Of course, but that’s easier said when you’re not living on a coral atoll… try saying "we’re all living on borrowed time" when you’re there. It's less about erosion and more so about the sea level itself rising. Should the worst case scenario ever come around, the world's biggest polluters should be prepared to pay REPARATIONS because this is quite an injustice
What is needed is a benevolent arrangement of technologically capable states that could strengthen the coastline and raise it above the harmful effects of tides and rising sea levels. The country that traditionally knows this is the Netherlands. The country that creates artificial islands is China. With the wholehearted help of the world community, think in that direction. May the almighty God help you all and Tuvalu! ❤❤❤
If the sea level is rising in Tuvalu it must also rise in costal cities in the U.S. and Canada...except it isn't rising in those countries , so something else is at play here, erosion and sinking of the substrates on which the island was built.
Perhaps they could begin planting mangroves around the island. Biodegradable materials, such as leaves and bark, could then be deposited on the beach, as the newly planted mangroves will protect this area.

I just watched a video on venice. Can Tuvalu raise their island, or is this not possible because of its distance fron the mainland and the roughness of the ocean?
The Polynesian island nation of Tuvalu has long been marked as a prime candidate to get swallowed up by the ocean as sea levels rise, but new research shows the land mass of the nation is actually expanding.
As of 2022, China 🇨🇳 was by far the world's largest *coal* consumer with 55% of energy use, an increase of 2% of the total energy from the year before. So China is accelerating the use of coal despite it having signed the Paris agreement.
China is the world's factory, and the goods it produces are supplied to people all over the world. Americans consume 30% of the world's energy, and they basically use it themselves. They drive large-displacement cars and use dryers to dry clothes in every household. Instead of drying clothes, a lot of energy is wasted
Don't trust the Chinese government for ANYTHING they say. Stop using Tik Tok, buying from Temu, Shien, and never buy any electronic device or security cameras or install Chinese software on your devices.
Liberal governments will not hold China accountable, citizens of the world will still purchase Chinese made products and China won't care how much they polute. If China can't/won't be held to account everything else won't matter
Its surprising that they have a landing strip on the island. Since the island is so small I would have used that space for something else and told everyone to take a sea plane.
Before the "civilized" world showed up, the people lived on the land, fished the ocean and ate the native plants and fruits of the land. All that without government, taxes, income or tourism
The commonwealth should help out itself since many of them are small nations and have Australia and the UK are the big kids in the party. Perhaps they can even get other rich nations to help relocate these people. Since we're all to blame for this anyways.
Sad and unfortunate reality for the global impact of climate change. It's time for all the world to take more tangible collective actions to combat further deterioration of our environment before it's too late.
If people stop living in the tiny island and/or even lagoon, that would be nice. Even there is no climate changes, that's still bad idea to live there, let alone have a country.
(Maybe this is crazy, and it's not a suggestion) - surely there are some islands somewhere that are functional but not in use that could become "New Tuvalu?" Maybe they just buy a string of neighboring private islands and have the UN recognize their relocation? Maybe Australia has a few empty islands? They might end up with an even bigger country.
I have never heard of Tuvalu before. But with it being that long, narrow strip of land simple wave action moves soil from one place to another. Everything changes, whether there are humans or not. Different islands will disappear and the soil will be moved somewhere else. It looks like a wonderful place to live as long as it is there.
like four proper cargo ships of rock, coral bedding and sand would fix this, problem solved. Land reclamations a thing. Or dredge up soil from the deep.
No I don't thinks so. Coral maybe but not rock because rock is heavy and will cause Tulalu to sink even faster than it's sinking right now. No the ocean is not rising, Tuvalu is sinking.
Exactly! If sea levels were rising they would be rising and threatening every costal city but that isn't the case. Tuvalu is being eroded and is sinking.
I have seen such a place in cartoons . My God! really there is one such place on Earth. Easy fishing may be keeping the people stick to that place. I can imagine how discomfert it is due to noise of breaking waves. What about water, and toilet. May be the place is suitable for scientific observation , certainly not for permanent living. Compare it with Arctic, Antarctic desolate regions. Strong trees cannot grow, no grasing animals. Lighthouse, experimental antennas and such things can be put there with escape mechanisms in case of disaster.
That won't work. There's going to be meters of sea level rise. The only way I can see for people to stay there, is if you raise the places people live far above the current sea level. That's a serious construction project. At the moment it would mean building islands in the air. I'm sure this sounds crazy, but it is the only solution I can think of to deal with multiple meters of sea level rise. You have to plan for it and build to where you think the sea will be at its highest point. This is NOT an easy solution, but I think it is the only way people will be able to stay there, as opposed to moving somewhere else. The only other option I can think of is finding an island/islands that are high above the current seas, and currently uninhabitable for the people to move to. This comes with the challenge of making such islands habitable. Whatever they decide to do, I wish the Tuvaluan people the best of luck, it would be a shame to lose their languages, and culture.
@@kennethloki7011 That why we must throw a lot of rocks and concrete down there and start building higher. Let go, they won't have island to call home in 20 years.

Some of it is undoubtedly naturally occurring changes, but a lot of things are likely to be exacerbated by the overpopulated planet and mismanaged resources and waste. As in, these may not be the root causes of climate change, I don’t know, but those things surely won’t add anything good to an already existing, natural issue.

Singapore is able to claim sites up to 20 meters deep, Tuvalu is claiming an average of a maximum of 7 meters. There are two types of people: those who try to solve problems and those who try to win donations.
This country needs the helps of china.. china could make multiple man-made islands in two years..all they have to do is allow china to do wat they did in West Philippine Sea like pounding corals in near areas destroying to make it suckable by thier dredging machine..in no time u'll have a new livable islands.. this more justified for local people to live comfortably.. unlike china done to grab teritories.. like claiming the whole sea

So whats the colonizer British been doing for Tuvalu?
The U-K is now use-less
I think they should just leave n stop holding on so much to something inevitable n dangerous, When it goes underwater ,leave,
This country needs the helps of china.. china could make multiple man-made islands in two years..all they have to do is allow china to do wat they did in West Philippine Sea like pounding corals in near areas destroying to make it suckable by thier dredging machine..in no time u'll have a new livable islands.. this more justified for local people to live comfortably.. unlike china done to grab teritories.. like claiming the whole sea
i think that tuvaluans should move because there are other countries better than this
This is really a shame! I don't see the world stopping carbon emissions! You cannot put the genie back in the bottle. It may be unbelievable, but I think the fate of the country is inevitable!
Zero Carbon equals Zero forests. CO2 is not the world's enemy , it is the world's friend because it feeds our forests and vegetation.
sandbar country
This sucks but it's not my problem the world leaders should do more to fix this, Lucky i wont experience the worst in my lifetime.
