A complete strut assembly was definitely the way to go on this one. Nice job!
There was about a $10 difference between the strut alone vs the complete assembly 😂
Also make sure to put the load back on the strut, before proceeding to torque the mounting nuts down to spec. This will prevent premature wear. Great vid man!
Thank you for the video. Ill be doing mine this weekend and have never done struts before.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video cause without you I would've had to the shop 350 per strut.
Thanks for the video. Thanks for the still, clear video shots. Thanks for mentioning wrench sizes and torques.
Great video! Helped me do mine on a 2006 Malibu. I didn't have any impact gun, so i did it the old fashioned way; cussing an fighting all the way! 🤣🤣
Very well explained....I'll do the work tomorrow. Hope is as easy as you did it!😂 Thank u!
Excellent video, I use to write work instructions for a manufacturing plant to be used by the assemblers and repair people, you did a great job!
Excellent.
Nice video man easy step by step instructions good job man, I have a 2005 3.5 Lt engine 218 horse light vehicle great gas mileage 234.000 miles never changed out the struts hearing clicking sounds and clicking from i think from the axles left side going to have to change them out also😔 but any how thanks again for the video man yes appreciate that👍
Make sure to replace the stabilizer links if they're old and worn out also
@@themechanic6117 I had them replaced already rubber bushings were worn-out thank you for the reply back 👍 appreciate that😉
You and I work quite simular. Like to see the pros use the mighty cordless Milwaukee 1 /2" impact . So much easier. Well done buddy.
rusco321 Hum that's an odd question HAHA - absolutely not Eric is a great friend and one of my favourite auto channels , why do you ask .
STEVE ROB REVIEWS Haven't seen you posting on his videos lately or in his live streams.
rusco321 Oh ok well I do watch his vids but don't comment much since he has so many comments , I just don't add to the pile . He's a busy guy with a huge following . Ok you say hi to him for me and see what he says. LOL
Thank you to take the time to explain everything step by step ,good video
Just did this job yesterday, IMPORTANT tip, the 3 studs ARE NOT equally spaced, 2 only measure "4 center to center while it's "4.5 inches the other way, BE SURE you have it oriented correctly or else they won't line up, you'll get the one in and secure it only to find out you need to drop it down and start over. The instructions from Monroe do not mention this nor does any strut video on you-tube for the Malibu.
It's not mentioned anywhere because the 3 studs not being evenly spaced is so that it can only go on one way .
@@themechanic6117 oh, it would have been nice for Monroe to put an arrow pointing into the engine, I get the feeling I'm not the only one who's made this mistake, at any rate they are installed now.
Do you have to have the front end realigned after putting on new struts? And a great video!!!
I recommend getting the alignment checked at a shop. Thank you for watching
Chingooonaa the explanation 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Hola de que marca de amortiguadores me recomiendas para mi malibu 2011 ya sea en Amazon..todo el amortiguador completo resorte y base.😊
Most aftermarket GM sway bar links you have to build them from a kit which includes grommets and washers.
Hey man would it be necessary to also get a wheel alignment after installation?
Does it need the wheels to be realinged after replacing the struts?
Most times no . But if the steering wheel is no longer straight then take it for a wheel alignment
Its a splined bolt so you dont have to hold it with a wrench just saying and the stablizer like just use vicegrips if it stock
great video bro so not one sees the emoji that says it's deeeez nuts ha got emmm
Does the Malibu suspension require an alignment after replacing the front struts?
Its recommended to check the alignment after that jobbut you'll know if the alignment is off once you drive it
How long do it takes to remove and replace back shocks on this Malibu
Could take a few hours depending on experience and what tools you have
needs alignment after this ???
I'd recommend a wheel alignment but if the car drives straight and the steering wheel is straight...
@@themechanic6117 well my car is pulling to the left when im driving do you think is a camber problem??
@@themechanic6117 lol did but they want to replace it all suspension but is just pulling a little be i saw when they diagnostic and they didn't testing my shocks they just assume i need to replaced everything to do the alignment.....
Yeah alignment shops won't do an alignment if work needs to be done to the car
I would not put a jack stand on a sloped surface, there’s a chance of sliding.
It's not a servere slope. I wasn't worried about it . Especially when I let this end sit lower than the ride height of the car . Yes,safety first though. 👍
The mech a nic Also, you could leave the jack semi in place as a secondary safety measure.
I get to do all of this to my wife’s ‘05 Maxx so thank you for sharing
