I'm not going to lie, this song didn't catch my attention when i first heard it. I saw the names Seven Lions and Xilent, and instantly thought it was going to be a god tier melodic dubstep track like the ones in 2012. Sadly It wasn't, but i gave it another chance since, you know, its Seven Lions. After a couple of replays, I noticed how this song blended each of these artists styles together so perfectly. I noticed how much thought went into the placement of the trance-like cords, and syncs throughout the track, and i noticed how amazing the second drop of this song was. I didn't catch these things before since i was to preoccupied with the genre and their past works. All i heard were sounds and a beat instead of the music. Once i passed this obstacle, it became apparent that this song is truly a masterpiece.
One of my greatest philosophies is that words can never describe the truest feeling. but reading this, i couldn't have said it any better. when you said all you heard were sounds and a beat instead of the music. my god, amen to that dude.
It took me while, but I've realized what makes that second drop so good is the vocal overlayed with the synth. Humans are instinctually drawn to human voices, so we naturally enjoy the sound of a voice "singing" a chord/synth line, especially when it's mixed with other sounds and arranged in such an ambient way.
Are people really listening to what Seven Lions and Xilent have composed and produced here? This is an absolutely gorgeous song and an auditory treat. Every section of this song has been painstakingly forged. I hear something different every time I listen to a Seven Lions track and that's something I don't come across in music very often. There is so much going on here; there are those motifs that are in your face and then there are amazing nuances in the background that complete the work - one day people will realize that Jeff's vision and talent transcends the judgment of so-called EDM aficionados.
I'm one of the few here that agrees with you. My jaw dropped when I first heard this song. It's everything I hoped for, and it's DEFINITELY more than just a generic big room banger, as some people are calling it. People on the comments here are sullying my opinion on it though... trying not to let it affect me.
2022 and this remains one of my top favorite EDM tracks of all time. 🔥Maybe it's because I'm only a casual Seven Lions fan and haven't heard much of Xilent's stuff, but it's silly to me to nitpick about genres and styles when music is meant to be enjoyed. The production of this is insanely good, no matter what you prefer. The buildup and ambient transitions really transport you to another world, while the pulse-pounding beats are some of the hardest and most satisfying sections I've ever heard. Absolute god-tier track that deserves more appreciation. 💯💯
This song was the main track i listened to when running during my preparation to join the royal marines…. It kept me focused, motivated and looking forward during the tough times. ultimately leading me to passing the training course and becoming a royal marines commando. Its amazing how much power a song can have💪🏻 and its one i will listen to forever
Dubstep, House, Glitch, we limit ourselves as we label ourselves. I for one love the fact that Seven Lions can blend any sound he wants and still come up with powerful music. Keep evolving, Seven Lions and Xilent, that's the only thing that can change the world as we perceive it. Please keep changing my world, at least musically
Not only still listening to this track in 2019 daily, sometimes twice a day, but also reading through the comments idk why so many people hate on this track? It’s god tier production. Amazing melody. Great drums. Beautiful vocals. Hard bass. Incredible transposition. Everything is perfect. 11/10 complete masterpiece and under rated tune.
Honest opinion, I think some people in the comments here are getting too caught up in the genre. Yeah, I agree 4x4 can be a little lazy, and you might expect better from Jeff (and Xilent, mind you), but that shouldn't get in the way of everything else! This track is fucking huge, genre aside. On his facebook, Jeff said he and Xilent have been working on this for a solid year after it was completed, tweaking it and trying to make it as perfect as they could. If you ask me, it shows. Both artists are at their freaking best here, I mean just listen to those synth builds * drools*... Also to all you dubstep purists, remember "The Truth"? It was 4 on the floor. And it was fucking *awesome*, nobody denies that. If anyone is making any kind of house, I'm just glad it's him because he can rock it. So forget about genre, if you can feel the music, just feel it and don't overthink it.
+Carlo Martini I know they are both talented artists and all, but whether you like it or not, you know the label forced them to make a house track rather than something less mainstream.
One Day Uuuh... no, I don't "know" that. Owsla isn't a very "control-freak" label, really. I think Jeff and Eryk wanted to make something epic that could also be played live and make the crowd bounce more easily than dubstep does. Source: I've been in the crowd when Jeff dropped this. It makes the crowd bounce and it's epic. Mission accomplished. And I also believe they wanted to come out with something that would surprise people. All there is to it. There doesn't need to be a label conspiracy or anything like that, these are solid motives and totally in line with who Xilent and Seven Lions are as artists.
Another powerful track from 7L! It was a pleasure to listen to. And when you know that it's from one of the most unique, talented and versatile DJ's out there (and also respect to Xilent), it makes it even better. Sure, it's different from what he usually produces, but it's still Seven Lions. The atmospheric melodies, the beautiful vocals, the phenomenal builds and the drops are all there. It's great! Amazing work, keep at it!
Arthur Husein a bit late to this but i heard the older version when seven lions played in melbourne. that tribal intro wasn't there, it didn't have the bit at 2:03, and the chord progression at 4:03 was there wasn't any four on the floor, it was mostly breaks, the part at 2:33 is practically the same, and the part at 4:33 was similar but used a funky plucked bassline rather than a reese bass.. also the "to the fall" (which i think is eric's voice) samples weren't there. This version is better though, a lot more dynamic.. I think maybe i'm able to appreciate it much more because i know how much work they put into it.. like the original track was just going to be breaks the whole way throuhg.
Definitely. I can't imagine this song without the drop at 2:03. To me, it loses its identity and The Fall as the title doesn't make much sense anymore. From your description, this version definitely sounds more intricate. I love this song.
Agree, the great divide, polarized, and she was, my top 3 tracks by seven lions:) i mean this is good too, but his last album wasn't as complex in the melodies and the drops as those tracks... i guess this happens to every artist tho...:/
lol, no I mean I like all his tracks:) but I feel that his beats are becoming more repetitive and aren't not as complex when he first started out:) I still do enjoy all his songs tho... just not as much :/
Sounds interesting. It took me back to the times of when I first heard the Days to Come EP. I was more obsessing over The Truth and Fractals than I was the lead single so this feels in line with those tracks to me. I love the intro and later on when those atmospheric sounds emerge again.
This might be something new for Seven Lions but honestly I love this track. Xilent is such a great producer as well so when Seven Lions and Xilent come together they make something really really great. This is still a beautiful track. Yes a lot more fast (Unless your taling about old Xilent) than most of their stuff but still a great track to listen to. It's not Dubstep like we always expect from these two but it still works. Jeff is a master at Melody Dubstep and with Eryk's help, this track is Xilent.
Seven Lions early songs were fucking golden, I know you want to explore new styles and genres but once in awhile try to make songs like below us, polarized, tyven, isis etc. anyways I will always be supporting you
Will Marin Im not trying to be selfish... He can produce anything he wants but Im trying to give him some legit feedback, all Im saying is he shouldnt lose his original style which is something that really stood out about him.
I was actually a little on the fence about his last EP. I thought he was a little bit of one trick wonder after that one, Just kinda over of him changing/updating his sound. This song is a much needed change of direction for him, it's still has that classic Seven Lions tinge to it and but it doesn't feel overused. I personally think this is one of his best tunes by far :) I think this is step in a good direction for where he wants to take his music, it isn't going to please everyone my dude.
Good thing I just started listening to Seven Lions. The only expectation I had was this song would be good, but damn I didn't think it would be this good
This song is really good but when I saw that two of my favourites artist made a song together, I was so hyped, I expected the best melodic dubstep song of the hystory. well, next time maybe
So I've had 5 or so years to let this song sink in, and my god, I absolutely fucking love it now. When it came out, I liked it, but didn't think it was the best from either artists, and tbh the hype for something like this was going to be extremely difficult to live up to. Like I mean, 7L and Xilent? That's one of the greatest combos I've ever seen. So I felt a bit underwhelmed when it first came out. But how do I feel 5 years later? I think it's some of the best from both of the artists. The first drop is classic 7L with hints of Xilent sprinkled in. The second half of the first drop is definitely more Xilent influenced, melodies, sounds and all. It took a while especially to come round to this part of the song, as at the time it sounded quite average for both artists. But as time has gone by, it's grown more and more on me, with finding the nuances in it each time i listen to it. The mid-section is such a great section. Gives us a break with both artists' sounds mixed together, right before the buildup into the second drop. And my bloody god the second drop... I've gotta say I'm more of a Xilent fan than a 7L one (I still love him to bits). And Xilent has done some absolutely stunning electro. But this. It may not be his most experimental, it may not be his most well produced, but say for This Life, this drop has to be the most emotionally impactful I've heard from him. That first chord just sounds so incredible, and when that third chord comes in, goosebumps travel throughout my entire body. And it absolutely fucking classic Xilent to pull a chord progression like that, he's a master at them. I'm sure 7L added his magic to this part of the song, but as far as Xilent is concerned, this is absolutely first class from him. This part I always loved the most, but now, I think it's one of my favourite electronic music moments. So yeah, this track has grown immensely on me over the past few years. One of my favs from both producers and it was such a pleasure to hear what these two titans can do together.
3 years since the first time i heard this song. Came because of some random AMV, Kyoukai no Kanata if my memory serves me right. Honestly, I didn't like it as much as i though i would, since you know, the AMV was so good ( iguess) that it overshadowed the song. Stumbled upon the AMV a while ago, and the song doesn't leave me alone, I keep thinking about the 2nd drop and how amazing it was. All I could remember about the song was that SEVEN LIONS made it. Now i'll silently put it in my playlist, since i get bored of song very quickly, and hope someday in the future, i'll stumble upon it again.
You all are thinking to much into this do you think people who see Mona Lisa are concentrated on the brush lines or on how the brush lines creates a misterous in the put of chest. These are works of art. Not schematics to a wall. So feel it in pit of your chest and just feel it.😊😊
Music itself is limitless, so anyone can easily criticize some one else's creation, especially when they are Not creating anything for themselves. For those that have nothing good to say, well they can kindly STFU, unless of course they're producing music that can win the crowd over... :-T
Hear me when I saw this. DISGUSTINGLY underrated track. It goes to show that who releases and pushes your track matters. This thing way more views than it got here, other videos and streams.

+GeeksOasis Some songs are like that. It takes a couple times until you see the art of the song.
House + Complextro, a good mix and beautiful melodies tho...
Pro tip : you can watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Korbyn Paxton yup, I have been using flixzone for years myself :D

This song proves that Seven Lions can be susccessful in any genre. This song is amazingly beautiful!
2022 and this remains one of my top favorite EDM tracks of all time. 🔥Maybe it's because I'm only a casual Seven Lions fan and haven't heard much of Xilent's stuff, but it's silly to me to nitpick about genres and styles when music is meant to be enjoyed. 2:33 to 3:03 gives me chills. Wish the whole song was like that. It sounds perfect.
Dont ever stop doing what you do, you two. This is fantastic.

2019, and still listening to this gem.
2020 dude
2021 fams
2022 buddy.
My two favourite artists! Literally jumped out of bed to listen to this. I hope we hear more from you both

The old Seven Lions is finally back!
3:33 and on is especially 🔥

Very well said, thanks for writing this
I'm so glad I had found Seven Lions music.
thats really all you need lol
Who cares about the genre. Just listen to the music, because this is amazing!
coming back to this after all these years gave me nostalgic goosebumps
I would definitely like to hear more trance-step from Seven Lions, for sure.

2:33 is my fav part
yeaaaaaaaaah
I need more, one song isn't enough. Good job Seven Lions, I'm really enjoying your latest works.
Damn, this song eventually grew on me... I would love to hear this live
Heard this live at Lights All Night 2014 and it was glorious. Best damn performance I have ever seen.
Arthur Husein a bit late to this but i heard the older version when seven lions played in melbourne. that tribal intro wasn't there, it didn't have the bit at 2:03, and the chord progression at 4:03 was there wasn't any four on the floor, it was mostly breaks, the part at 2:33 is practically the same, and the part at 4:33 was similar but used a funky plucked bassline rather than a reese bass.. also the "to the fall" (which i think is eric's voice) samples weren't there.

dude to all of us haha took a while but boy once it did it was pure ecstasy
don't hate it. don't love it.
I miss your old stuff :/ your remix of The Great Divide is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.
Man I'm I thought I was the only one who felt that. That song almost brought me to tears when I first heard it
Agree, the great divide, polarized, and she was, my top 3 tracks by seven lions:) i mean this is good too, but his last album wasn't as complex in the melodies and the drops as those tracks... i guess this happens to every artist tho...:/
Alex Bondar No love for Days to Come? haha kidding of course, we all have our favourites :)
lol, no I mean I like all his tracks:) but I feel that his beats are becoming more repetitive and aren't not as complex when he first started out:) I still do enjoy all his songs tho... just not as much :/
Alex Bondar yeah it seems that way. His old songs were the type I'd excitedly show friends...his newer stuff is becoming background music.
9,,, long years later and this is still going strong.❤😢
Sounds interesting. It took me back to the times of when I first heard the Days to Come EP. I was more obsessing over The Truth and Fractals than I was the lead single so this feels in line with those tracks to me. I love the intro and later on when those atmospheric sounds emerge again.

0:49 takes me to another world ♥️
Seven Lions early songs were fucking golden, I know you want to explore new styles and genres but once in awhile try to make songs like below us, polarized, tyven, isis etc. anyways I will always be supporting you
Let the artist grow and don't be so selfish.
Will Marin Im not trying to be selfish... He can produce anything he wants but Im trying to give him some legit feedback, all Im saying is he shouldnt lose his original style which is something that really stood out about him.
***** I agree, his original style is great and I too hope he continues to use it. However, if he wants to branch out instead, I'm fine with that also.
Tyven has to be one of the best.
I was actually a little on the fence about his last EP. I thought he was a little bit of one trick wonder after that one, Just kinda over of him changing/updating his sound. I think this song is very underrated by 7lions fans. It's different but very very good
Why can't I upvote this twice!
Jeff definitely focused on what he likes the most with this song: the melody.
Good thing I just started listening to Seven Lions. The only expectation I had was this song would be good, but damn I didn't think it would be this good
That song is so god damn brilliant! Thank you. I Can't stop to listen to it. :)
_It is so _*_COOL_*_ , as if by the flow of a river it picks you up and carries you away!_

Y'ALL NEED TO COLLAB AGAIN. My two faves, I still can't believe this happened😩😩😩
beautiful visuals!
Phoenix rising from the fall. On 🔥
This is 98% of the magic that's in Days to Come.
10/10 would goosebump the fuck out to this live.
The way this track started I was a bit skeptical, but it ended up pretty awesome!
This is fucking DOPE. Whoever hates can hate, won't stop others and myself from listening!!!!
+GotToBeSick Well said :)

3 years since the first time i heard this song. Came because of some random AMV, Kyoukai no Kanata if my memory serves me right. Different is good ^_^
I think this song will be better! :(
Most comments overanalyze. It sounds good
Fucking banger
Foda pra caralhooooooooooooooo :D

anyone still listening this in 2024?
You ll fall at the fall part
yo le hubiese agregado una voz editada con un toque electrónico que fuese diciendo en algunas partes del tema: "I AM THE FALL" en nota C#5
Fucking Tasty !!

Aww yiss. Motha. Fucking. Seven Lions.
All hype & shit drop.
Better be good
Pls start making music as it was - below us, polarized, tyven, isis (its 1000x better)
