- Listen, I know how disappointing it can be for my beautiful subscribers who cannot join memberships to have the feeling of missing out on my content.
I know, and I am sorry truly. But the fact is this - more content equals more work and more money.
And while to some extent this CHALK is a hobby i enjoy, at some point I cannot bear the cost alone. It costs money to search for new textures. It costs money to develop new mixes. It costs money to set up my studio. Above all, it costs time and energy. And some may wonder, but UPJ, you have 500k+ subs and thousands of daily views. Surely you make enough money to cover all this. The answer is BARELY. hehe. If I was smart and didnt spent so much on my hearts desires then maybe what I made from youtube could be enough (I am not monetised on Instagram or Tiktok sadly).
But if I was ONLY money conscious and created only according to youtube budget then I would not be happy! I would not be able to try all the new chalks, and dyes and topping and mixes I want. If I have to keep doing this activity then I have two conditions. First, it always has to be FUN - enjoyment is non negotiable (hehe), and second, it has to make financial sense to me. And that is common sense. Never do anything, not matter how fun it is, if it is taking money out of your pocket.
But believe it or not, money is not the only reason for this decision. The other reason is COMMUNITY. Listen there are facts we have to live with and one fact is that in the beginning, with fewer subscribers there was more of a peaceful community vibe. But now the comments section here and for most creators is TOXIC. Sorry to say but this is a fact. I do not know if it is the newbies, or who is is doing this level of trolling but I cannot connect with you all when everyday there is some toxicity.
Like, a whole GIN was driven away by unkind people. Timestampers trying to live their best lives are constantly abused. What is the meaning of all this? So this is a chance to have a community in peace. Who ever is willing to pay to access more of me is likely to do this because they truly want to connect with me and the rest of the community. AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT level of connection and peace with some of you.
Now I know that a lot of you are students and are not able to pay for anything for the moment. And to you i say, I LOVE YOU, NO PRESSURE, AND DO NOT WORRY. I will still connect with you in my daily posts. God willing, whenever you can, join us in the memberships for a deeper connection.
I cannot wait to see my darling members this Friday at 5pm Swiss time for a LIVE TOUR of my studio. As I am writing now I am frantically cleaning and clearing the space to get it decent for our live (and this costs money, case in point).

Lengthy, and I do mean lengthy comment incoming.....
As you may well know, it was in the year 365 BC when I chiseled my first comment on the stone tablet of YT under a exceptional crush, but an even more exceptional description from UPJ. The person who had curated the gorgeous crush had penned this engaging, warm, authentic description that drew me in and gave me the courage really, to actually express my thoughts, opinions and gratitude for her and eventually many more creators within the community. And what a place of positivity I had stumbled into! Having commentors say they enjoyed my musings or had learnt a new word, or ask how they could write like me...I was gobsmacked that ANYONE, other than the artist, I had hoped, would even take the time to read what I had written. These crushes, these experiences, this community had become a pocket of Peace.
But things have changed...slowly, subtley at first, but soon there was overt criticism, demands rather than requests, insidious remarks in response to certain commentors and soon, as you stated, there was the stench of toxicity in the air. _(This has been my experience across multiple channels, not just here per se)_
I had some barbs directed at me *(I mean we do know how much I Iove a flowery turn of phrase, or a grandiose line of prose, to be fair 🙃)* and although I brushed it off and went on my merry commenting way, it niggled at me, more and more so as I observed others, watchers and creators, be subjected to the same fate.

"Who even talks like this"
"You are a lazy crusher"
"You sound like your comments are AI generated"
"Do you not have a life?"
"You do the same crush over and over"
"Mass BSN crush!“
“You will have more followers if you: post more, do full block crushes, crush fresh chalk, post twice every day, answer your subscribers, their views pay you, crush like ______ insert creator name" (you can take your pick of the afore mentioned)
And for a brief moment, I stepped back from commenting as prolificly and even not commenting much like _myself_ in my turn of phrase... I made myself small and mainstream and quite frankly, bland in my writing. My pockets of Peace had been breached....
But I gave myself a good talking too (I was stern too!) fixed my pearls I had been anxiously clutching and decided to focus on the one thing I can control and that is the depth of joy I find here, the authenticity of my writing and the serenity I experience in *MY* ASMR Chalk experiences.
So the next time any of you, question your place here or the amount of "space" you inhabit in this community, think on this:

This gives off the similar vibes of when ASMR Familia did her $1 challenge and people attacked her for it, calling her broke, selfish and taking advantage of her subscribers. It really shows how some in the ASMR community think they are entitled to a creator's time and efforts.
I’m compelled to reply. I have been a longtime subscriber, way before 10k. It’s ok if you don’t know me but I adore you. I won’t be joining the membership but it’s my choice. She hasn’t said she will stop posting non membership videos so some ppl need to chill. I wholeheartedly agree with you about monetization and finding peace because I too am just about sick of the negativity. I’ve always read the comments because I liked how others expressed the same joy and peace I feel while watching the video but I have to stop nowadays before I say something crazy due to such negative comments. I'm a student & obviously I cannot pay for memberships but i donot at all think that her doing paid membership programs & earning (barely) from it is wrong!!! Eveyone is investing on yt to earn from it and not to loose money, but here asmrists are spending huge amounts of money for our satisfaction and yt revenues are practically too low to support this hobby! Imagine yourself in her place!! Would you ever spend money on something knowing the fact that you will barely earn( i am leaving the profit part) from it?? Hello, well ima newbie and stumbled upon your channel while I was 20 something odd weeks pregnant, I am now 37 weeks as of yesterday! It has brought me so much peace, and comfort for whatever odd reason. Not only did I grow to learn how to distinguish the difference between chalks. I continually returned to this channel day by day to read those special notes in the description box. I grew to love it here (silently) for the most part. I completely agree with your comments. My heartbroke for jeepgirl recently a she posted a pride crush and some of the comments were hateful and homophobic. I dont understand as asmr artists post crushes that many different people watch and may not celebrate or be included within but you just comment about the crush not the reason for the crush if it doesnt apply. Such as christmas, eid , easter, asmr to me has been about inclusion and peace and recently it feels certain viewers just want to troll, argue to exclude viewers or asmr channels. I've been watching asmr since 2017 when I became chronically ill and homebound and it's been a godsend for me. Sadly yes I've seen the community change so much 😢 So many wonderful creators have come and gone and some even passed away 💔 Some wonderful commentors too💔. I really enjoyed seeing pineapple pizza everywhere and many others and now Gin is gone too. We even had a major public fued with some of the top creators that almost made me stop watching. It was like the asmr daytime soap operas. 🤦🏽♀️ And now the constant negativity in the comments wow...I've never seen it this bad before. I just don't understand 💔 Supplies cost money. Time is money. Twitch has had a tiered “membership” (aka subscriber) since the mid 2010s. Now every social media platform is doing it. No one is forcing anyone to do anything.
I don't understand how people can be so negative instantly. They don't even take the time to consider things before becoming negative. If anyone wants to make money through memberships, what's the problem with that? How can someone be selfish if they're trying to make some money? Angela, you're not being selfish for thinking about making money. It's people's job to spread negativity. You've already done so much for us for free, and you're not saying there will be no videos for non-members. You're still providing us with daily uploads.

Well I just saw someone in chalk it asmr comments and they said gin in doing well, and she is taking iron supplements. I think they said she will be back but the toxicity is just too much.

You should explore more ways to connect with members so more could join like doing members only live, members exclusive crushes (that won't be posted on your regular channel later because what's the point of making it members exclusive if others are gonna see at a later date), video requests (within limits?)
