Motorcycles certainly look like fun, but they do have a very high accident/injury rate. It is sad to see a video like this.

why are we prolonging scene time just to RSI smh... load and go and the rest can be done en route, the guy could have been at the receiving facility by the time HEMS finished their RSI if they had just packaged and left instead of calling HEMS (there's also very little data suggesting that prehospital rsi leads to reduced mortality/morbidity)
People that have no clue what this job entails or even know how to do it for that matter shoudnt be commenting in the first place.
You’re telling me the ground crew can’t do an intubation?
Intubation is a high risk skill and ground crews in the uk typically only see 1 or 2 jobs a year where intubation is needed. Opportunity to maintain are limited and therefore usually only those in a critical care setting now intubate.

Yes you do. You never put in a nasal tube if there's any risk of a skull base fracture, which there obviously wasn't in this case. Eitherway managing an airway is more important in the immediate phase.

@@chris-c2c4k Well yes, but obviously the anaesthetist made the call to insert one anyway. All I'm saying is that a head injury isn't an absolute contraindication for a nasal airway.

He's also suffering from thr symptoms of a bleed on the brain which is life threatening, broken bones are not in 9 out of 10 instances. I'd be interested to know your clinical level and qualifications?

You always prioritise the greatest risk to life. There are levels to this, a broken arm for example is extremely unlikely to kill you so in a life threatening situation where you could potentially have a life altering brain injury or die without treatment in the next 10 minutes that is your concern. Now considering he did have a bleed on the brain and stayed in a coma for 11 days I would say they did a great job and prioritised the sustained injuries correctly.
