After watching one episode I googled "Is wife swap fake" and got a couple articles about a woman who was on the show and she says "They took me out of context and made me out as someone who treated children like dogs" and I said to myself "Damn, I would've preferred if it was just fully scripted"
It's normally one of the two. Fully scripted or slightly scripted but cut and edited for maximum drama
That reminds me of tlc accept tlc doesnt choose sepecific clips out of context, they just manually edit full scenes, you can literally watch some tlc videos where its gone so far that you can literally hear on the audio words from an entirely different sentence, like I dont think tlc just managed to find a bunch of people with the problem of having a stop start and ramblish speech style- and if they did thats amazing, otherwise Im ps they are edited in that way, people who have been on that show literalyl admit it and say they have said entirely different things-
While not related to the show, one of the families fell apart in 2017 after their second youngest son murdered his mom and younger brother; supposedly because of the tight hold their parents kept over them. The events on TV might’ve been scripted, but the abuse was very much real.

Omg this show is also on romanian Tv and the very smart thing they do, they swap wives from very different households. For example one that lives in the city, classic princess who doesn't know how to cook and the other one living in a farm taking care of animals. It's so stupid it's entertaining.

The fact that you two (and the majority of people in the comments) have no idea what Wife Swap was, makes me feel sssssooooo old. It went on for years and was a massive success. Not every episode is like this one, thank goodness! 😂 A lot of the time, positives came out of it. Usually both families learnt things about themselves. I worked with someone who went on Wife Swap and her life changed for the better.
