    This is a great technique for flaky dough! I'm going to try them on my empanadas. Question: can these be baked instead of fried?

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому +1

      They can! But the texture won't be as light and flaky as the deep fried variety. They will be more like a hand pie texture or pasty. Still good though! 😍

    I really want to try this!! Can you freeze the curry puffs before the frying stage to fry another time?

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, you can! I froze half of mine 😊 and when I fried them later, they were still perfectly crunchy

    Hi there, I would like to know if I can prepare doughs ahead? Can I store doughs in fridge or freezer? Tq

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, it's best to freeze the curry puffs after filling and crimping. You can try freezing the dough but I'm not sure how it will thaw and work with after. It should be okay though. Do let me know if you try it!

    Hi, may I know whether adding oil to the water dough makes it softer?

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, adding a little more water will make it softer, but the dough will be a bit harder to work with. I'm not too sure about adding oil, but give it a go and let me know how it turns out!

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому

      You can! But the layers won't be as flaky and crispy. They will come out more like hand pies or a Cornish pasty. Still good though! 😍

    • @TheKampungVegan

      Yes, they can be. Brush with a bit of oil before you do. They won't be as crispy, and will be more like pie. But still nice 😊

    I tried following but my curry taste bitter. I am thinking maybe it is my curry powder? Or is it because I used white onion instead of purple? I put 6 tbsp curry powder and used large 6 potatoes, 6 onions

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому

      Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! You're right, it might be the curry powder. What brand did you use?

      @@TheKampungVegan i used Madras Curry powder, Suraj Brand. I buy in Canada.. I added more cooked potatoes, sugar, oyster mushroom, coconut milk to save the curry. The bitter taste is no more but I think the curry taste become milder. I have to try your recipe again. Can u convert it to cups and tbsps? I will try your recipe again with a different curry powder because mine are very yellow not red like yours. It must be mostly made out of tumeric powder? Thank u for your great videos again.

    • @TheKampungVegan
      @TheKampungVegan  2 роки тому

      I had a look at the ingredients list for the Madras Curry powder and it has a completely different spice blend than the Baba's curry powder that I used. It has turmeric as the first ingredient so definitely has a lot of it! In this recipe I used about 4 - 5 tbsp of curry powder, perhaps you can reduce it to about 2 or 3 tablespoons. Also, oyster mushrooms can sometimes change the flavour of curries as they have a strong flavour. Maybe a milder mushroom would give a more neutral taste. Let me know how it goes if you try it again! Hope this helps ❤️
