Good to see you look so much happier on this trip than the Scotland adventure. As much as I enjoy solo backpacking, it's also very nice when someone joins. Looked like a fun trip.
Beautiful, fun video. Your mix of detail shots, candid pics of each of you, and scenery is a lesson for videographers. Thanks for making these. Watching this makes me want to hike in the rain, but I’d prefer a dry bed at night.
I love all the smiles and laughter despite the rain and delay. When I visited last year, my friends and I had the perfect camp site too. 😊 this year our north got cancelled due to dock issues (right after your trip!) so we are headed to south this weekend. Your video was fun to watch!
Yes, having someone to laugh with in the rain made it so much better! I’ll look forward to seeing how your time on South goes. That was one of our backup ideas if the ferry wasn’t running also
We love Sleeping Bear dunes but have never been out to the Islands. We have definitely experienced the Michigan Black Fly season though, and it's awful. Thanks for taking us along!
Great video, beautifully shot and edited. We are long time NMI campers, and loved seeing your take on the trip. You were both super cheerful considering the rain!
Despite the small glitch, glad this trip ended better than Scotland! I've only seen it from shore, but I bet you would enjoy Bois Blanc island in Lake Huron near Mackinaw. Sounds almost all rural and lots of hiking.
I think we were the only trip that went out this summer. They cancelled all of the ferry trips prior to ours, and we weren’t even sure if ours would go out or be cancelled until two days beforehand. Then they had troubles picking us up from the island… and I think they decided to cancel the rest. Heard south is great also!
there are certainly worse things than getting stuck on North Manitou. would be a great excuse to get off work also, that sandwich at the end look bomb as fuck. few meals go harder than a post-backpacking meal
So very true! We were a little sad to miss out on seeing sleeping bear dunes for the first time and having a campfire (and s’mores), but otherwise being stuck there was not at all bad! Sandwich was 11/10. So good!

Yes, it was so much fun to hike with a friend this time around!

Thank you so much!! I’m usually one to say I love the rain, much more than the sun, but this may have been a little bit too much for me 😅
Nice job! And thanks for taking my daughter with you! Looks like you gals had a fun trip!
She was the best backpacking partner!

I need to make it back to visit the main part of Sleeping Bear Dunes! We missed out because of the ferry cancellation

Thank you! We tried our best to make the most of it 😊
I was on the island the same time as you, it rained a lot and the flies were insane. And also crazy we had to wait another night.
Yes, it was such a wild weekend, yet still a great time!

Me too! Definitely helps to have a friend by your side. I’ll have to add Bois Blanc Island to my list of places to see!
Beautiful video!
Thank you!
Thanks so much for taking us Up North with you two! But the question is - did you find any Petoskey Stones?
Thank you for following along ☺️ I had to google what those were, but now that I know, I hope I do find one someday!
Wait I'm so confused! I thought the ferry wasn't going out there this summer?? I'm jealous! I settled for South.
