his Metropolis video years ago when I had already decided I will never get into eurorack because it is too expensive and complicated #Eurocrack
Not seen this for years, just came back to it to hear the riff at 14 mins. So good!
This is, by far, the best synth review I've seen on UA-cam yet. You've got a new loyal viewer, and you very well might have sold me on Eurorack. If I get addicted to new hardware, I'm blaming you!
nobel 11 Haha!! No regrets, you'll have fun... x
I love your music. When you put a little complexity into your melodies (shifting roots or whatever on the Metropolis) I could listen to those passages for ages.
I think this video is the reason why i'm gonna start to build myself a Eurorack system.
This is a wonderful demo, and perhaps the only demo that I've come back to many times because it's such a pleasure to watch. Great delivery, detail, passion and, additionally, I love the cardboard rack. Fantastic.
I come back to this just to listen to the music hahaha
The ambient soundscape from 16:23 - 17:53 was beautiful!
What kind of reverb was used on this (Strymon Big Sky, Valhalla... )?
+synth4ever Eventide Space!
+synth4ever agreed, it's so beautiful
+mylarmelodies Awesome... what kind of recording interface are you using? It sounds so clean. :)
UA Apollo!
Four years later and it's still the best demo I've ever seen. 13:50 is just balls!
I often come here since years for that fucking incredible moment too ! 🤣🤩😍
Nice to hear somebody getting soul out of a eurorack, I'm definitely selling everything i own to obtain one.
Did you actually sell everything to get it? I´m about to sell a family heirloom to get mine... Cheers mate.
@@JX-jk9qn Haha actually no, not an Alantis not even a eurorack, talked myself out of it, I sold my entire collection of vinyl & had the money & almost spent it on eurorack but talked myself out of it again, it will eventually happen though but a smaller system for a specific task.
yer a CRACKUP M8
I sometimes feel like selling my Atlantis to get a new synth voice but with separate modules, now that I know more about modular than back when I started... But then I rewatch this video and I'm in love again like the first day I saw it. Sorry for doubting you Atlantis...
holy balls - totally misjudged the Atlantis. Nicely done!!!
jamescigler You were down on it?!?! one of the greatest, no doubt.
mylarmelodies I was always like "voice in a module, meh" without actually listening to it :/
jamescigler ha, and that...is why you fail. :3
The Atlantis is definitely one of my favorite modules, and this demonstration is really, really good.
“That’s what I’m fucking talking about”
"That is what I'm F****** talking about" is right!!!
Great video. The Metropolis ones were great also.
Thanks for taking the time to make these.
Love that squarepusher interview. Dope demo as well, as usual sir
When he plays that bassline in isolation off his reel to reel, that slays me
i love that squarepusher vid, so good to see it in this review. when he plays that bassline in isolation dude.. just insane haha i had to rewatch it so many times lol
This is the worst channel ever for someone in love with modular.. (i'm kidding and that's a sarcastic compliment)
I've always loved modular possibility but you're re-igniting that interest with a vengeance.
Cool channel. Keep up the tweaking. ♪♫♪♪ + Subbed ;)
This is by far, my favorite video to rewatch.
edit: 2019
Yeah I know a lot comes from the delay/verb and sequencing, but man, you should get commission from intellijel. also a presentation that resonates musically with the sounds i like, not just blip bloop and that´s it. may not be my next module but definitely made it to the short list.
Great job showcasing this! It really started to shine with the drums along side. Seems like a very inspiring module.
Very nice demo! I have these two and sharp filter and the fm on the filter are a lot of fun!
you do the such GREAT demos!
Love my Atlantis, always come back to this video!
this channel is so good holy shit
I come back just to listen to the intro music
That sound you got going on around 14:00 -- Damn. Yes. Very yes.
Those vocals at 18:50 sound thom yorkey
+no I've got the Thom Yorke module installed into my face
+mylarmelodies sounds cool for sure. curious what did you put your voice thru? the eventide space?
Nah for that it's likely to be Valhalla Room
14:10 lol.
How come we may only like once ? :-D
Btw what effects unit are you using for reverb at 16:25? Sheer beauty 💜
Your videos are the best modular demos on UA-cam! Thanks for making them.
great fucking review!
you get a like and follow just for the metropolis cutaway...
i'm sold.. they owe you one. in this case likely 2.
Very nice Demo..i'm thinking of getting one...Sure is expensive these Modules....
LOL @13:52-- my thoughts exactly! After seeing this, I really want to own an Atlantis/Metropolis combo someday.
Honestly you should upload the musical portion of this to bandcamp.
The SH-101 was also instrumental for early EBM and electro industrial, and synthpop. Just great for powerful bass lines.
You made me get this and a beatstep pro right on pay day. Thanks for completely decimating my bank account and continuing my downward spiral into eurocrack with your hypnotisingly addictive demos. I hope you're happy!
;)
My favorite part: "You might think it's slightly lame that it's all in one panel, but you would be WRONG sir" INDEED
I started with many modules, now I’m going finish my cases with Atlantis. It’s way too essential sounding to not have it. Great demonstration!
Hello there Mr Mylar ☺ As usual greaat demo! ❤
Can i ask wich mic ur using and whats in the process chain?
Thank you up front for your time ✌
Kind regards 😁
I've tried several SH-101 emulation plugins and none of them come even close. What is it about this synth with it's wicked sound??
This video is excellent. It drives me crazy when I go to see/hear just_one__module_ and the guy is playing with 50 other modules triggering it.
Best synth demo. I swear, and I've seen my share!
You are the Mad Professor of Cool.
I've got something in my studio that has fatness.. and meow too. The only problem is.. she throws up on the white carpeting when she hucks up a furball. >}
Literally biting my nails and rubbing my fingers past the screen.
Its like heroin watching these videos, I will end up buying this if I dont stop watching but watching it is sooooo goooood /drool/
14:26 ..goosebumps ... drexciya style electro! my head is going banana's!
Love your videos. Just getting into modular synths and the metropolis is going to be my first major buy.......looks like the atlantis may be next......
You are good man with your stuff. Love your excitement, wish we where neighbours
I don't know how you sold me on a module I already own... but you did it. I learned something new though- I don't know why I never thought to patch the Mod as another oscillator.
Great jams, man! The Metro + Atlantis combo is a winner, without a doubt.
Thanks!! It occurs to me you might be able to hack the env into a _tunable_ osc by chucking a square wave into the trig input (with it set to super short rate) too
oh yeah! thanks to this video I decided to go for it, it pairs so well with Metropolis! great videos!
🤣 busting out phat shit from a cardboard box! Love it.
Why aren’t you sponsored by any synth companies you would defiantly boost there sales
It's a good day when there's a new Mylarmelodies video. Cheers!
