Netflix India is so damn cool. They hire all the popular comedians/social media personalities like tanmay, kusha and so many others to literally roast their shows and movies and I think that's so damn cool. Their marketting is 🔥
I think that works too. I watched this show after seeing tanmay's roast. I mean even if the show seem crazy, you want to go watch. So this strategy is working for Netflix
Lol Netflix India are just trying to correct their biggest mistake. Kuch bhi karke views toh lana hena. They were roasted by others first for this shitty show. They are trying to be cool by adding popular people like Tanmay to their youtube channel.
It's called COLORISM. Colorism is an aspect of the Indian society that often times is more likely to be due to the beauty standards that seeped down into the Indian society during the British Colonization. At that time, being white equalled to being powerful that was then related to being beautiful. Though this notion is slowly taking a step back in the mainland India, it's still somewhat prevalent in the country and after seeing this show, more so in the NRI's (Non Resident Indians).
White= powerful was not just a British notion before British there were Central Asians , Afghans, Iranians and they were all pretty fair. So you might want to back the date a little more but than you would realise Greeks are white too so lets take 2000 yrs or so. At this point you might have realised that it has been for forever so instead of lazily blaming everything on Brits that too like you have read it somewhere and just copy pasted it rather than doing your own research. Read some books written before British raj.
@@abhishek-xh2ld Being white or fair is not the problem, the problem is that white is being equated to beauty and attractiveness which is something that became prevalent in India because of the British.
I watched this series a while back and it cracks me up that Achara, Tanmay and I had exactly the same reactions. The main complaint I had about the series is that you didn't find out how everyone ended up at the end of season one. They just kept moving on to new couples and there wasn't a sense of closure on most of them. Still kind of fun to watch though!

It really is a trainwreck and there's a lot of things to hate about it and a lot of the people in it are just superficial as well, but I think thats what makes people wanna keep watching. It might also be a tiny bit informative (i guess) about arranged marriages and all, so if you could do a series review it would be nice.

As an Indian, I cringed so hard when the matchmaking lady said 'fair skin colour' and the way they were judging the heights of the girls, it's really a commentary on the atmosphere that many Indian kids grow up in... Loved Tanmay's reactions and jokes though 😂😂
The thing I'm most scared about is when we were finally overcoming the Apu from Simpson's and other classical stereotypes, this series just jumped up right on our faces. I cringed and laughed at the entire duration of the video. Great reaction guys.
That is just one small part. India is so diverse and even in same community people have different approach. Some people only marry in community, some only Indian, some go for non Indian origin, depends and varies. Its a big population and just one show doesnt cover all the picture. Its like saying kitkat is the best candy and there is no variety, while Hershey and Reeses look at you like, "What you talkin bout mate??"
yes please please please do a series reaction to it, we would really love your perspective and opinions on the indian match making and dating standards, it will open a whole new box of conversation and political contrasts
I have never ever agreed more with Jaby than I do in this video. All of them are caricatures - even the nice ones. The whole ketchup scene just didn't feel natural and genuine. I wouldn't want to hang out with any one of the characters in real life. About wanting to be married to or be attracted to only fair skin people : our attractions are innate. We don't have any control over who we are attracted to. There's nothing wrong about not finding say, a black person attractive. I would still be nice to them. I would stand beside them in protests. I would fight for them. I would be able to relate to them, and so on. But attraction, that is beyond our control. There's is nothing wrong in saying it outright that she would like to be set up with a fair skin person. Nothing at all. Actually that's brave and forthright. And these are admirable qualities.
This is like an inception, Tanmay reviewing Indian Matchmaking and Jaby and Achara reviewing Tanmay's review of the Indian Matchmaking!! Interesting to say the least!!
NRIs are stuck in the year they moved out of India. Either that, or they integrate into American culture, which transforms them. ABCDs on the other hand are decidedly more American than Indian, yet they are confused and insecure about their identity. Hence they usually gravitate towards someone who will cement their American identity - that might be an American, another Indian-American, or an Indian who wants to be American. That makes them feel secure. It is extremely rare for them to marry an Indian and move to India. In fact, a true American (i.e. Someone whose family has been American for many generations) is probably more likely to marry a true Indian and move to India, than an Indian-American.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it supposed to be 'Kota' for Kota City and not 'Quota' the reservation system, when Tanmay said, 'I have never seen 'Kota' as a person.' Cause Kota is known for the rigorous coaching and parents sending their kids to train for JEE.
