Dorset my old home! We lived in an ancient thatched cottage. It had two very large fireplaces in the drawing room and to my horror in autumn big spiders used to come through the chimney. When my husband was in camp I got the neighbour to remove it! 😱😂

I love old English cottages. So ethereally pretty! I’ve tried to make my American home, English style (I’m from U.K.) but it looks so cluttered as my family have stated many times! These cottages are so charming inside and out.There’s definitely an art to decorate a cozy cottages. Loved the gluten free food, an amazing business . I really enjoyed this video. So much to love about England, but what I admire most of all is how they have managed to preserve their old buildings and houses. We can only dream of ever coming across something this old here in Malaysia. She has truly made this place her own whilst maintaining the old character of the house. I can answer the thatched roof question actually! My grandad used to know how to thatch (very rare trade knowledge now) I believe every 8 years it has to be stripped to the first base layer of the last worker and then re thatched what is interesting the first base layer is kept I believe so you have one layer every 8 years that is kept from every thatcher who has done the roof! But onto of the base layer of thatch there are then several layers of thatch (which is usually woven together by the thatcher) that creates a water proofing for the house!

Hi Emma I love your cottage it’s so full of charm. I was keen to see more of your coffee table as I have some old elm beams from a demolished old barn. I’ve been thinking what to use them for and a large rustic coffee table would fit the bill. The base style was going to be the problem and what I saw of yours could be the way to go. I don’t suppose you have a photo you could share? @Auntie7024 We both were! We always enjoy my dad’s dog Lotta when we visit but right now it wouldn’t be fair on an animal with us travelling so much plus with Brexit it has become so much harder to travel to Germany with animals.

Oh how lucky we are to get to meet Emma and see her family’s cottage. Hard to imagine it is from the 15th century! What a treat to have such a lovely tour and get to meet her. Wonderful, delicious, historical, creative and charming!! I was so wanting to try some of the brown sugar oat treats at the end!! The quirky features in their lovely home so fun to see.. those cupboard doors! Pretty soft pinks and greens and then a pop of bright color here and there.. the entire video was so much fun.. we watched it twice.. animals too!! Hi...another amazing video, I like it very much, finally can enter the cottage and see what inside...their decoration just simple and yet so lovely & cosy....
Beautiful historic house, but my son would struggle with the ceilings, he's six foot four, plus it's quite dark, but when you think how old it is, it's wonderful it's still standing, thanks Kirsten and Joerge, enjoyed this very much.
The ceilings were actually higher than in a regular cottage because it used to be a hall house - Joerg is quite tall too and it was absolutely fine.
Just very pretty..how nice to live in that cottage .🤗and delightful gf goodies too.

Hi Emma I love your cottage it’s so full of charm. I was keen to see more of your coffee table as I have some old elm beams from a demolished old barn. I’ve been thinking what to use them for and a large rustic coffee table would fit the bill. The base style was going to be the problem and what I saw of yours could be the way to go. I don’t suppose you have a photo you could share? These kind of videos showing beautiful period cottages are where i find a lot of my inspiration , well done Kirsten & Joerg for all your hard work in creating these amazing videos. 👍

@Auntie7024 We both were! We always enjoy my dad’s dog Lotta when we visit but right now it wouldn’t be fair on an animal with us travelling so much plus with Brexit it has become so much harder to travel to Germany with animals.

I absolutely love this video. Emma and her menagerie of rescued pups, donkeys, kitties , etc. and her beautiful 1500’s era cottage and bakery are so awesome. Oh how lucky we are to get to meet Emma and see her family’s cottage. Hard to imagine it is from the 15th century! What a treat to have such a lovely tour and get to meet her. I loved Oboe and she has a such a pretty kitty too. What a wonderful business she has created and it is so heartening to hear how conscientious she is about food waste and helping out her community. I totally see the 'coup de foudre' feeling that she discribes and I love the colorful and quirky objects and details throughout the cottage (like the pompons on the lampshade, the cute titles in the bathroom and the ornate little mirror above them).
