Had to come back and watch this again. The first time I had my hand over my mouth and watched Matt the whole time. I’m trying to watch Nadiya this time but it’s hard not to watch Matt. I can’t even put my finger on what it is but omg 😱
Haha! I came back to look at it again too! I think his awful dancing is because he hasn't an ounce of natural rhythm ~ it looks as if he is out of time to the music. No matter how much you try to teach someone to dance, they need to have some rhythm or else they look wooden and stilted. Only my opinion lol!
Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova next. I thought this was going to be good how badly I was wrong. I thought Matt Goss did better last week with his Quickstep, when in hold in ballroom as a celeb, the Pro can try and fix the mistakes that the celeb makes and help as best as can but this dance this week Matt Goss was on his own a lot of the time. I do not know if this was intentional but it did not look right. The only positives to take away from this is that Nadiya Bychkova is Amazing, the Song is Amazing and Matt Goss tried his hardest to be Amazing.
Lighting department and house band outdid themselves here. US version needs to see this and study how to use bright lights that aren't oversaturated or blinding.
He's improvemed in confidence from last week and actually looked like he enjoyed performing this time. Unfortunately there was absolutely zero samba technique in this at all. 3
Yeah I think Strictly picked him for her thinking he would be fairly strong. He was a singer in a boy band so you’d think he’d be able to at least move a little bit 😂 evidently not.
Either nadiya isn’t a great teacher who is strict enough to correct her student’s mistakes each year or she simply gets the weakest dancers. I think it’s a combo of both as the other pros seem to train their students better and some of those who we didn’t think could cut it did so well. So I’m not sure she’s the best teacher in correcting her partner’s errors before she goes on the floor and is more the one to simply have fun on the dance floor. Karen gio kai and now Carlos and Jowita are the best teachers. Even Kay managed a decent beginners Charleston thanks to kai.
Loosened up within a week after saying strictly singing ! 😂 Keep it up!!! Just shake yourself loose before the performance ! Have potential to go above !
Score: *4* This definitely reminded me of Davood's Samba in 2017. Matt definitely owned this dance in terms of confidence and personality. While the execution and technique were completely labored in most places, especially in the bounce department, I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the performance.

Yeah but I question if that’s also her teaching skills. Because other pros have had people who couldn’t dance and they excelled. She’s the pro she needs to teach and correct their errors before the live show and she does have a pattern of odd dances each year and just having a laugh on the floor. She is not just meant to show them to dance but how to dance well and fix their weak points.
@@naheed03 I don’t think it’s an issue with her teaching, she’s an exceptional dancer and a very good teacher but you can’t expect her to fix everything instantly 😂 She’s fully aware what they need to work on, what I do think though is that some of the dancers on the show, including Nadiya, overlook choreographing their routines tactically for television (same goes for Luba & Neil) and for that you could literally just study Katya 😂 She’s very, very smart and creative with her choreography. She is often partnered with some of the less naturally gifted dancers on the show but yet, the earliest she’s ever gone out of the competition has been Week 6 🤔👏🏻 Obviously she’s an incredible dancer and pushes them very hard too, but she also choreographs memorable routines that she knows will pick up votes and go viral on social media (Tony Adams doing the Full Monty or Ed Balls dancing to Gangnam Style and incorporating some impressive lifts) which then gives her more time to work with them on Technique.
Score - *6/10* It had good disco but the Samba was lacking, it's such a good Samba song and thus was underwhelming, it was very camp and showy which was good I liked the routine but it still has airplane arms, lack if hip action and basic steps. I think Matt brings the performance but his technique isn't helping him, might be in the bottom with the high standard tonight. Definitely not quite John Travolta but there was some Davood flashbacks tonight and to be marked the same as Tony is unfair when he has great musicality and sensuality. These trousers are tighter than Gorka's though which is unfortunate so I hope he gets that sorted 😳

Matt Goss. Samba is a hot dance, think hot and erotically loving. You are a musician so feel the rhythm in your body, stop counting steps and think less about the rehearsed choreography as it shows all too clearly in the face and the movements. Let the rhythm guide you in the dance, relax and enjoy and the dance will be heartfelt. Nadiya really needs to explain all the techniques and hot emotional meanings of the Latin dances. Otherwise, she gets to go out on the dance floor with a stiff, dispassionate dance partner. Nobody counts passion and rhythm, you feel passion and rhythm and move your body accordingly. Think about that when you come to Tango, Salsa and Rumba... It´s all about feelings, nothing else. Matt... the first thing you need to do is soften your hips ;-) Make love when you dance... feel
Score: 3 Woah, that was absolutely hilarious. I loved the vibe of it and I think it was a confident performance but there was barely any Samba and when he did it he was extremely stiff and he had no bounce and fluidity and it was very placed in the steps and the arms. It was also very flat footed and stompy and he needed to finish his lines too but he didn't. But I'll stop going on about it now. I think it was a fun dance! Just not the greatest Samba. It could've worked better as a Couples' Choice.
My biggest problem with Matt is that he cannot hide his nerves, and that he does not embrace a character, he does not show the character of the dance. His face was very, very nervous during this samba routine, I did not get the party feeling at all. I want Matt to work on creating beautiful lines with the arms, and on relaxing his body, because he was way too stiff. Not enough samba content (the song didn't help very much). Matt danced with both of his legs bent all the time, which did not allow him to produce any hip action. There was no finesse in the moves, there was no commitment in the energy, I was though Mat not giving his all. I also felt that Matt's musicality was sometimes off. So, in his next dance, I want to see personality, I will be looking for musicality, I want to Matt to work on creating clean lines, let go of the nerves and the stiffness and work on an interplay between him and Nadiya. Not only this samba had very few samba steps, not only Matt didn't bring the carnival feeling, not only his musicality wasn't good, he also danced alone, he wasn't dancing with Nadiya, performance wise, though it's super important in ballroom and latin. My score: a 3.
